Hello! It's Thursday. This week I'm going to show you how to crochet Chonk the baby dragon, but as a grown up dragon giving off some sort of golden retriever vibe. If this video gets to 500 likes, I will start designing an even adultier-adult dragon version!
Don't forget to vote for the first episode of Knot My Idea!
/ complicatedknots
It looks like there may be a Loch Ness Monster in our future!

A written version of the pattern will be made available to my patrons (probably tomorrow!)

And if you wanted to support me, you can purchase the written pattern in my store (again, probably tomorrow!):

US terminology used
All pieces are worked in a continuous spiral unless otherwise indicated.
Stitch Glossary:
ch: “Chain” - yarn over, pull through only loop.
sc: “Single crochet” - Insert hook, yarn over, pull up loop, yarn over, pull through both loops on hook.
inc: “Increase” - Complete two single crochets into the same stitch, one after the other.
dec: “Decrease over two stitches”- Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull up loop. Insert hook into next stitch, yarn over, pull up loop. Yarn over a third time, and pull through all three loops on hook.
inc3: "increase 3" - my lame way of saying "put 3 single crochet into the same stitch"
dec3: "decrease 3" - decrease over 3 stitches.
hdc: "hald-double crochet" - yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over + pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through all three loops on hook.
dc: "double crochet" - yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over + pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through first two loops on hook, yarn over and pull through remaining two loops on hook.
Pattern notation
x[…] Repeat the instructions between the square brackets ‘x’ times.
(…) The total numbers of stitches in the row/round
{...} Used to indicate front or back post stitches.

Why on the toenail two, in the video does it say to do 3sc in the beginning but on the written pattern to the side does it say to do 4

Hi! I get them in bulk from ebay/amazon. I can't recommend a particular seller, I usually just look up "20mm bulk plastic safety eyes" and rummage through til I find a listing I'm comfortable with.

So it turns out I have much much much more looser stitch compare to you.Even though I used the same size hook, my dragon's head's size is almost your dragon's whole body's size. It's becoming huge I love it also scared from it.

I would really like to make one of the dragons, like any life stage but I don't want to make the biggest one, or the one in the egg. Im not really sure which one of the other 2 to do and was wondering if you had any tips on which one I should do I'm at a sort of beginner/intermediate level and would be grateful for any help on which one. They are all soooo cute BTW!!
@ComplicatedKnots
@ComplicatedKnots Год назад
Hi! Looks like you've narrowed it down to either the "toddler" or the "teenager". In terms of difficulty, they both have pros and cons, but I personally think that the "toddler" might be slightly easier, just because you don't have to fuss around with his mouth, and he's a bit smaller which can be easier to manager just in general.
@Eva.tucker

Okay thank you so much I will have a go at the toddler and see how to get on!

hello!! I love your videos and I love this little dragon! I wanted to make this dragon for my girlfriend but I'm having a little bit of an issue, on row five, it says to scx13 but then I'd skip one stitch from the row before, then it says to chain three, double crochet, chain three again, skip a stitch then scx3 but if I skip a stitch, I'd only have one stitch left to finished the row, but if I don't skip, I only have two and not three sc, but let's say I do it in a way so that there's 16sc and one dc, in the next row, it says to scx11 but I'd still have a couple of stitches left so do I skip them all?? please help us, knotgod!!
@ComplicatedKnots
@ComplicatedKnots 2 года назад
Hi! I assume you are talking about R5 of the leg, right? This pattern falls into the category of "why on earth did I write it like that?!", so I understand exactly how you got confused. If you'd done the stitches exactly as listed, you would have gotten the correct result, but here's the same instructions, just organised into better rows: R5. 13sc, ch3, dc into chain gap from R4, ch3 + skip 1 stitch, sc (15) R6. 13sc, 1sc on first chain gap, ch3, 1sc on second chain gap, sc (16) R7. 14sc, 2sc on chains, 2sc (18) Hopefully that clears it up for you :)

I have an issue. My belly piece ended up being longer than the body of my dragon, so it doesn't exactly fit on... I'm guessing maybe my tension was a bit too loose while making it. Do I need to go back and redo the whole thing or should I just go back and undo a section of it?
@ComplicatedKnots
@ComplicatedKnots 2 года назад
My suggestion would be to work out how many rows too long your belly is, (line up the chin, and see how far the tail sticks past the end). Then frog back to the rows of 13 stitches we did, and remove that number of rows from the rows of 13. Then continue on from R38 to complete the tail section again. Hopefully that corrects it for you :)
@Emily-pn1rg
@Emily-pn1rg 2 года назад
@@ComplicatedKnots That is actually exactly what I did!! I undid the last portion until I got back to the rows of 13 and ended up taking out 2 of the sections (so 8 rows total) and it fits perfectly! Thanks for the help!!

@ComplicatedKnots

I also having problems with 35 and 36. 35 says 9 sc and then 36 says 26. So on round 35 do I only do 9 sc and then turn then do 26 sc in round 36 which it says chain and turn. Do we do the 9 sc the same way as round 36

I'd give this pattern a go but I'm not quite at this level of skill yet. This was still a bit too fast for me to follow confidently. One question, though. What does the 2 [10 sc, dec 3], on row 14 mean? I get the sc and the dec, but what does the 2 mean here? Sorry, I'm still a newb.
@ComplicatedKnots
@ComplicatedKnots 2 года назад
All good, my patterns can feel a little like algebra sometimes :) what that means is "repeat the instructions inside the brackets two times", and is basically just a shorter way of writing 10sc, decrease over 3 stitches, 10sc, decrease over 3 stitches.
