@@Xed_13 Naruto is one anime in which I got irritated and didn't watch a single filler episode, as every episode almost had the same talks and it was way too much extended, and even you watched Naruto 3 times not Naruto shipudden, Naruto is wayyyyyyyy more boring , I have my respect for you to watch naruto 3 times
The never endless discussion of dub vs sub. To be honest I enjoy more the sub than the dub and I find less reactions with sub but I would recommend to watch one episode in dub and another one in sub so you watch the version you want. I enjoyed both but sub really is my favorite
I want him to watch the sub just for the Todoroki epiosde and for S3 Ep23. Watching the later episode in sub breaks my heart in pieces eventhough I eatched it in dub first
@@milesprower6110 I heard someone compare the sub and dub "NOOOOOOO" something like this (not exact wording): The one in the sub sounded like he just watched his family die and could do nothing to stop it, and the one in the dub sounded like he was making a sandwich and ran out of mayonnaise. XD
Zira Vinova see the no moment and the attack names are generally better in sub but the dub makes some lines that aren’t like screamy like 5 times more badass so it’s a tossup for me
Glad to see that you are interested in this show. I hope you also watch the sub on your own time. "Japanese" All Might has a tendency to mix in random English words to his speech :D
Mha is a anime where I liked the dub too, and I even could have watched it in dub, but mha is also the one anime where I liked sub more than other animes, so I watched in sub
his voice actor has pretty good English (I found out not every Japanese can speak English well) but.. idk.. I cringe hard whenever he says something in English xD but it makes sense since he lived in the US for a while :D
@@Daesma999 😆 don't know if English is your native language but it's not mine, so while it IS a bit cringey, there's something very embarrassingly relatable about it imo ahaha
@Blade Vizor Nah Sub > Dub over 90% of the time Only reason some of my american friends dont watch sub, they too lazy to read and watch at the same time (People are lazy af these days)
Watching one ep in dub, and another in sub should help you? Pick which ever sounds better to you. Personally I prefer sub, as they change a lot in dub.
Fun little history behind the word Quirk. The more direct translation would be along the lines of individuality. When the earliest online translations were made Quirk was the word they chose and when the official VIZ translation didn't go with it there was some backlash and VIZ then made Quirk the official phrase.
Can't believe the last scene in this episode still makes me tear up... It's a simple but beautiful story, I hope you will enjoy it! You're already picking up on plot points that will be addressed way in the future haha
@Blade Vizor The whole argument of dub vs sub & PC vs Console is overall pretty dumb to compare, but not with some facts that may be minor but still are shown with importance to what people want in a device either in quality or viability. Like more people can afford to buy console because its a simple plug in a controller and turn on the game type of deal but with only stock performance of the console. The thing about PC's is that you can go the extra mile to perform beyond what a console can do at a reasonable price, if you're willing to learn the ins and outs of building a PC with good enough performance for your money. Same thing goes for the actors in sub and dub, yes anime is made in Japan but the seiyus are "generally" more willing to put forth more emotion and depth into acting to where the characters feel real. I'm not saying that the dub voice actors don't try to get into their roles at all, but for example if you were to compare Deku vs Muscular you can easily tell which character (and voice actor) was fighting for his life to save a soul. Then on the other side sometimes people just don't want to read while watching or they just are able to resonate with the show better in their native language. For me its Sub > Dub, but when the person typing this reply was younger, he used to not be able to read fast and so anime in dubs can be hilarious/and or great compared to the japanese sub. Yea that's really all, my favorite animes in Dub were FMA/FMA:B and Soul Eater, but I hope you don't think that when someone is trying to give out their opinion for an animation of sub or dub is automatically a elitist. We should be able to unite in discussion with are favorite anime and talk about what we like or dislike and figure out why.
I never understood why people say the argument that there’s more “emotion” in the sub. Unless you actually understand the language how can I understand what emotions there, making, all I hear is high or low pitch voices speaking gibberish? I don’t get any emotion out of it in my opinion.
Brandon Lyon I literally think the same exact thing, like if you don’t speak the language at all, you can’t really get a feel for it like a language you speak and can understand well. It’s fine if people watch sub and enjoy it, but saying that there’s more emotion and better acting in it doesn’t make much sense.
@@brandonlyon730 so you're saying that you can't understand someone emotions unless he's speaking a language you understand?? If you were to hear a German guy angry wouldn't you recognize what he's feeling? If you heard an Italian guy crying? Let me know how this work for you because for me it's bullshit what you said
The dub for this show is by no means bad but I do feel like there are many moments where it can't convey the proper emotions from the sub. At any rate I'd suggest to watch an episode of both before you settle on one.
@@krsi2105 Not to spoil anything: The scene in Episode one with child Izuku (For me the english dub completely breaks the immersion and emotion of the scene). The majority of S3 EP23 for both script changes and emotional power. And (though this is personal bias) I can't stand Uraraka's dub voice in any scene. There are a lot of moments besides that but none that come to mind immediately. Like I said the dub isn't awful but maybe just not as good imo.
@@xynthia8987 Fair enough. I agree that Season 3 Episode 23 has less emotion on the dub but I guess since I've watched the dub all the way through I was tired of hearing Deku crying over and over again and I didn't mind the lack of emotion lol.
I agree in season 3 there is a monument Which I think is way better conveyed in the sub Click for spoilers He uses 1000000% of his power to defeat muscular and in the sub he is very much in pain but In the dub he just has a big voice crack as he says Delaware Detroit smash He sounds so cool in the sub
Usually when you start watching the show , you really hate bakugo but he also goes through a lot of development along the way. He’s my favorite character now!
Dub is not bad, but i prefer the japanese voices. I even like the brazilian portuguese voices better than de english ones (im brazilian though, not that impartial)
@Leandro Ugiete me disseram que naquele trailer a voz da uraraka e da jirou tão trocadas, no filme msm vai ser destrocado. Parece que com o trailer de Broly rolou algo parecido
The Dub is reeeeally good, but not in line with sub, very close, but not yet. Just some scenes, they sound like they don't have emotions or screaming just for the sake of doing it
btw AJ, about the questions you made in the video, 1: only 70% of people have quirks, they say it in the beginning. 2: quirks are inhereited by their parents, it is even possible that the 2 quirks can combine and create a new one, you'll see some.
The main character has the nickname of "Deku" which I believe is a way of saying useless, the dub instead makes it a nickname from "DE"fenseless Izu"KU", one of the reasons I really prefer the sub over the dub but it's still fine
the dub literally explains how its made from the characters in his name. In the name Izuku Midoria. There is a scene in the dub of young Cacchan pointing at the toy bucket with Izuku Midoria on it saying, "You can read part of his name as Deku. Part of his name means useless." The dub does not explain it quite as well, since its a play on words in Japanese using characters(kanji?) instead of our letters. But they do explain it better than "DE"fenseless Izu"KU". Im not sure how well they handle saying that Deku is really similar to Dekiru(i think) which means "You can do it" or something close to that. Instead the redemption of the name might just be that Ochaco said its cute, and he decided to incorporate his shadow and accept the insult name as part of his character. I dont think the dubs mess translations up nearly as much as people imagine. But if you simply prefer the subs, thats cool. Have a preference. But the dubs didnt mess that up like you think they did
As someone who has watched the entire series both sub and dub (sub first) I much prefer the dub as I have English as my first language I the emotional moments hit much harder and the voice acting is much stronger. No shade on the sub but, that's just my opinion.
SUB is like 400% better... RIP. Well Ill still see this. The problem with the Dub and Sub is that they portray Dekus life and struggles differently. I personally resonate better with the sub.
They also changed the meaning of tomura’s conviction. In the dub he’s represented as childish while in the sub some of what he says makes sense Still love the dub tho
I'll totally vouch for the Dub for this show, I actually prefer it to the sub personally, having watched both. Nothing against folks who prefer the sub though!
I don’t think he has to worry about that because the majority of the comments can be disappointingly summarized as: “dub is good but sub is 100x better.”
I personally think that the sub has a much stronger emotional impact. The dub is serviceable. Bakugo's japanese voice is far far superior, but I'm happy you're reacting to the show anyways.
Miles Stewart just because someone watches anime subbed or dubbed does NOT mean they’re a weeb, do you even know what weeb means? Please exit this comment section.
Why don't you watch the episode in sub after ? Just to get a feel what it's like ^^ To be honest I will always reccomend sub for this show... like a lot of people say, it just has that much more emotion. But the dub is truly an amazing one for sure ! Have fun watching the series !~
Some people are very audio oriented, so having to read everything can be an additional challenge and take away enjoyment from the show. I prefer Sub, but let's just celebrate AJ reacting.
I love how you immediately made the comparison to x-men. My hero academia actually tells a really good narrative about a super human society. Cheers on the reacts!
I love the dub and you understanding the show better when it’s in dub is exactly why I love good dubbed anime; you’re in for a treat with this series, truly. Starting it right in time with the release of season 4 as well ! (October 12)
@@purplebeast8353 Yes, good point but although I am very used to reading subtitles I still like to enjoy watching it without having to look at the bottom of the screen
Not forcing, just saying my opinion. Japanese VAs are superior to me. Maybe it's because I don't like how the English dubbing adds that echoing kind of effect to try to make it sound like impactful sound, which really has an opposite effect in my opinion.
Because why waste your time having to split your attention between reading and watching what is actually happening when you can just watch and listen? This is coming from someone who watched the sub as it came out then later re-watched the dub.
dub haters are so fucking full of themselves they don't even know japanese, but say the voice actors speak well. And then they have the nerve to say the artists' original intent was to have their audience watch text on a screen instead of the actual art.
I just want to leave a comment saying that I love the dub and I'm really glad to see you watching it just to throw a pebble of balance towards this atrocious amount of dub-hate or over-glorification of the sub in the comment section, like geez, seriously. But I also want to say that I admire how critically perceptive you are in watching this and how clever a lot of the questions you ask are. "So society accepts and looks up to heroes? They don't try to control them?" "People are born with just one power? It's not possible to have multiple quirks?" "I wonder if All Might's smile is genuine or if he's just putting it on?" I can tell you're already taking a real interest in this show, its world and its characters. You're engaging with it, which is really encouraging. I'm glad to see you enjoying the show so much already and having seen this video, I'm likely to check out more of your channel. Nice reaction!
I've watched it both ways and sub is actually way better. They change too many lines in dub and it's pretty annoying. Some good lines in sub don't need changing, but it is what it is.
I’m so glad you’re watching the dub than sub. I just feel that the dub has far more raw emotion to it, and I feel way more feels from watching the dub than I do the sub. Enjoy the journey! You’ve got an awful lot of hype and the feels to come! Easily my most favourite anime ❤️
*When you want to watch all his reactions but your charging won’t let you-* But little does my charging knows that I will just watch it *WITH* the charger on- If everyone does this xD
The voice actors in the sub have more emotion and capture the feelings of the characters better. Plus the script isn't changed since it's the original.
The thing I love about this show is that the quirks are more realistic some have drawbacks and others are just weak or useless and some are just naturally powerful
I watched all of My Hero Academia subbed but also rewatched it again dubbed. Both are amazing! I’m actually impressed with the dubbed version. And of course subbed is great as always.
Most anime fans are more sub fans than dub fans. So, those ppl, including myself, have a connection with the Japanese sub voices, so hearing a different voice feels off. But hey, it's your choice.
You're really picking up on a lot of topics the show discusses- the celebrity nature of heroes, what it means to actually be a hero and not just a government-funded celebrity, the nature of quirks and what having one means. Keeping these worldbuilding details in mind will make the show that much better later, especially in season two. Sadly, Izuku's rivalry with Bakugo isn't a friendly one, as you'll continue to see.
Seriously think the Sub is way better that Dub, especially for Midoriya, you just feel way more emotion from Daiki Yamashita, and this goes for all the cast especially later on down the road. Hope you reconsider, but hey your choice is your choice
i don't like the english voice acting because for me the emotion of the voice is completely lost mainly the protagonist (including i'm from brazil and the mha movie will be dubbed here and i still prefer the original voice) plus all the choice it's yours so let's go for this because your enthusiasm for the work has won me over.
Fun fact all mights japanese va is the same as muhammad AVDOL Deku's japanese va is the same as (spoiler alert) narancia ghirga Himiko toga's japanese va is the same as iggy's Bakugou's japanese va is the same as ghiacchio's
Fun fact(s): - This first episode and the second episode are ONLY the first chapter of the manga. They actually had to divide the content of the manga into two episodes. - In the world of My Hero Aca somewhere around 80-90% of the world inherit their powers and they are manifested until the age of 5-6. Just like how that baby started to glow when it was only a few days old. If a kid does NOT develop some power(whatever that may be) until the age of 7 they are ostracized just like how Deku is being treated. - The dynamic between Deku and Bakugou changes a lot throughout the series. And even though this series has a lot of characters, it balances action sequences and character development quite well. Just my 2 cents.
welcome to MHA, cant wait for more of your reaction

You will like this show, but I recommend you to watch to it in Japanese, in the next episodes will be a lot of good screams that are better in original language
Honestly I'm glad this show is the one you chose to watch dubbed, imo it's one of the better dubs of recent time and the casting is for the most part amazinc
I personally prefer the sub more since i have watched both in sub and dub and the dub really changed some lines which ended up being a bit confusing and some characters don't match their voices but ill still support you
