@Dave Mendoza I doubt you're blind ... but do look at the 12/6oc indices and where the 12/6oc minute markers on the chapter ring sit in relation to them. Pretty obvious, even to my untrained eye.
Reminds me of my 1978 6309-7040. Battle scarred but keepin good time today with hundreds of dives. It spent 4 years in an Aircraft Carrier boiler room too. Wonderful Watch.
I kind of love this watch. The gold makes me think of brass diving helmets and the black rubber strap makes me think of the early days of scuba diving when everything was made of black rubber...so it just gives me that retro feeling. I'll probably buy one at that price. Thanks, Jody.
Gonna build my own Super Turtle completely from scratch (Namoki, DLW, LBI, Strapcode etc) it will end up being around 450USD. AR Sapphire Lume Ceramic bezel insert Coin edge bezel Signed crown Lumed chapter ring Bandoleer Bracelet 🙏🙏🙏 The ultimate watch
I've got the JDM PADI version (SBDY017) of this bad boy, and an all original 6309 Turtle from 1977that my father bought new. I love them both, and I've never had a more comfortable pair of watches than these.
Oh My, an with the Jubi taking it up another level! Mr X has got to be stoked. Looked even better outside, even better, looking forward to another year of JOMW. You Beauty Sydney.
That bracelet is freaking awesome, it really makes the watch pop, if Seiko was smart they would buy out strapcode and put them on all their dive watches. Thank you Jody.
This ended up being my new years watch, saw one in the shop a couple days after this video aired and it came home with me. i love it, thank you for showing us this one!
"...and that my friends is some next level Gurtle action....: - HAHAHA! I am still dying over that...too hilarious. Excellent content as usual = thumbs way up!
I'm not a fan of gold on watches or in general. This watch looks ok-ish with the rubber strap but with the gold jubilee it looks fantastic. I'm surprised 😱 I am saying that. The best thing for me about Jody's channel is that my watch mind is constantly expanded. Happy 2020 everyone. 🎆
I bought the same Strapcode bracelet for my 44, also picked up a stealth ceramic bezel, a fish-bone handset w/Trident seconds hand and a double-dome sapphire to finish it off.
I'm genuinely puzzled at how Seiko's keep getting a pass on their awful QC. There is no excuse *at any price* for a misaligned bezel and chapter ring. No one would tolerate this in a $60 Invicta or any micro brand wanting our money, and yet with Seiko it's somehow supposed to be a charming quirk. It's not a quirk, its the mark of a brand that does not respect it's customers and takes them for granted.
I have owned this watch for 12 months now. It is nick named the C-3PO according to watch enthusiasts. Had I on the super jubilee but was too blingy for my liking so I put it back on the very comfortable silicone strap that it came with. The only thing I changed is the keeper for an SKX rubber one, as you mentioned is very sharp and tends to catch on things. The only niggle is that I'm not a fan of the large buckles so I will change that to a smaller gold one later. I prefer the inside of my wrist to be as uncluttered as possible especially when desk diving. Love your reviews and have a happy new year to you and all your followers.
I bought one last year and love it. It is really comfortable on the wrist and the gold color it is well done by seiko, I like the combination between yellow gold and black rubber strap. 👍
I bought the SRP775 Turtle and I also did the Strapcode Jubilee. Plus, I opted for a sapphire crystal. I think it's strange that my SPR775 has a gold chapter ring and gold printing, but this model does not. Anyway, I love the Turtle. Great value, IMO.
Said it in another video ... please stay safe with the wild fires! We are all waiting for that bell indicating a new upload. That can’t happen without our favorite transplanted Aussie.
Nice one Jody, I just ordered this bronze 6105 homage from San Martin. Very impressed with their communication thus far. Reckon it could match the Gurtle for blinginess
Predict you will love the SM. I have same model (green dial) and it is truly an awesome piece. Out of the box running @ +-/- 0 spd. Agree their communications very good. Cheers.
I’ve got the save the ocean, blue fade to black model on a rubber strap. I’ve got the the black and silver traditional one as well. They also come on a Pepsi bezel which is gorgeous. If you shop a around you can get one of these beauties for under $300. I made an impulse buy at Maceys and spent nearly $500 on my first turtle. Great reliable movement and that trademark Seiko look. I just love my turtles!
Keith Lavallie I picked up my STO turtle on sale at Macy’s with an additional promotion etc and it came out to just under $250USD, lucky buy. So I got a hexad-O bracelet for it, it’s now my favorite watch
OMG! That watch looks absolutely SICK! with that gaudy-gold Strapcode bracelet.....I LOVE IT! Would I wear it? Definitely not. Well, probably not. At least, not as my everyday timepiece. But, prolly for special occasions. Overall, it's just a pretty typical Seiko amped-up with all that _"Hey, look at me...I'm wearing a gold watch!"_ bling you added. Happy New Year, Jody!
Oh yes, this watch gets you noticed. One of my favourites. The gold jubilee is excellent, but I went with the "Rollball" solid link bracelet that looks like an armour-plated rally strap. A conversation starter for sure.
@Motor City Cobra "It's called a Gurtle D'ahling!! It's Gold ...and Tur El a buzz word innit??? Set you back 300 nicker in 'Arrods" but look at the qualitee!!..it's an expression...of masculinity it says I will close that deal!!!....look how the Jubly bracelet catches the light. Yours for an 'undred, Now I can't be fairer than that..can I Rodders??!!
I just bought one for $350, which was the cheapest! It looks really amaizing with black strap instead of gold color band, because it coordinates with black dial and does not look goudy.
Honestly, that "alignment" is an embarrassment. I'm supposed to believe they can build a quality watch but they can't even make a dial and chapter ring where anything aligns? Cheap Invicta can do it, cheap Casio can do it, there is no excuse.
You would have thought by now that even when the watch community "lampoons" you publicly and associates your product with misalignment issues and whatever else, they would get their act together and sort it out. No, lets just release a new sports line and stop doing the SKX!!
Love this video lol. I'm always giving my wife a hard time on the rare occasion that she wears yellow gold, but I may pick this combo up just to troll her when she does
I have this exact watch and bracelet combination. LOVE IT! I got the angus jubilee so that the bracelet would better balance the girth of the turtle. I can't stand the metal keepers on the stock turtle straps, and I can never get them comfortably adjusted -- they're always too tight or too loose. Hence, all my Seiko divers have miltat jubilee bracelets. This is a watch with real presence and it cries out for a substantial matching bracelet. Welcome, Mr. X, to the golden turtle club.
Happy New Year Jody and wow a "blingy" watch to open the year with! I'm sure that Mr. X will be happy with the jubilee bracelet it gives the watch a completely different look and more bling!
Beautiful gold Seiko with that marvelous gold bracelet! I've never been crazy about that wavy style rubber strap. It is for sure comfortable but I'd rather have a bracelet or a nato strap over the Seiko style rubber strap. Anyway, great video Jody. Happy New Year!! 🎆🎉🎊
I must admit, a fully gold Seiko Turtle on a gold bracelet looks so awful, it actually goes full circle to awesome. Couldn't help but smile when I saw the whole thing! Great video!
Got the same alignment problem on my orange dial turtle. My blue one is ok. Honestly the gold casing looks strange on a diving watch for my tastes. Great enjoyable video as usual .
I forgive the lack of ceramic and sapphire. Then this is a 550 dollar gold watch. Most of us are tempted by this but have serious reservations about a gold anything. At the current market price, this is a very cool, wear it here and there piece. I shall think it's going to make it into my collection soon.... Makes you wonder where a 14 thousand dollar ( 10 thousand but somehow you pay 14 thousand) diver fits in any collection when you can have so much fun for so little.
..."ah, my eyes". Sums it up perfectly. Presence is only determined by the golden glow off the wrist. Seiko alignment, starting to make me wonder if I should even bother with a turtle or samurai. Stick to the Orient Kamasu at least it has sapphire.
Awesome watch and review, I love the bracelet as well .... I also want to send prayers and thoughts to those in Australia affected by the fires , GodBless from Alabama
@@bernardwadding I can't get hold of the StrapCode jubilee for love nor money. I had to take the original off due to that painful diver's extension. Since then I've had it on a cheap generic jubilee, an engineer, and a blue retro waffle strap.
Yes, that’s a good price for a Turtle. Be aware that with the release of the STO Great White pattern last year, the original STO Turtle and Samurai (aka the descending Blue Stripey) is already seeing a significant price drop.
I love Seiko divers. I have owned many turtles. The best was the SRPA19 (ZIMBE), but in the SKX days one could get a 777 turtle for $200, $20 - $30 more on a bracelet. One could get a Sumo for under $500 if he looked hard enough. I would not mind if Seiko upgraded their watches with the price increase (sapphire, AR, decent bracelets,…), but instead they sell the same watches for considerably higher prices. The JDM Presages watches still have many gems, but in the Divers are just not up to snuff with the microbrands
After customization, I received my Golden Turtle with flat sapphire and a ceramic fully lumed bezel. Did I pay more than the watch is worth financially? Absolutely. Was it worth it to me? ABSOLUTELY.
I own 16 Seikos (three of them Turtles) and, I promise you, not one single one is misaligned. I buy all my watches from my local AD and it is not a question that I have to pick one amongst a bunch of misaligned watches. I suspect (and this is just my musing) that some grey market watches may just be those that did not make the grade. Nonetheless, I don’t think it is a problem... you pay significantly less than you would at an AD and you simply have to have it aligned when you take it in for a service, eventually. Turtles are amazing watches, and I have always wanted that shape since seeing Captain Willard’s 6105. While I think they will continue to age very well, I simply do not like the silicon bands, nor do Turtles sit well on Natos, IMO. Two-piece canvass straps and elastic bands truly bring the Turtle into its own. Thanks for the review, Jody
