I am an older woman-don't bother how old🥰. I fell in love with the first-generation 4-Runner. This new one with the factory-installed snorkel exhaust pipe looks fantastic. I would love to see the top Limited model. Many women love the 4Runner. It is not necessary for off-track adventures, but it is the perfect size and convenience for just daily driving. And it is reliable, Made in Japan Toyota.
That feature alone has me tilted towards the 4Runner over the new Land Cruiser. (& I own a 100 series 05 LC I bought new, and now a '15 LX570. I HATE that they did away with the tailgate in the new LCs. 😢😢. (& I hate they did away with the third row side vents when moving from the 100 series to the 200 series). This rear window rolling down helps to slightly remedy the loss of those two features. TOYOTA: BRING BACK THE TAILGATE!!!! These are adventure/family vehicles, and when the back cargo is full of gear, you need a tailgate to sit, work, and get up to place/move your gear on the roof rack!!!!
Toyota decided to do the shotgun approach with a million vids at the same time. I appreciate the fact based reviews over some people just walking around the vehicle and talking about it.
@andreaspencer9813 Thank you also, I've been watching Zack's channel for many years now and he's been always awesome. Since you joined with your husband, it's just even more wonderful and as a proud Canadian I really hope you guys get more subscribers 😊
If it came with a V6, I'd buy one as soon as they come out. I bought a 2024 just for that V6. I still have a 2005 4-Runner SR5 I bought new with 280k on the clock, and the reliability of these are top notch. I just wish they came with the V6.
Wow I feel like Toyota really listened to its customer basis. Not 100% sure about the front end, but I felt like that about gen5 too and now I love it. Great car. Great review too.
I bought my 2005 4Runner new and today am still driving it daily. It rides great, runs great, and looks great. Inside and out. No major repairs over the years, just the standard maintenance plus brakes and battery. Been a great car.
What a beautiful car and a true 4x4 beast. I'm stunned by Toyota recent design language... So aggressive and a huge improvement over their usual classical boring designs
Excellent review. As a original owner my 2008 4Runner (that I bought new for 28K) I like the new design, but I fear that corporate "Greedflation", dealer markups, limited trims and availability will make it "unobtainium" for most buyers.
Just placed a deposit on a 2024 4Runner Off Road Prem. thats still in transit. This trim is still popular and people are still buying and not waiting for the 2025. Can't wait for mine to be delivered.
man, Toyota is killing it with their new offerings. The Tundra, Sequoia, Prius, Tacoma, Land Cruiser, and now this 4Runner. I was worried about what the 4Runner would become when the Land Cruiser was revealed as smaller than last gen. I'm so glad they kept the 4Runner as a BoF capable beast. The new Trail Hunter trim looks so good. I WANT ONE!
Still have our 5th gen. Not overly happy with the new styling. Seems they just added bumps, strange body lines on the doors and bulbus black fender flares to make it look edgy and rugged. I like the interior and drivetrain. Not afraid of hybrids this will be our 4th one. May go with the Land Cruiser as it has more traditional styling and still has most of the same features.
Nice to see that Toyota invited some Canadian Automotive Journalists to the event. Thank you for focusing on the Limited and talking about the third row and space. It appears that the 2025 will offer about the same amount of room as the outgoing version. I am a loyal Toyota fan but if one is looking for a dependable Japanese based 7 seater, the Honda Black Edition appears to be a winner. I was holding off on the purchase of a 7 seater until Toyota completed the 6th gen release but the Honda Pilot gets my Canuck Vote. Cheers and enjoy the Cali sun….
I love this aqua blue color! I wish car manufactures had more than white, black, dark blue, silver (light and dark), and maroon colored cars and trucks.
I LOVE THIS CAR COMPANY AND I HAVE OWNED A CAMRY IN 1985. WHAT I FIND ODD ARE THE CAR MODELS I'VE NEVER SEEN HERE IN NORTH AMERICA. I WATCH CAMPING IN JAPAN AND THOSE MODELS OF TOYOTAS THERE ARE SO AMAZING. WHY ON EARTH AREN'T THOSE MODELS HERE!!
New 4Runner looks so nice! Only worry is the turbo and rust issues on Toyota body on frame vehicles. This was only reason I got rid of my gx460 and gx470’s in the past. I would inspect the undercarriage before I buy this vehicle. If you live in the rust belt, this is especially important. Hopefully Toyota improved rust protection or made good design choices to minimize rust points.
Inevitable. Rust. Brought the death (for me) to my otherwise bulletproof 100 series LC.😢. but learned from it: when new vehicle: undercoat every square inch (including inside box frame) with CRC Heavy Duty Marine Corrosion Inhibitor spray. Fantastic product. Re-apply as needed.
My F150 is close to 5000 lbs and has a twin turbo V6. I've put over 160,000 kms on it with no issues. I think the new technologies are better than we give them credit for.
Love the styling of the TRD Pro and Trailhunter. I like the electric running boards on the Limited but not a fan of that chrome grille of the Limited. The addition of the IForce Hybrid option is nice given the gas mileage of previous generations was not great. Definitely a contender to replace my current 17 Highlander but not sure I want to go back to a body on frame vehicle. Will definitely check one out when the arrive at the dealerships later this year! Great review as always!
Watched again, you both did such a great job of packing in info that I missed the first time that the Platinum has the i force max with the tow package. So that will make it tough to decide between it and the Land Cruise looking forward to your driving impressions of the Land Cruiser and the 4 RUNNER. CHEERS!
THANK GOD for the power liftgate. I don't know what the hell Toyota was thinking on previous model 4 runners not including that feature stock from the get go. Considering how expensive these trucks are in limited trim. Nobody should have to purchase a roughly $700 after market power liftgate when that should be standard for the price. I'm glad they finally listened.
I came searching for Zack’s view on these vehicles…not disappointed. It think the TRD pro or the Trailblazer are on my radar for next Ski Truck. Great review you guys👍🏻😎
I'll keep my 2021 thanks....they couldnt keep it simple- more electronics, turbo charger and hybrid battery=more problems. How long exaclty do you think a 2.4L gas turbo charged engine is going to last now in a 4runner?
It should be titled current or future 4Runner. My guess the future 4Runner will be extremely hard to get well into the 2025 calendar year. With most dealers charging above sticker. With that being said a current 4Runner makes better financial sense.
The old ‘24 model had the V6 where you could supercharge it for enormous power. Seems the hybrid in the ‘25 is similarly powerful. Roll down back window is great for dogs and cooling off the cabin. Coil sprung 4 link has to ride well and interior is first rate. Good daily driver with more room, not too small or too big, with power, good brakes, updated smartly and it’s reliable.
Awesome review - you guys are detailed, informative and keep it flowing. Ty for sharing! Can’t wait to see one at my local dealership (maybe I will trade up 😉)!
Lol, exactly. The old expression definitely applies: if you have to ask...😊 I'm surprised the power lift gate is not standard for a utility vehicle of this size and price. It's standard on many cheaper vehicles.
Awesome, great would like the hybrid max with the better tow numbers. I think that is available on the trailhunter model, but the payload numbers aren't great. Also like the limited but it doesn't come with the hybrid. Maybe the TRD off-road hybrid will be the one or maybe the land cruiser. There are so many choices now😊
I am wondering what is the towing capacity - I assume it should be on par with the new Tacoma and Land Cruiser - around 6,000 lbs? Also, does the new 4Runner have more room at the back seats than Tacoma? Tacoma’s rear seats are really tight. And it would be interesting to compare this one to the new Land Cruiser
What is this obsession with the v6? This 4 cylinder is more powerful and can tow more. You're gaining hp, and have more fuel economy while you're at it.
@@Venom3303the new turbo 4 will never be as reliable as the old V6. Reliability is more important than power. The 4Runner is now completely ruined. I wouldn’t touch a ‘25 with a ten foot pole. So happy I got my ‘24 before it was too late.
As an owner of 4Runners for the past 21 years (current is a paid off '15 TRD Pro) the new looks/design is kind of disappointing. Looks way too much like a Taco. Toyota pressed the easy button -- IMO.
Yes!!! I would have thought you worked for Toyota with the perfect delivery of details across all trim levels and fluidity! Teleprompters?? Also Zack, how tell are you??? When you got in the back seat and showed your head clearance, it would be great to know how tall you are.
I'm driving my 2nd 4Runner (2016 model) and was thinking of buying the 2025 but this is my question.....Is there going to be annual subscription's on the components like the 2025 Camry? If so I may look elsewhere for my next SUV.
