@@vendangerthis is what I came here to comment! Crazy that other people recognized it. There were def some other mistakes in that book with legendaries/mythicals. I must’ve read that when I was 8, crazy what sticks.
@@ScaryShadow818 yeah it also had spiritomb and rotom listed as legendary from what i remember, though those two make a lot more sense than fuckin delibird
Regulation H is either going to be the most varied meta ever or the most centralizing meta ever. There will be no inbetween. And frankly, I'm all here for it. Especially since absolutely insane Pokemon such as Flutter Mane, Urshifu, and Raging Bolt won't be present in this format which I'm sure for some people might be a breath of fresh air.
They realized we didn't get a format where non legendaries from all regions could shine and finally gave it to us. I'm personally excited to try and use skeledirge again, although as you said palafin will be an obstacle
I think fighting types / coverage might just be mandatory. Incineroar, Gambit, Ursaluna-bm, between those three probably dominating, and a lot of the flying types used for fighting were legendaries + Flutter being gone.
I can see Hariyama being strong as a utility mon here. Having fake out, wide guard, and knock off is nice, and can hit hard enough with Guts that an intimidate from Incineroar means basically nothing.
i think another fairy type will have to replace flutter soon because with that gone, dragon psuedos are gonna be very popular like hydreigon as freezai said
I love my paradox boys, but this is shaping up to be a pretty cool format like back in the early days. Especially with all the cool toys we got in the DLC that were pre-power crept by Flutter Mane and Gang.
don't forget Baxcalibur, he was really good during reg A and now it has scale shot, also talonflame ain't coming back, it'll still be niche sadly enough, whimsicott will always rule as a tailwind user
I wouldn't be surprised if I end up wrong on this, but I feel Milotic might have a shot to be decent. With Incineroar most likely being on a majority of teams and all the best electric types being banned, Milotic might have a legit decent standing. Competitive boosted Scalds for offensive presence, Icy Wind for speed control, Life Dew for support, Haze for Dondozo cores, and Coil+Hypnosis for those who likes to watch the world burn. All while having a decent speed for a defensive mon. Of course, Rillaboom is a massive threat, but it providing passive healing via Grassy Terrain could also be an asset to Milotic.
Don't forget Garganacl was also pretty strong back then, although we can be sure how annoying Palafin and Dondozo are gonna be to deal with, Amoonguss will also be absolutely back!
Check serebii (where he got the info) for specific pokemon if you don't know whats a legendary (delibird can trip you up), but every legendary, mythical, paradox, and battle bond greninja are on the banned list. Mythicals and battle bond greninja have always been banned to clarify.
Tell me you only play showdown and none of the Pokémon games without telling me you only play showdown and none of the Pokémon games. Freezai: “Is Delibird a legendary?”
Palafin -) hi guys, long time no see! Basculegion -) ayo dawg wsp Incinaroar: why my enemies leaving? Dondozo + Tatsugiri: yo wsp *avoids Rillaboom* Arcanine: ayo homies wsp Meowscarada: hehe *excited furry noises* Gholdengo: Time to haunt WolfeyVGC ^^ Kingambit: urshifu is gone :o Tyranitar - Lycanroc: rock spam + chips bouta make all them salty ^^ Maushold: ok family we're going to go kill some people
Screens bulk up ape was overlooked even in the first few series imo, whimsicott HO might be meta defining alongside dozo, and we'll have to deal with more smeargle gimmicks more now that the premiere multi hit guy is gone.
If Dondozo comes back, then we'll see Murkrow again lmao. I'm going to guess that Psyspam Indeedee/Armarouge/Hatterene will make a comeback together with Trick Room Torkoal and Ursaluna.
Super Bulky Vaporeon with helping hand, haze, scald, and protect might be good cause it can soak up hits from both Palafin, Dondozo, and Ursaluna Blood Moon
for once i'm a big fan of something tpc did, reg h should be really fun and there's a lot of cool mons that i'm expecting to be meta like gyarados and rockanine. all the weathers should be viable, there's torkoal+lilligant/trick room for sun, pelli+archaludon+basculegion for rain, bax+ninetails for snow and ttar+excadrill is pretty cracked. the only real downsides to the format are incin and rilla still being here in a way lower power level, and both ursaluna forms are gonna be number 1 and 2 in the format. i think bloodmoon, torkoal, incin, rilla, gyara and farigiraf is probably the team to beat
@@wyattstout342malamar inkay and the clobboctopus evo get it, though all the mons are faster than dozo so they can’t flip its stats on the turn it uses it
@@june9914 +2 dondozo outspeeds malamar, which is the only option for topsy-turvy in current VGC besides inkay. you could, however, run a choice scarf malamar just to counter dondozo. which would be stupid... ...ly fun, that is
This new regulation means that even zamazenta and terapagos are banned, which might not seem as bad as losing pokemon like miraidon or flutter mane, but both zamazenta and terapagos won a tournament this year. Losing legendaries and paradox mons means that a lot of strategies are gone.
annihilape is nasty with bulky and Defiant. and i know Blaziken is not that good but it hits the top 7 most used pokemon (on Pikalytics) for super effective damage with it stab moves and knock off. so i will use it
Huh, I thought the regulations just kept getting less restricted over the lifetime of a given set of games. Is this wildly unusual and unexpected as I think it is?
I've been itching to see a meta where Ninetails-A + Baxcalibur can actually shine...I know Incineroar simply existing makes that combo an uphill battle but a guy can dream
This is an interesting choice from TPC and i think i will like revisiting Reg A but with more non-legends/paradoxes, i also want to try Tyranitar Excadrill and Mausape, will probably play more cores but those 2 are in my mind
I used to run a rest talk defence boosting body press set on dondozo, but it gets hard walled by flutter mane since it’s immune to order up and body press. We’re so back
I didnt expect this at all but I am realy happy with it. Paldea vgc was realy fun until the legendarys were playable. I stopped playing vgc because there were so many meta defining and shitty to play against pokemon that were only available to people who paid for dlc, an older game or both.
Has this ever happened before? I don't think I've ever heard of a "no legendary" format AFTER a restricted format in any generation. As far as I am aware, restricted is usually the last format of a generation no?
To everyone saying Incineroar will take over: Remember that Tornadus and Urshifu are also gone, so Sand teams can actually exist again. Tyranitar and H-Arcanine are gonna be big.
Personally I'm unsure because palafin's playstyle is inherently predicable because they're always going to switch. Even in singles palafin isn't very good anymore, but OU does still have paradox pokemon so we'll have to see
@@justaperson8381 it's being discussed for a potential unban but if it drops it will probably be quite good, considering the cost of switching is a lot lower in Smogon singles + access to fairly fast flip turn.
