I love the Ava shot so much, though! And I really like the way they went back to having two areas of three flying photos in a row. Dre's shot morphs in very well.
what they should do is get rid of the floating pictures since they obviously can't do them the same way anymore since they changed the program or whatever. The old ones were bomb though!
I wouldn't mind Babe's shot, except for what I can only interpret to be white sheets hanging behind her? I think it is to cover up Alexa's shot while they tried to merge the two, because I think the white builds from right to left. Either way, I don't get why they didn't just use the spinning feature they did on the old Babe here? Can't they duplicate it?
Well, to be fair, Livia and Ethan had the same background used as nuBabe, so it's not totally out of place. And I think the green is not ugly, just like the blue, they're trying to make the layers more colorful. The only thing I dislike about this opening are the opening pictures, especially when we see the Ryan/Annie shot in two different frames, side by side.
I'm into digital effects (its the field im going into) and I'm quite sure they hire an agency outside of ABC to do these openings. It probably costs less money to do it the way they do it now, but I totally agree, the flying thing made AMC stand out from the others!
is it possible that the first Josh, as he was probably only on a 13 week contract since winning that i wanna be a soap star show, wasn't on a long enough contract to be deemed important? i mean, Ava was on before Greenlee, but Greenlee was added first. i think it has something to do with making a committment, other than reupping every 13 weeks. I think they need to sign a formal one-to-two year contract or something (maybe half a year works too).
This is probably why Hannah is excluded. Her contract may only be the traditional re-up as we go thing. She was in the contract credits by the way, but I assume that counts all types of contracts. And yeah, OLTL is missing a TON of people! Is there anyone they are going to miss? Weren't some of those characters added to the show last year? Why, since there was an update this summer, wouldn't they add them?
they even stuck in a new picture of babe and krystal at the end when the book is flipping. wow, i think that speaks volumes... they must be angry with alexa's decision to leave. its like, "look how fast we can replace you!"
I've read Lamman was either recurring or short-term contract, and his myspace says it was a limited return, and in an interview he says the same. As for Scott, they probably had to make sure he'd be around after his initial 13 week period (which he wasn't). Haiduk is probably only on short-term contract. Problem is, the credits don't distinguish between the two.
Also I think they changed the style of the flying pictures to keep the characters closer to the screen. The old ones, though cooler and probably more expensive, were pretty far away.
Oh, and I also hate the way you can't see the edges on the floating pictures. And the way Krystal and Del freeze before they float away. It's like someone hit pause on their clip while making it. It's funny that Krystal's head squishes hehe. I like how close they are though to the screen. :)
The Babe is the only one that really feels out of place. Dre was done really well and Richie's was AS bad. I still remember the first time they added in Annie and I was like "wow, finally updated" since they still had Greg Madden listed.
yeah, but del/sydney/danielle looked bad. the characters had no connections and you couldn't see any of them floating before they actually hit the screen. plus, they never had four again :(.
A few other things lol: Does anyone know if any other contract characters missed getting into the opening thus far? I think there were two a while back that missed it, but I don't think anyone was ever sure they were contract, or maybe just short-term contract. And can anyone check to see if Hannah is listed in the contract credits? Thanks!
yeah, Dre was sweet. i thnk that's at least the mark of new beginnings. i really hated the few that had aidan going from normal to flying, that looked horrid. at least they took advantage of tad's two shots and made the second one fly away. very nicely done in my opinion. let's home the next version continues to try to remake the old ones with more double shots and more flying ones that look ok.
flying pics -ok why does tad have 2 pics if he is in the flying pics segment they didnt give krystal her 2nd pic back? and they just had to mess up del's pic why?
Does anyone know why Ava was only added now and not in the July version? Is it because Leven, though playing both, actually had not yet signed a contract to play Ava? Also, does anyone know if this is the first opening to start on a new cast member's first appearance? If so, maybe there's hope for faster updates! Is this the shortest amount of time a new character had been airing before being put into the opening (for Richie and Dre)?
You're right about Del. Sorry, I totally blanked. But it's still possible a different contract system could have been in place or something, especially with the Hannah thing. There's no reason for her not to be in it if the new Babe is. So do you know any of the stuff about OLTL I asked?
The whole month rule can't even be close to true. This one debuted on nuBabe's first day, lol. I think it has to do with long-term vs. short-term contract. Why bother putting short-term contract players in the shots?
I must say with the addition of Ava, Lily looks much too young. They should have "Starr"ed her shot, but I guess it's not too noticeable. And if Hannah is gonna stick around, they better add her soon! This reminds me of them not adding Lily in the July update. They better not leave someone out each time! I hope that she just wasn't available to film a shot, and will be put in soon... that or leave town only for the sake of my not going crazy that she's not in it, LOL.
I think this is one of the better SOAP themes these days, but all of them seem so washed out and generic, with their poses and stuff (trying too hard to be hip and modern)...all the shows are like that now. Days seems to be the only one that is kinda retro-ish and unique
