@Julian R Your meaningless lol. Penny chooses to die on her own terms, fighting for her friends and leaving her powers with the only person she could trust them with. Nothing to do with Jaune "being a self insert who takes character screen time" since he only plays support to the arcs of Ren, Penny and Oscar.

@Julian R Miles voicing Jaune and being one of the writers of the show does not make Jaune a self insert. It's an exhausting cliche in every argument against Jaune, even when the writers swerve around the tropes related to a self-insert (OP, prior knowledge, too much plot relevance, etc). If anything, the characters getting the spotlight are Ironwood, Penny and maybe even Winter. Heck, Ren gets more screen time and has an entire arc as opposed to Jaune here. And please, RWBY not getting screentime? They are given a whole lot of it this whole volume, its just how unimportant Ruby and Blake are that you may keep forgetting. If you haven't noticed Weiss this Volume, then you might be coming down with a case of dementia.

@@JoeyBoey-rl3uj he has the luck of qrow the situation of oz and Salem but still pushes forward; volume 6 had the idea that the adults are useless for one reason or another so they need to do this themselves and jaune and Oscar prove this completely

@@aerialmacaroon6312 I mean... Its less adults, and more Ozpin getting to relieve all his past trauma, Qrow getting absolutely sloshed (can't blame him), and Cordo having a stick up her ass. They had plenty help from Jaune's sister and Sister in law, and from Maria "The coolest gradma" Calavera.

More than that, he'll definitley have a major role during Volume 9.

He's my favorite character too. Hopefully, Weiss will help him through the trauma he's sure to face

I think that was the point. Neither Ruby or Jaune was technically ready to be a Huntress/Huntsman but Ozpin appointed them as leaders to prove it takes more than skill to become a Huntress/Huntsman

I don't hate Jaunne. I just hate how the writers keep making him the Protagonist. Like most of the important stuff was done by him. Fixing team RWBY, healing Penny, infiltrate Salem's whale, Killing Penny and was the last to fight Cinder. Literally all of these stuff should be done by Ruby. Worse yet now volume 9 is just going to be him and team RWBY where he helps the team get out of their depression.... Again.

@@salamander8055 that's sort of dumb though. There's plenty of good stuff out there with protagonists who aren't the title characters. Take Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 4 Diamond is Unbreakable for example. Koichi Hirose is written as the protagonist of the part, and it doesn't detract from it in the slightest.

@@salamander8055 well I PERFECTLY UNDESTRAND your point, but the way the fandom hates him for this is stil stupid. If that is their only reason, they should hate Miles Luna instead. HE is the one that keeps making his self-insert do the most important stuff, while also pretending that he is still a secondary character. BTW I do not think you have to worry about him being too rilevant yet again in volume 9. Miles left RT and if we realized something about Ruby since volume 6 is that she hates every man who makes harsh decisions for the greater good. Without Miles in the CRWBY and with Ruby (probably) hating him, I can see Jaune either being removed from the show or getting killed. Like, I hate to say this, I always liked him, but there are just too many hints goig in that direction: -his sword breaking immediatly after killing Penny, as if he had served his purpose -him having CINDER as his nemesis while being inspired to JEANNE D'ARC -the existence of Oscar, who is literally Jaune 2.0 and is slowly taking his place.: the weakest and less expert fighter in the group, yet the one who supposedly has the most potential.

They're just salty he has so much going for him as a character. Ruby doesn't have that much development so they take it out on Jaune as if being good takes something away from Ruby.

Jaune Arc is honestly one of if not the best written character of RWBY

He is a self insert. No wonder people like him. People just like self insert characters. Which is why Isekai is such a popular genre.

Honestly, Jaune had the better potential/qualification to become the main character - to become the Akko or Deku of _RWBY_ - than Ruby herself. He is also the main male character.

He's not THE lead character but I do think he's just as much of a main character as Weiss, Blake, and Yang.

@@Obi-Wan_Kenobi Yeah Ruby is the Lead cause well the show is called RWBY which even they've joked is just her name spelt wrong. Weiss, Blake and Yang act as main characters but also as her support which is a odd line to toe. Ass opposed to Jaune who while is a support to Ruby has his own storyline of growing and coming into his own. Sometimes I feel like Jaune's more of a main character then the other members of (R)WBY because his Storyline is constant. And because it not focused on as much in turn it hasn't reached a conclusion like Blake's White Fang Storyline. Yang's powerlessness, meeting her mom storyline. Even Weiss's storyline is reaching its conclusion now. The point is Jaune's storyline is him simply coming into his own. And while its not as focused as the girls it's advantage is that it doesn't really have a conclusion.

@@danielmartinez9432 Ruby is similar to Akame from Akame ga kill. Despite the show being named after them, they got taken to the back seat by a male lead using a sword.

So if Jaune is the Tatsumi of the group, he's probably gonna kill Cinder then die from burning up and saving a bunch of people.

Jaune is just best boy. He is the spotlight. Character growth, development and is also still possessing the underdog status. He's the easiest one to root for, and his scenes are excellent. He took the spotlight even if he only has 7 minutes.

@@ambiguousduck2333 And that's the reason why people say he stole the spotlight. ALL that was supposed to be Ruby's. Ruby was the youngest and least experienced hunter out of her team, is supposed to be a nerd, is the most optimistic one out of her team and was surrounded by more talented and experienced young huntresses. She had ALL that setup and they did NOTHING with it. Instead they gave it all to Jaunne.

And jaune is the weakest and have the most character development he may not be the youngest but he is the weakest and least experienced when the series started. And thats why we root for him more than ruby because his the underdog.

@@salamander8055 no bro. That has nothing to do with jaune and everything to do with ruby herself because she's a static character. Crwby set themselves up for failure from day one by making ruby a fighting genius who got into beacon early. She was never an underdog, didn't struggle (except with making friends for like 2 eps) and there's no real reason to root for her other than the fact that the show follows her. There was literally nowhere for her character to go. It's why weiss is way more popular than her. She had racist and elitist views she had to learn to let go of aka character growth. Ruby has nothing like that. The only thing they could focus on as a result with ruby was her growing into her role as a leader which they've consistently highlighted. At the end of the day Ruby is just not an interesting character outside of her silver eyes from a story perspective. She's like deku from my hero in that regard. That's why everyone keeps overshadowing her, including side characters just introduced. You could remove all of jnpr from the story and she'd still be the least developed among her team. Her v9 breakdown will be great character development but it's not something that would've worked as well earlier.

Yeah but knowing who he's based off of... Boys probably gonna die a virgin by the end of the series. Sad but true.

I'm a big time White Shipper myself, I would not Landcaster Nightshade or Dragon Slayer either or even a harem But White Knight makes the most since being Jaune use to have a crush on Weiss, and Weiss is base on Snow White and Snow White is known for being revived by her true love and it was Jaune who revived her, and aside from Jaune being base on Joan of Arc he also has elements of King Arthur and Siegfried, and Guinevere's name means "White Enchantress" making Weiss Guinevere to Jaune's King Arthur, and mention to me that Weiss is Brunnhilda to Jaune's Siegfried, Plus Jaune is best guy and Weiss is best girl.

@@jctwitedragon Wow. I've never thought of Jaune saving Weiss with his Semblance that way. Or the Weiss being Guinevere to Jaune being King Arthur. You may want to forget the Brunnhilda part as she helped kill Siegfried. But, I do see the similarities with Guinevere and Arthur. You need to spread this around the RWBY FNDM so they can see it too

@@azymondiaskingofthedragons2897 Braunnhilda was also in a deep sleep and Siegfried woke her up as well, and Brunnhilda was kept from Siegfried by her father "Oldin" just like Jock kept Weiss from everything, and like Siefried Jaune has suffered a lot, Ahh here's another King Arthur thing there's a theory that Jaune will inherit the Sword of Destruction, and in the volum 8 final Cinder broke Crocea Mor, And Calibur "The Sword in The Stone" was broken in battle which Arthur replace it with Excalibur. So Crocea Mor is his Sword in The Stone, and The Sword of Destruction is his Excalibur.

Each of the crewmate literally has an arc developing and explaining their charcter before they even join luffy not to mention the development they get after they join or the multitude of developed side characters(stuff rwby dreams it could do well)

Technically speaking he still has his Longsword mode for his sword and shield. Depending on how much of the blade is needed to engage it, he could still very well use that as his main weapon or somehow Crocea Mors will be fixed who knows.

A shield makes a rather effective bludgeoning weapon in the right hands, which I’d qualify Jaune as. Though I’m sure he’s going to get a new weapon in V9

He probably didn’t have enough Aura to properly connect. He wasn’t able to really make the connection before Penny stopped him.

Jaune of course because he have more strong will in difficult situasion and it proved in the last episode of this volume

Juane is better as leader since he keeps his cool and put his feeling out of his choices and when everyone is hot headed he snap them back to focus on what needs to be done. Even after taking so many L's he knew what needs to be done first we know he want cinder dead more then anyone but he know what needs to be done and don't just let's his emotions take over
