I was originally like "Wow, Anguirus is a little rude" when he answered with "What do you want." Then it dawned on me that Godzilla probably sends him on these kinds of errands all the time, and the majority are probably false alarms. And he had the nerve to go "Hurry up!" when he walked away at his normal pace.
Translation Godzilla: Hey anguirus! Anguirus: What do you want Godzilla: Something funny is going on you better check Anguirus: Okay Godzilla: Hurry up! Part 2 Godzilla: Hey Anguirus come on there's a lot trouble ahead! Godzilla: let's hurry Anguirus: Okaaaay

The recording scratching sound is the actual sound effects they use to have Godzilla and Anguirus talk to each other. In the Eng Dub, for whatever reason, they still kept the sound effect but voice over them. Godzilla and Anguirus never talk in the original JP Dub.
Yes, although they could have pushed the boundaries further by having Godzilla do juvenile 'happy dances' and clapping whenever he... oh... never mind... Oh, oh, how about giving Godzilla the ability to fly using his atomic bre... sigh..
Such a strange thing hearing the kaiju talk to each other. I think it would have worked better if the movie had just not used any voices, or subtitles even, because we the audience can interpret what they are saying to each other via their body language alone. They sense that something is not right, so they're going to check it out. Its pretty obvious.

I always thought I had made it up in mind about remembering Godzilla talking, but nope, I was right to remember this scene from when I first watched it as a kid.
They’re that couple that everybody thinks are fighting from the way they speak to each other, but it turns out that’s just how they best communicate and are perfectly happy
I have no clue what the monsters are saying but i heard in the original Japanese version you don't hear them speak they're speech bubbles kinda fits the comic book theme.
My brain at 2 a.m.: "Hey, remember that old Godzilla movie we watched when you were a kid where Godzilla and that spiky dinosaur could talk?" Me: "That's ridiculous, it must have been a dream. Come on, it's time to sleep." My brain: "No, it totally happened! Godzilla was all like, 'Hey, Bagira' and the dinosaur was like 'Whatd'ya want?' Then they were swimming and Godzilla was like 'Come on, there's a lot of trouble ahead!'" Me: "That does sound familiar but there's no way it actually happened. It'd be too weird. Please, I really need to sleep." My brain: "You're not sleeping until we get to the bottom of this! Grab your phone and look it up!"

They would have large vocal cords, so it would make sense for them to have deep voices. This makes me think of Mystery Science Theatre when they were doing, " Godzilla vs The Sea Monster" - both monsters were arguing, making threats, & trading insults. Eriba told Godzilla, " I'll give you such a pinch!" (From a Bugs Bunny vs Elmer Fudd cartoon). I think Eriba also told Godzilla, "Your father is Robert Oppenheimer!"(H-bomb reference.). When Godzilla is wrestling with Eriba, Godzilla says," I wish I had a giant nutcracker!"(like the nutcracker you use on lobster or crab legs. They also did the gruff, low-pitched " monster voice " for other monsters like Gamera. When Kenny & his friend were yelling, " Gamera! help!!!!", Gamera replies, " All right! I'm coming, I'm coming, I'm coming! Dang kids! Always getting into trouble!".
Can you imagine the voice actor(s) having to do this for the movie. "Are we really doing this? Being a Godzilla fan, I was stoked when I got hired, but _'this?_ Where's my agent? No wonder why he wouldn't let me read the contract. DON'T include me in the credits!! F^*# !!"

This always made me wonder, what kind of conversations do they have normally have when there's no immediate monster threat. Guess we have Monster Island Buddies to fill in that kind of info. 😂
