This was my favorite episode, because Search really showed that he is a true friend to our culture. Not a vulture. He is eloquent, articulate, and constantly shows love. He doesn't tell you how dope he is every five seconds like Fat Joe, ok that was not necessary, excuse my mood, fellas. But yo! NAS is the best of ALL TIME - you can see learned from his big brothers, Rakim, Kool G, and Slick Rick, and turned it into a young man on his journey into manhood. Thank you for this episode, because what it says is that the game is EVIL and sometimes one of the gate keepers has a heart. Search said that last part because HE KNEW the game was going to make him do that to NAS, and if he did, NAS may have been trapped in one of those prisoner contracts that MANY are STILL IN TODAY. Peace BRO! Keep up the dope podcasts!

@@703Tyme Hip-Hop was never meant to just be a genre, it was created to be a culture. Even though there have always been dark moments within it, it was honestly meant as a way to unite people rather than divide them. I know it may sound like I'm 'going too deep' or 'reaching' but it's the truth. I used to listen to all artists in hip-hop, but it's almost completely devoid of lyrical storytellers and genuine people that aren't just trying to sell a facade. Serch grew through and helped pioneer some of what makes hip-hop what it was at its best. And you're absolutely right with what you said about giving him his flowers. I feel like too many of us just hype what we have right now and forget about the foundation. That's why I try to do my part with my son when he's asked me what I think is the best-of-the-best in hip-hop. He loves Logic, Eminem, Drake, etc... and that's fine. However, I told him if he really wants to know who the 🐐 is, he needs to listen to NaS' entire discography and it'll be easy to answer. Then hip up the likes of Tribe, De La, Naughty, Boogie Down, LL, yada...yada...yada... I love everything having to do with the culture. My dad even had a friend that would tag up all of Manhattan with the dopest murals of artists and such. On occasion he used to let me tag along (no pun intended lol) and I'd just be in awe. I can't listen to it all like I used to. That's why I just try to make music for myself and try to inspire my son to do the same. Wow... sorry for the rant, but it's refreshing to find someone that's like-minded. Anyhow, God bless you and yours, fam. Enjoy your evening and have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Take *nothing* for granted my G!

This is a powerful example of how this were!!! It shows that some people truly have their heart in your best interest. It came from an unexpected source. I give you all the flowers. We never know what’s happening behind the scenes until it’s revealed.

@7:45. Jay never showed Nas his first tech. There's actually a video of Jungle unintentionally disproving that.

When he said he didn’t want to be the Jew that fucks Blk rappers over, he gained all my respect. I remember listening to 3rd Base as a kid in Elementary school. Love this platform.. wish some younger ppl could understand what struggle and things ppl went through for them to have the platform they have today.💯

Search is a credit to the handful of honest people that was left in that era. Regardless of race. Agreed, his place in Hiphop is solidified. A definite exception that’s rare.👍🏾

Search was like the White Biz Markie who was beloved all over NY. Search from Far Rockaway Queens and Biz Markie from Long Island NY were both all over the Five Boroughs sometime Dolo but they were both humble beloved and the life of the party where ever they stomped at. Both would be in the Latin Quarters hard body.

Yo! Great interview I’m from that era and Search was a good dude, in terms of the Latin Quarters we were family Search, myself, Chris Lighty ( Rest in Power), Red Alert, my man Paradise ( From the X-Clan) Sup and Casanova Rud, Milk and Giz Etc,etc… he was Solid every spot he mentioned I was right there wit’em, unfortunately when they shut the spot down your boy went up north never to see’em again only after 3rd Base came out and he elevated his game. One love to my guy Search…. Salute👊🏾💪🏾
