Mike, year after year, you set the standard for dedication to the hobby - all while being relatable. You just....keep....getting bigger and better! I am SO glad to have met you at AE a few years back. Keep doing what you do - long live the FTB!
Great to see an updated fish room tour. The first thing that stands out is that you're doing really well with growing plants compared to a year and a half ago. A tip for the Vienna guppies: float some hornwort or another, similar floating plant in the tank. Once the hornwort is thick enough, the fry will hide from the parents at the surface of the water where the cover is too dense for the larger fish. That's worked really well for me.
Thanks Mark! I have been adding a lot of hornwort to tanks lately and that has helped with a few different fish. THe vienna guppies are definately on the list for that.
I noticed that with some of your Goodeid species, you don't list the ESU. Maybe a oversight cause I'm sure you would have them. Also are your Black Bar Endlers N class? Just wondering. This is another great tour, guy, I enjoyed it.
I usually label the way that I purchase them. So if the seller didn't have an ESU, I don't put it down. I am sure some of them have only one ESU but I keep to the information that was passed to me by the seller. Not really sure if they are N class or not. Glad you enjoyed the tour.
I have some of the X. lyonsi from same collection point, ive found them to be fry eaters as well, i tried pilutting a bunch of moss and hornwort in the tank, and only had one fey after anout six months. So I started pulling pregnant females, and have done better. Its strange because my colonies of doadrio and eieseni dont seem to bother the fry, or their fry are just better at hiding?
