@@koteeji1295 there's a TV Trope called the warf effect, which comes from warf in Star Trek, we are shown that he is strong but his main plot device is that he loses fights to demonstrate how powerful the enemies are. The shadow beasts were hyped up just to be slammed so we'd really know how strong the phantom troupe are, and Uvo's death was a classic "strong power Vs better tactics" which we see a lot in hxh

My favorite thing about the Heaven's Arena arc was how the trio failed to realize how bad their plan actually was. They all wanted to be floor masters, but seemed to get their wins by mainly targeting rookies and using underhanded tactics. Even if they got their 10 victories, they'd still be hopelessly outmatched by the floor masters.
The Phantom Troupe may have worldwide fame and status but that doesn’t mean they’re individually recognizable. People may know Chrollo from Heaven’s Arena but they probably don’t know he’s the leader of the Troupe. As seen when Kortopi’s copies of their bodies were discovered by police, they didn’t know those people were the Troupe members until they were told they were. So basically they know of the Troupe, and they know Chrollo, but they don’t know they’re one in the same. They know the Phantom Troupe by reputation not by identity.
I see the Troupe as having notoriety on the scale of CEO in the fortune 500. Public known information? Yes. Have they done illegal things? Yeah probably. Could you name/recall them randomly? Maybe if you're attentive to this kind of stuff.
True until the anime did this stupid thing where Gon and Killua got a paper with all of the images of the Phantom Troupe (if I recall correctly) and that's how they tracked Nobunaga and the string girl. If I'm wrong plz correct me. I'm saying this to say that the anime tried to make it so that their identities aren't private, probably just that no one in interested enough to do that much research on them and those who are probably die from trying to capture one of them.
Hisoka has a hunter license, he's immune to prosecution by governments. He only can be officially hunted by other hunters by their own will or over bounties posted by non govenrment officials.
I wonder who survived to put a bounty on him, by what we know of his “friends” illumi, and the phantom troop, but it was probably one of the zodiacs since they have confirmed to know hisoka is a murderer
@@matteocicaloni I guess I was too vague about my point. Hisoka and Illumi took the exam to get a license and be able to get away with a lot of crime and have access to more intel. This youtuber questioned why they'd let Chrollo participate in Heaven's Arena if he's a famous criminal... in the Yorknew City arc Chrollo had access to the hunter's site without Shalnark at some point, so either he was allowed because he's a hunter or because Hisoka was able to arrange it because he is, if a hunter hires a criminal they probably also carry some immunities from their employer. There are many options for this.
that is incorrect, the official rule for hunters license is: 3. Reduced legal responsibility for murder. However, a Hunter can be prosecuted after repeated acts of murder without justification[7] or if they attack the envoy of a person with political authority. They can still be prosecuted, governments just dont bother I guess
I dont think many people know what the phantom troupe members actually look like or what their names are. They walked through Yorknew city and no one recognized them

In any other anime, we would have seen the main characters fight their way to the very top of the tournament. I initially was surprised how suddenly they dropped the tournament, but then I later realized that Hunter X Hunter always goes against expectations. They weren't there to win, but just to do a bit of leveling up before continuing their quest to find Ging.
I mean if you think about it, the fact that Heaven's arena is hailed as a venue for the mightiest warriors, and Netero, you know they guy who dedicated his life to martial arts and finding a worthy challenge, chooses to blaintanly ignore it (besides the non-canon film) kinda tells you the real insignificance of this place.

Because HxH always takes a jab against more traditional shonen tropes, Like the obligatory tournament or power levels. Togashi already did both with Yuyu Hakusho so i guess he wanted to avoid overusing that trope.
Gon Vs Hisoka in Heavens Arena is easily one of the best fights in the anime. Wouldn't mind seeing Chrollo Vs Hisoka animated, but I'll probably be middle aged by time it happens.
It also shows how much Gon and Hisoka are alike when it comes to fighting. Hisoka has a lot of tricks around Bungee gum. But gon had like 20 tricks all based on throwing the arena floor at people.

I think Chrollo was already a floor master. You have to wonder how Hisoka knew about chrollo to begin with. And i don't think he just came across the spider. Hisoka probably knew Chrollo from Heaven Arena. And Chrollo may be the reason hisoka was there to begin with. But Chrollo seems to be kind of Elusive, that may be the reason Hisoka Dropped one time and instead investigated until somehow discovered Chrollo was with the spiders. My theory is that hisoka knew Chrollo from watching him in heavens arena when Chrollo, at some point went there to collect nen powers.He wanted to follow his prey, as he does all the time. And realized his prey was a bigger fish he believed. So he infiltrated the spiders to be always close to this elusive opponent. I believe Chrollo went to heavens Arena to collect powers for his book, Hisoka was there also only for curiosity. Chrollo kept raking up ranks and Hisoka watched him. When that happened Hisoka decided Chrollo was his next prey,

I don't think someone as elusive as chrollo would be a floor master, there's no point. He's the leader of a group of bandits that love to steal, what would he gain from heavens arena? Nothing. I think its pretty obvious he became one to fight hisoka because he plan relied so heavily on it. It's pretty straight forward if you don't over think it
Honestly,I wanted to see Battle Olympia. You can't definitively say that either Castro or Hisoka are good/bad representations of Floor Masters,since we never saw a single one outside of Hisoka and Chrollo. If it were up to me,I'd say that a Floor Master is close to the level of the average Phantom Troupe member.
Hisoka didn't forfeit against Kastro, 3 of the 4 points scored against Hisoka were by Kastro. Hisoka's 3 losses are from him failing to register in time.
people recognize the PT by their tattoos not their names though so chrollo would essentially be fighting anonymously in heavens arena. they know chrollo but they don’t know he’s the leader of the phantom troupe

So regarding the whole “why chrollo isn’t apprehended when participating in heavens arena?” A lot of maps suggest that heavens arena exists outside V5 territory on the eastern end of they African looking continent, meaning that if the V5 is the governing body that wants him captured and trialled then they have no legal ground to do so in heavens arena. This is something to also keep in mind when considering how easy the competition was in heavens arena, given that it would exist outside the jurisdiction of the hunters association much like the kakin empire did. At least, that’s my understanding of it, the hunter’s association seems directly tied to the v5 politically, which makes its actions outside of its territory somewhat dubious. Although that brings in the question on how they can just internationally forbid the excursion to the dark continent. At the same time, also makes me wonder why Europe would or should have any say on America or Russia not being allowed to conquer the moon during the Cold War. Politics aren’t so simple, I guess.
I'm not sure about Kastro, but I believe Hisoka himself said he had a fair chance had he stayed composed. Hisoka just beat him psychologically. Because even though his nen ability is presented as super inefficient, we actually see examples later of Nen users with an ability opposite to their natural affinity, like Morel and Netero. He's still clearly very strong even for a nen user

The only reason Hisoka fough Kastro was to see if he learned anything since to him he had potential wich is rare , hisoka tends to have high standards, wich means that, If Kastro actually didn't spend time trying to dominate a different nen type, he could have been a match for Hisoka. When he realized Kastro just... wasted his time . Hisoka got so dissapointed he spent the entire match playing with him like he was a toy. Hisoka didn't tell Kastro he was never going to beat him just as mockery or because Kastro was Weak. It's because Kastro doesn't have the will to perfect his own potential and instead tried really to dominate a nen type he couldn't dominate . Kastro was wasting his Nen.
@@undertaker7907 Bungee Gum isn't about the power at all. It's all about how it's simplicity could be so devious.Hisoka expaining his power is a trick. He always has a trick under the sleeve and it's the potential. When he explain his skills he never says to wich extent he can use them. Bungee gum seems to be a very simple power, but the extent Hisoka can exploit it is one of the broadest in the series.

I subscribed not because I lost the Chrollo or Chrolno, but because I got interested in the anime and recently started watching HxH because of your videos (I'm now in Yorknew City Arc)
Now that I think about it, chrollo probably met hisoka at heavens arena also there was a third possible floor master because there was a random shot of a person during the middle of gon’s fight with hisoka, he explained some of the judges actions though I don’t know if it’s cannon or not but if it is, there is a higher than average chance, since hisoka was at the nine win mark and this was his tenth battle
Hearing the anime ended 7 years ago kind of hurt my heart. I was late to the 2011 anime. After a break up in May of 2014 I needed something new to fill the void. I spent 2-3 weeks making it the only show I watched. Even though Chrollo is my favorite character, I couldn't wait to see what was next for Gon. (When he lost to knuckle I cried internally) How he would progress without nen and what is this Dark Continent? I was excited to have caught up with the original releases at 147. I was there... Next week I'll be able to join discussion forums with strangers and talk about my new favorite anime. I felt a sense of achievement... like my parents would love me properly after that. So... the next week... I tried reading the manga after.... I got caught up in 2016... I regret it... I still wont watch One Piece though.

I didn't read chrollo episode because im collecting the manga and it'staking its time in my country. but was it mentioned Chrollo was the phantom troupe leader in heavens Arena? Also Chrollo is almost never recognized by anyone without that person dying. The only person who knows Chrollo's face and knows he's part of the spider is Kurapika. There is also the chance that Chrollo was always a floor master, think about it. The man needs to steal powers. And he only needs to DEFEAT his opponents, not necessarily kill them. Wich is a good farming place. My point is that. Heaven's arena staff doesn't know Chrollo is part of the Spider Chrollo is a floor master because he collected powers in Heavens Arena. Hisoka probably knew that, and that's why he was trying to gain ranks to begin with. But he had a twofold plan and also at some point discovered Chrollo was with the spiders, wich is why he infiltrated. What im saying is... I don't think Hisoka knew about Chrollo because of the Spiders... I think he knew Chrollo because of Heaven's Arena, and later knew about the spiders, possibly following him. Because... He's Hisoka, and Hisoka follows his preys. If you think about it why would Hisoka Infiltrate a super secret thieves group looking for one man alone? Because he was after that man. Chrollo. The floor master of Heaven's Arena.
There's a subtle social heirarchy created by Nen use that kinda shows itself through Heavens Arena. Most people dont use nen, to the point where they dont even know it exists. Any Nen use is gonna show as having literal superpowers. It creates a plateu, do you want to excell in your Nen use and advance or do you want to get comfortable being a god among insects and never improve?
I was getting close to losing my will to believe this series will ever come back and…yeah I still don’t believe, this is as dead as it gets. I’m more likely to see the next Game of Thrones book than any continuation of HxH.

@@TheZackofSpades I agree, though I do find it weird how many projects will seemingly reach a natural conclusion only to then inextricably continue. You see it so often in anime it's almost expected. That's the business I suppose, but it does leave a bad taste in your mouth when series that could have been great get dragged on until they are cancelled or just fade away.
@@kostaspassias3815 which is exactly why HxH should have ended after the election arc. Gon hunted down his dad, they bonded on the world tree, the end. The protagonist accomplished his main goal and everyone important had a well done character arc. Why keep going and try to write a story in a setting that is supposed to be dangerous beyond human comprehension? No matter how he draws the dark continent it's going to be disappointing. Nothing will compare to the hype. Here, let me finish the series here and now: the baby prince is unable to control his nen beast, a beast with the ability to put the prince in an indestructible bubble right before detonating like a nuclear warhead. Nen beast explodes, everyone on the Whale one dies except the baby prince who drifts around in his nen bubble until he is picked up by a passing crab boat who's captain adopts him and they all live happy lives catching crabs together, oh and they continue working on the boat too. (Get it. It's a double entendre!) The end.
Compared to all the vague gray areas and straight up story building retcons in almost all other anime... HxH doesn't have many and a lot of them can be explained without headcanon and just normal context clues or deductive reasoning. Like, if they had a random order or ranked order for challenging floor masters they would've specified. Her saying "a," floor master just seems like implying you can choose any of the multiple FMs.
I imagine the floor masters around the same level as the shadow beasts. Maybe a little stronger. They represent the pinnacle of nen abilities that are still for hire.
Zoldycs are the strongest in.this.series not to.mention.they.can explore freely.to.dark.continent.and.why nanika was with the zoldyc as far i.remember.only prime netero is able to survive of grandfather of zeno.
I'd say for the most part they're like pro fighters in the real world. Not necessarily comparable to the most dangerous Assasins, Soldiers and mercenaries as they're used to a more "clean" form of fighting (even though heavens arena is way more dangerous than real life pro fighting obviously) but as far as the general public is concerned they're pretty much the pinnacle of fighting.
definitely a top 5, the animation, voice acting, music, pacing was all so good. the literal only complaint i have is them not adding the beginning scene with gon n kite from the manga
Regardless of whether HxH will ever be finished, or what Togashi's intentions were for leaving such loose ends consistently throughout the story, i think that we can all agree that HxH is more like the inner workings and ideas inside Togashi's head thank a manga series/ anime and this is what makes it so alluring and entertaining to consume. It also leaves room for endless discussion and conspiracy theories, which other more closed of series don't.

I actually like a lot of the non-canon world building from the 1999 anime. It definitely portrays some of the forgotten characters as being much more important than they ever actually were.

We actually don't know who his forfeits were against. They were just random because hisoka was busy doing whatever hisoka does. 3 of his hits were by Kastro though or something along those lines.
I think there will be more HxH anime. RU-vid took down the 1999 anime they had on for over a decade. They took it down right after new chapters were announced

As a writer I find the idea of getting bored of writing tournaments to be baffling. I man Togashi can do what is best for him, but I feel an entire series could be set in a place like Heaven’s Arena

hunterxhunter world seems pretty lax with laws. power means a lot. you could argue that even if chrollo is a criminal the country where heavens arena is in doesnt prosecute him they are fine with him being there. mafias also have a big influence and I would guess that heavens arena is run by a crime syndicate so they keep the arena open to all fighters to keep it interesting. there are multiple easy explanations why two criminals like hisoka and chrollo can participate.
the fact that zushi became a floor master should explain the difference in power level. i feel like chrollo and hisoka becam floor master just to fight each other
I just want to know who is floor master that sits on the top floor I am also curious on why Hisoka decided to never participate in the battle olympia despite him wanting to challenge strong opponents.
I think togashi likes ambiguity because I also like it, because personally I hate endings, I have dropped many shows without ever watching the last episode even the shows I was heavily invested in It's what I prefer and this makes hxh much much more entertaining than any other show I've watched
