Like all of the playable characters of Three Houses/Three Hopes, he is nuanced like the others. He does put up a stuck-up demeanor, but he does have some redeemable qualities. Heck, his support with Ignatz in Three Houses is really sweet.

Lorenz haters have no taste

A fantastic character. He’s got a little bit of an ego, but tbh it’s kinda warranted on some level bc he’s actually competent. His striking characteristic is his sincerity and earnesty. I think he comes off as pompous and arrogant, but in actuality it’s just that he takes his responsibility and the social roles as a nobility very seriously. He seems to have a skewed and overly idealistic perspective of it, partially in part due to his father. But come what may, if Lorenz receives criticism or realises the way he does something isn’t working, he’s quick to change courses. Watch the supports carefully, most of the time when someone points out Lorenz is wrong, his initial reaction is to ‘rethink his perspective’ or to apologise. This level of earnesty and the ability to admit one’s own faults in pursuit of a greater goal is honestly inspiring, at least it is to me. The only time he gets prickly about it is when someone is challenging his conception of the nobility too strongly, but honestly if they have a good point then he’ll eventually come around. He’s also a good judge of character, able to compliment and critique a person comprehensively, which speaks to his valuing fact and fairness. Plus, Lorenz is completely sincere when he offers his aid. I’ve said it before, when 3Houses came out, but Lorenz is the type of guy who, once he decided to put his trust in you, will give his life to help you in any way he can. I think these supports here exemplify that trait of his even stronger. Also REALLY appreciate that it’s emphasising the fact that his behaviour in 3Houses off aggressively courting women is purely motivated by transactional, social obligation and not because he’s a casual flirt. He has high standards, to find a person who meets the precise social needs of his family, he’ll need to get to know as many people as he can, so he asks out as many people possible to a trial date/get an idea of their profile. He’s just playing the online dating game before it even existed. Of course, he didn’t respect, boundaries probably from forcing his “noble’s duty” and “responsibility to the house” schtick onto others, but I sincerely interpret his intentions as being sincere and pure. He’s socially standoffish probably because his interactions with people are filtered by the way he parses relationships in terms of social roles, but when you can see through that, you get an idealistic, sincere thinker who strives to be a fair and responsible leader. If he were a real person I’d want him as my best friend.

Lorens sucks. But thats exactly WHAT makes him such an interesting character. My favorite even.
