It's incredible how much practical experience you get to have within a bachelor at University of Waterloo! 6 internships? Here in Italy you'd be lucky if the university allows you to get an internship for your thesis, once you're done with your exams because "at university theoretical knowledge is the #1 priority"... Guess nobody wonders why we're so much behind the US when it comes to tech..

Hey Joma. I am really stuck in a dilemma at this stage of my life and I could use your help. I have a question for you. I am confused between SWE and DS, and I know your story about you switching fields. So advice from you would be invaluable. I wish to go into DS to be a ML engineer (Not Data Analyst) but I am not sure if I'd get there as a fresher. Also, I am not sure if I even do get there, I would enjoy it. Whereas SWE, I have coded a lot and I am sure I would like that field. I am choosing DS for now. My question is, would it be wise to do so and later on switch to SWE maybe in 1-3 years? Or should I just make the decision right now and stick to it? Edit: I'm 25 btw

Finance-Tech is the ideal job as I worked as an Entry-Level Cybersecurity Architect in finance. Now? I am incorporating my own Hedge Fund . As far as the game-theory concept? It's really not even game-theory but more so hedging between companies for the highest payout and job satisfaction - as I wish more engineers would embrace this strategy vs. blindly accepting an offer because of whom, how much, and title. Overall! Great experiences to have and cool beans to hear your story Joma....as always lol.

Can somebody take the time please to explain this system to me? I couldn't really understand it and follow where he worked and where he did not work. I'm not sure if the information I was looking for was mentioned implicitly not explicitly. English isn't my first language so I'm sry for any stupid question. My questions are : 1: He stopped using the waterloo job appliance service because he didn't wanna write essays? 2. How many times did he change jobs? 3. What does he mean by he started applying on his own? Like he just applied WITHOUT the university service and got the jobs? Why did he get the job now but not when he used the university platform?
