I just thought of a huge advantage to the way you are doing things with the trigger finger sequencing everything. You have the entire score all in one place, for easy back and piecing back together. Having the sequences on separate machines.. good chances it'd be hard to back everything up and then remember how everything goes together at a later date.
Hey I like how big the sound is. So very warm and analog sounding. How are you launching the vocal samples though? I'm not seeing where you're playing them from.
+MrGuyfella you are spot on. it is indeed the Korg Gadget sampler which I have connected to the Akai MPK mini to trigger the samples and also the pad sounds towards the end of the track
I bet the finger trigger also has a lot storage space / banks for many sequences/patterns as well. Thanks I'm going to watch more videos on the finger trigger now.
How good are the drum pads on the trigger finger? Do they have good sensitivity and don't wear your fingers out like the MPC 2000? What a steal $100 for velocity sensitive pads, a step sequencer, standalone even.. and that huge display.
I like the pads. They perhaps feel a little 'cheap' compared to say the Ableton Push pads but you can get good sensitivity out of them and you can also edit the velocity of each step in a sequence.
+Rezzonator Oh, well that's an advantage over the TR-8 sequencer :) I believe it's all the same volume level. I guess subtle changes in the velocity make for more realistic sounding drums?
Everything is just connected with wired midi cables. Not using Ableton at all for the sequencing. Just using it to record the audio for the video. I have considered using it for Link for the ipad but wanted to get away from using a computer. ipads are connected with irig midi 2
+Rezzonator Yeah I like to get away from the computer as well. So I guess I'd have to buy an iRig 2 for each ios device? You sequence everything on that finger tringer. SO it ihas a MIDI din cable on the OUT port to the IN of another and then the THRU to the IN of another and so forth? Then every part is on a separate channel? Sorry for all the questions. Newbie here
wasn't that sure about it when I first got it at Christmas but love it now. I use it just for sequencing everything. The midi flexibility of it is brilliant. It's great to sequence the TR8 as you can do 4 bar sequences instead of the limited 1 bar A and B patterns on the TR8
+Rezzonator oh very nice. it's just a controller or does it have built in samples as well to trigger? I see it's like $325 new but on ebay I see them selling for $100 used. At that price, and after seeing your performance, I'm really interested in what it can do :)
+Jennifer Gwinn yes it's just a controller. it does come with a big sound library which are awesome sounds but needs a computer to trigger those with a DAW. They seem to have dropped in price recently . can pick them up new in the UK for around £100 last time I looked.
+Jennifer Gwinn yes. it's connected to everything so it is sequencing the ipads and also the TR8 and system 1 synth. You can assign any of the 16 pads to any midi channel and any midi note. you also get 4 banks for the pads to scroll through so you have great flexibilty
+Rezzonator So you can save your sequences to disk easily? I guess you'd have to do that over usb. So you have 16 sequences. On of those 16 would be for the drums? and each other keyboard part would take another of those 16 slots?
