Just because she has a unique voice does not make her a horrible singer. She is in a class of her own. Singers like her don't just pop out of nowhere, they're special. As for the public being stupid, I do believe they are stupid. But, at one point in time, they were able to agree and support someone as awesome as Alanis.
Anyone who says Alanis has a horrible voice is a complete dipshit brainless wet fart of a human and I would literally not trust One thing they told me and I would completely shun them from my life. Preferably get them a ticket to Pluto and they can sit there for a little bit
LOL of I'm 15 and I came here from listining to my mom's CD's. Mostly because I'm bored and felt like seeing what my mom listend to when she was a kid,and I am not dissapointed.
The part when she says enough about me...enough about you let's talk about life...relates to the quote by Eleanor Roosevelt "great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss ppl."
Alanis was ahead of her time. She was my musical idol in the 90s. Her music moved me then and now that I'm approaching my 40s, it's on an even deeper level. No other artist has a voice and self-authored poetry like Alanis. She is legendary in my book.
THIS! JUSTICE! I felt that. CHILLS. At 15 I didn’t get it. The way she SCREAMS that. At 41 and some life behind me now I GET IT now, sister. Trust me, I get it. And her crazy, maniacal harmonizing right after? She’s breaking all the rules. I love her. BRUTAL. Yes ma’am!! I’m sorry she had to go through whatever influence this song at such a young age but this is priceless.
Alyscha, a roommate of mine brought this home when I was in my early 30's and I happened to be playing my Stratocaster. Thinking it was going to be a basic "young angry White girl" catharsis, I was stupefied to be listening to a fully fledged work of art which the Country embraced en masse. At best it should have been a cult classic instead of becoming one of the best selling albums of all time. Glad you stuck with it and "grew into it." It truly is remarkable that a 19 year old could exorcise demons in such a cogent and coherent manner. Fortunately, I've usually treated Women well so I could listen to her masterwork with very little residual guilt. Alanis was like a siren savant to many males, instead of some "finger pointing harpy." I enjoyed your comment and hope that you're doing well and still keeping your ears and mind open. Take care, stay well & ✌!
Yes!!! It absolutely does. Makes me look back and laugh at how much we felt my generation related with this song in the 1990’s. That album is classic though. It will always feel relevant.
Alanis's Jagged little pill helped me through a very difficult divorce from a covert narcissist. As you can imagine belting out these tunes with her really helped me disperse a lot of anger and move on. For which I'm eternally grateful I still sing her songs today at sixty.
I saw her for the first time ever in concert last Saturday. I was completely awed by her. She's otherworldly. I don't know how else I could describe her
All I really want.. is to be even more grateful than I already am that this song strikes a chord deeper than it ever did 20+ years ago, and I am, and I yam, reeling 😃
Do I stress you out My sweater is on backwards and inside out And you say how appropriate I don't want to dissect everything today I don't mean to pick you apart you see But I can't help it There I go jumping before the gunshot has gone off Slap me with a splintered ruler And it would knock me to the floor if I wasn't there already If only I could hunt the hunter And all I really want is some patience A way to calm the angry voice And all I really want is deliverance Do I wear you out You must wonder why I'm so relentless and all strung out I'm consumed by the chill of solitary I'm like Estella I like to reel it in and then spit it out I'm frustrated by your apathy And I am frightened by the corrupted ways of this land If only I could meet the Maker And I am fascinated by the spiritual man I am humbled by his humble nature What I wouldn't give to find a soulmate Someone else to catch this drift And what I wouldn't give to meet a kindred Enough about me, let's talk about you for a minute Enough about you, let's talk about life for a while The conflicts, the craziness and the sound of pretenses Falling all around...all around Why are you so petrified of silence Here can you handle this? Did you think about your bills, your ex, your deadlines Or when you think you're gonna die Or did you long for the next distraction And all I need know is intellectual intercourse A soul to dig the hole much deeper And I have no concept of time other than it is flying If only I could kill the killer All I really want is some peace man a place to find a common ground And all I really want is a wavelength All I really want is some comfort A way to get my hands untied And all I really want is some justice...
Sabina Csok Well I hate to tell u this Honey, but a lot of ppl fell in love w her. That album was the highest selling of it's time w a record of over 30 million copies sold.
Was he in her twenties when she wrote this song? I was 14 when this album came out and I remember mtv and vh1 seemed to market her as being older then I think she was at the time I dont think mtv knew what to do with her exactly as far as a persona went because she was such an Intelligent person. So many of the 90s female artists I grew up with sound as good today as they did back then...pj harvey, kim deal, tori amos, Liz Phair, courtney love, kat bjelland, gwen stefani, tanya donnelly, kim gordon, sheryl crow, jewel, and Alanis.
and all WE ALL really want is some justice, some common ground, frightened by the corrupted ways of this land, the conflicts, the craziness and pretenses falling all around, all we really want is a place to find common ground, some comfort, get my hands untied and SOME JUSTICE....
She is so iconic these lyrics to this particular song are fabulous they couldn't have been spoken better they should be spoken more so people know how people REALLY feel....🔥💯📌🏆😍❤️💎
If you karaoke this song, the hardest part is the “and I am frigh’ tened by the cu’rupt’ed waysofthisLand ‘ … That’s uniquely crushed by Alanis, among many other parts in her songs, you could steal the lyrics but never capture the spirit and passion, nor the singular genius that she brings.
I wanted to let you know ...you did an awesome job timing of the lyrics to this, one of my favorite Alanis songs! I wanted to know all the words to the song and you did a great job. Thanks again, you obviously "get it"....Isn't she's awesome? :)
@punishedexistence I dare to say she's beyond those guys. I mean, when I read some of her lyrics I'm just stunned of how little recognition she gets. Maybe she's too good to be recognized in her own time. PISSES ME OFF to see singers like Rihanna be more valued than this chick.
It really depends what she means by "Killer". In her "Thank you" song she says "Thank you terror", but there she is talking about her own internal terror. I think "Killer" might be a feeling, like shame for example.
It's so not only NOT out of time; It's just absolutely the BEST, girl! Way to GO! Keep on doing your thing, please. We need more of "you" out there. Thanks!
Thanks for the advice lyrics, May the Lord Most High Pour out His Blessings upon you, Praise to You Lord JESUS CHRIST Amen Thank You Lord. I love these creators- they're truly Amazing. I'm always down with it praising the Lord with Holy Spirit AMEN
Been looking for this song for almost FOREVER now. I heard it playing over the loudspeaker in my school's gym and thought it was a really catchy song. Never found out the name until now.
Jagged Little Pil was the one album that me and my partner both liked, and it was always on in the car. I rediscovered it recently found it much more profound and deep than I realized. As a younger person I should have paid more attention.
wow, i was just listening to the first minute of it and for some reason, the lyrics really hit hard! the sound of a woman with some deep issues. i can see why she chose the path later on in life to find some inner peace. i love this song.
Almost 30 years later and I still get goosebumps….her songs are appropriate today yesterday and the decade before etc etc…she sings about what females don’t (cannot) say…Love you Alanis ❤
Her voice is so bizarre. I'm going to be honest...I wanted to hate this song. I wanted to hate her music all together. But something kept bringing me back. Damnit her music is so freakin catchy.
That's right.! Divine timing, listened for the first time, having heard many X's. TY Uni Verse One Voice "OM" Saw her and Jason Meranz 25th anniversary Jagged Little Pill
I think some people would prefer an over produced, cookie cutter album, that is auto tuned to perfection.. but this is so much better. It’s crunchy, and raw… there is beauty in her imperfect vocal tones, and you can feel her heart and soul being poured into the notes. It’s a shame to think that we may never get real music like this anymore. And that isn’t just because I’m getting older and the new music “is not my style”… I grew up in the 90’s and there were a lot of new sounds and variety in music. I am extremely open to hearing new sounds.. but the music being produced today just lacks all heart and soul. It seems to me that modern music has the artist’s vocals taking a back seat while the beats and production drives the car, whereas it used to be the opposite. It used to be that the artist was in the drivers seat with their vocals driving the beats and production. This is the kind of music that speaks to me I don’t hear this energy in todays music.. I hear catchy beats with zero effort from the vocalist. Of course I’m generalizing and there is still some good music being created, but not at the scale it used to be.. it’s like trying to find a tiny diamond in a mountain of dirt.
Being Canadian like Alanis and I went through knowing a kindred for a friend this song makes sense to me being 40 years of age under too much corruption during Covid I want peace I always be grateful for this man
I totally agree this is my idea of good music. Yet justin beiber and all these little kids are getting more fame. I've always loved Alanis Morissette her words are so powerful
Well she was popular for a reason, because so many people loved her. Music is about personal style and taste, not everyone likes Stevie Nicks voice, or Jewel. But they are considered legends because of their poetry (songs) and musical talent and uniquness. Not everyone is going to like the same artists, but they are famous for a reason, because they have a large following.
My mother has had this album jagged pill for 30 still has it I listened to it when I was comping to this camping site love her a fan might be going to her live concert soon I really want to see it xx..?_¿
The public isn't stupid, you just have a different taste in music than others. Also not everyone likes the same music, which is why there is so much diversity in musical styles and types. Having different tastes doesn't mean people are stupid, it just means we aren't all exactly the same. You might want to, if not broaden your horizens, at least not piss on others who are different than you.
It's true I've had my work scrubs inside out and backwards. I got dressed in the basement. It was dark down there.. Cloths out of dryer. Went to a gas (I lived next door I was in there all the time soo it wasn't as bad) station someone told me.
How did she do this? I'm a 37 year old man, and I had this cassette tape when it came out. For those saying it hits different now, you couldn't be more right.
Were you to walk down a street anywhere in Italy with your shirt on backwards and inside out you are letting everyone know you are expecting to be invited to lunch....
Wow. I'm not sure if you're joking around or not, but it makes perfect sense to me that Katy Perry would look up her. Have you ever heard Katy Perry sing live? If you haven't, look it up and then you'll understand why that simply reenforces my comment.
@waterprincess13 It's flying. Time is the killer. Both 'if only I could hunt the hunter' and 'if only I could kill the killer have the same meaning. The moment you kill, you become the killer. The moment you hunt, you become the hunter.
@waterprincess13 nope it's flying, like the saying 'the time just flies by' and she sais the killer bit because in an earlier lyric she sais 'if only i could hunt the hunter'. plus the idea of time dying doesn't really make sense.
Also NOTHING I said was grammatically wrong, you just think that is...because you want to believe you are smarter then what you really are. Please, don't do it to yourself.
