Great episode because we get the only other time besides the toast between Archie and George in Lionel's Engagement, that Archie and George get along. They actually are close to sounding like friends here. That's how great the chemistry was between Carroll and Sherman. They were actually good friends offscreen.
Actually, after Sherman got his own series, he didn't talk to Carroll much. Maybe they were just friends during the years they worked together on the same show.
@@steveendicott1855 remember when Archie told his brother he heard his father said that if they put Archie's brain in a bird, the bird would fly backwards.
I laugh because Archie is always saying that the Jews are always cheap but Archie is always getting conned as soon as someone says I’ll give you something for free...Archie was the biggest cheapskate of them all
The difference being Archie with cheap because he was poor and had no money he was implying constantly that Jews are cheap because they like to save a buck and that's been my experience with them too
@@EddieLeal I guess he didn't want to admit he'd been taken to Irene. He does the same thing with Mike. I think when George mentions the money amount and what they call it, he finally saw the writing on the wall.
Scooter w aluminum siding around a brick house ??? Pay shipping and installation on free siding ??? Does a rabbit like another rabbit??lmmfao archie was stupid immature and gullible...
The late Dennis Patrick was in plenty of TV shows in the 1950s thru 1991. He and his dog was killed in a California wildfire trying to save his home in 1992.
This is a perfect example of how the combination of greed, stupidity, and blind stubbornness lead to people making the dumbest decisions ever. It’s amazing how many people I know that have made these kinds of mistakes in the past, from family members to friends to co-workers. And in every case they got defensive like Archie did trying to justify their stupidity. Some people…..🤦🏻♂️.
Dennis Patrick, who appears in the opening, would play the leader of the local KKK in the episode (a few years later) where Archie unwittingly joined. There were other actors who had two or more appearances (in different roles) on this show; namely Ken Lynch, Jack Somack, and others too numerous to mention.
@@sha11235 That's right. I got to thinking about it a few minutes ago. Mr. Peck also was on an episode of "Archie Bunker's Place." He played a PA announcer at a horse-racing track.
The only reason Gordy took Archie was because he was mad at him for threatening to tell the cops he was in the Queens chapter of the KKK. I sure wish I had a friend like Irene though. You signed a contract to put aluminum siding around a brick house? 😂🤣
Good thing Irene was persistent in helping Archie and didn't give up easily or the con artist wouldn't have been caught and Archie wouldn't have gotten out of the contract.
Maybe because their relationship is not close not so much for respect but I think her relationship is very close to Louise Irene and Frank Lorenzo. She has never called Frank Mr Lorenzo because Irene and Frank are both close to the Bunkers while George is distant. Archie always called George plain Jefferson. My guess a great show great performance 👏
It's amazing how the human condition never changes. A con-man (in a suit and a good sales pitch) sells people a fraudulent bill of goods and no matter what the facts are, they are unprepared to admit they were duped/conned by this man. The man is a lifelong grifter and his company has a dubious reputation. Instead of rethinking the situation, the conned folks get angry at those showing them they were clearly conned. Some things never change: January 06
In reality it would have been Edith that fell for the guys act and Archie would be the one thinking it was a bad idea. Also it's clear those houses are not brick, don't know why they wrote that it was in the script.
I use to watch all in the family in the 70's and I just saw a few shows I can't hardly watch any more Archie is the stupidest man ever it's not funny any more.
If you watched it as a kid you dont get it. Archie was raised in the depression . Then WW2 Which he was far from harm. Still this is the way all major urban areas were. You had irish. German. Italian. Neighborhoods that were theirs. You could be beatened up cause your crossed the wrong side of the street. In 70 now the latin and blacks were something that all the others felt threaten by. Look up the episode when archie first meets george? It is classic. George Jefferson was as preduice as Archie. Cause after hauser street they finnaly got a piece of the pie. What is not funny is having some moron turn back the clock before this. Anyone that has color is a danger to america. Yet our biggest threat since ww2 is greeted with open arms.
