I just noticed there's an actual sequence that the four commercials are designed to be viewed, based on the prop that she steals in each one. By the way the props gradually appear next to the perfume bottle, the sequence should be: King chess piece, flower blossom, tiny journal, black shawl.
I remember so many people used to respond with "huh?!" "what?!" So many people didn't get it and thought it was just plain weird. Still, the commercials were unforgettable so they work somehow. Saturday night live even imitated those commercials.
I love high art 80s commercials, so I sought these out. Imagine my absolute pleasure to realize that at least one of them is from "The Great Gatsby"! I think another might be Franz Kafka. I was a very little person when these were released. I'm surprised that so many adults didn't recognize the literary allusions.
@@SanFranDentist94301 I love the second one where the woman gets slapped. I remember when it originally came out and I saw it years ago. I was a teenager at the time. I remember I laughed my head off when she slapped that woman and said "Save me!". I was thinking Whaaaaaaaaatttt????!!!!! This was an early introduction to weirdness, for me, and I loved every minute of it! LOL!!
The ad concept reminds me of a film from 1970 called “Something For Everyone” in which a young bisexual man seduces his way into an aristocratic clan in order to get at their wealth and steal their home and fortune.
@@JaesadaSrisuk Justice/Jae, Never long after Ones who can, and DO enjoy beds of Both Sexes, and enjoys it. Chasing those Dragons, to Each Their Own However. To Each Their Own.
@@JaesadaSrisuk There was a quite a few films from the late sixties to the early seventies with a 'stranger seduces an entire family' plot like "Teorema," "Angel, Angel, Down We Go" and "The Lickerish Quartet."
Pretentious garbage maskeraded as tributes. This reminds me to that episode of Futurama "future stock" where the 80s guy decided to get some 'professionals' to do a new commercial for the company he was working at and they did the most "artsy" pretentious whack 😂 it was soooo 80s, like these Clavin Klein commercials, couldn't stop laughing. Whoever wrote for that show was genius.
There is no doubt that now Obsession ❤️ perfume is a very unique perfume, I have been using it since 1990, I have never seen a perfume like it, its sweetness and its projection are amazing. Yes, I can't find any other perfume better than Obsession in Sweets Smell. Obsession perfume is my life.,,,❤
Just realized they spoofed this commercial in Austin Powers. The scene where he's playing chess with Ivana Humpalot. "And Ivanna toilet made out of solid gold but it's just not in the cards, now is it?".
I do like their ad campaigns and their clothes but Opium by Yves Saint Laurent was my preferred scent for years before everyone got sensitivity about strong perfumes.
I remember being a 5, 6 and 7 year old kid watching these commercials and wondering what the fuck they were talking about and when the fuck is Saturday Night Main Event coming back on.
