Nice! I had no idea festool made a new edge guide for the 1010. $69usd is a very fair price. And yeah, I'd love to see that clear plastic shroud in the US; I'd get a lot of use out of that.
I have the light module for the 1010 and I think that is why they have the clear plastic shroud, as you can't use the light module with the chip deflector. Kind of odd, since Festool usually thinks of things like that. The other niggle I have is that the new edge guide didn't fit snugly in the systainer.
So I have the 700 and that comes with its own edge guide (or maybe i bought it cant remember which. I also just bought the 1010 req f+ plus mostly for it track capabilities and yes festools track adapter works on Makita tracks. My question is, do I really need the new edge guide for my 1010 which also works on the 700? Granted the new edge adapter is much nicer than the one that comes with the 700.
That’s great that you have both - how do you like the 700? I’d wait until you have the need to use an edge guide and then pick this one up. While I don’t own the 700, if I did and needed to do something that would need an edge guide I’d probably just use the 1010 and this edge guide. The cross-compatibility is nice, but I can’t see too many folks switching between the two configurations although I’m happy to be wrong in that regard.
This one is for the OF 1010, MFK 700 and a few older routers of that size. There’s a different edge guide for the OF 1400, which is pretty good and has a great dust extraction hood although it is a good amount more money than this one.
