I do love wheaters, and I've been passing on Bernheim. I understand Josh with "mood pours". I sometimes stand in front of my bottles and think "what sounds good tonight?"
Out West here we have Dry Fly in WA state.. farm to bottle wheat whiskey, available cask strength.. it's smooth as silk, lovely for many uses, and so purely authentic as a product in every way... but yeah, as wheat, it's not a top shelf sipper .. doesn't compete in that bracket in my opinion.. but I still love it for what it is. I think Dry Fly farms it then distills it I mean how cool is that?
Totally forgot this was in there. 😂 It’s far more bourbon-adjacent than anything else, and fits better in this pool than the pool of international whisk(e)y.
I was listening to "Fantastic Voyage" earlier tonight. 😂 Josh is in a disco/funk mood. First "Fantastic Voyage" and then "Brick House." 👏 6:11 😮 I liked the regular Bernheim three years ago, so I want to try the barrel proof...though this review does somewhat trouble me. But I'm safe, at least for now - when I could afford Bernheim Barrel Proof a while back, I couldn't find any Bernheim.
Am I the only one that seems to have an issue with headaches after a wheated pour, almost like an allergic reaction please no comments about drinking half the bottle , it happens with one or two ounces.
I picked up a Makers' cask strength one time. It was the only bottle I ever had of Makers. I brought it to my buddy's and we had a couple pours while shooting pool. The next day, we both commented on the headache we had. We did not drink an excessive amount at all. That's the only time I had such a reaction to a whiskey. Makers is a wheated bourbon, but I thought it might be something about the Makers process rather than the wheat. I have had both regular and cask strength Larceny and didn't notice getting such a headache.
