Looks fit for purpose, awesome! Would love a more thorough walkthrough, including insulation, windows, etc, as we’re planning on a lot of high altitude winter adventures. Thanks guys!
id take this over a flat in any large us city any day of the week and if you build it yourself, woth some smart choices (used truck, just 1 inverter, half of the batterys, you dont need more...) its more like 150- 250k at most.
Wow, I loved it All, except I would have a Laveo dry flush toilet fitted to it instead of cassette. All of that back country swaying and sloshing around. I don't know how a cassette would like that! They did an excellent job on perimeter storage and choosing those awesome awning windows. I don't normally think I'd own one of those monsters. If I would, that one would be on the short list!
Thank you for another great video. I was hoping STO was going to announce another option to their class B lineup and more specifically another Ford Transit option, call it the Big Foot Mode 🙂. So to say that I am disappointed is an understatement. At $400K (plus tax and license) my wife and I would be priced out, but congrats to the few people who can afford it.
Yeah, beautiful rig for sure but I think they make these for rich trust fund kids, independently wealthy people and lottery winners. 😅 Not meant for us 99% working folks.😜
Great job Joe. We are waiting for our new F550 to be built by Ford, and then it will get a similar treatment. Love Liquid Spring. We will meetup with you guys next summer for sure.
This rig looks great with functionality like the Earthroamer but is not ridiculously overpriced like the Earthroamer. Yes please do a more in-depth review of the GXV Hilt...
Dear, Santa. I'll take one, but with excellent cb radio station. Also, instead of pass though storage in the back. One side pop out kitchen, bar b q. Sink the works. Other side, pop out generator and gas storage. So that way, if you break down in extreme environments. You can still make power. Needs two spare tires. Thank you. Much love and respect my fellow Humans 💚 Fromboldt reporting ☕🌄🦢 ( My favorite part - It's DODGE 🐸 🤜💥🤛. )
Yes more details definitely Loved the over cab bed. Windows were amazing Surprised there was no drop down table outside and refrigerator closer to door
400K is expensive but was expecting a higher price point. The electrical system can easily be 100K by itself for long warrantied individual products. Solid rig.
The dinette, with the wrap-around windows, is a big plus compared to truck-based EarthRoamer (ER). That is a very inviting space, would make a fantastic work area, and makes the box feel more airy. To get that with an ER, you have to step up to the commercial HD platform, which is just too big and expensive. I will say the ER has much better, luxe finishes. It also seems as if they have more storage. They are also known quantity so that helps with resale. I love the Earthroamers, and they do quality work, but an LTI starts at $730,000 these days and a preroamed ones starts above $400,000. The Hilt starts at $446,322 new. Given the dinette design and the cost savings, I could see going with the Hilt.
Min 1:24. Was about to say there's a creeper in the back watching you and it's not Kate. 🤣Too bad they don't let yall take it for a week or weekend without a chaperone. lol Amazing rig! Thanks for the tour.
@@Weretherussos Awesome! Thank you Storyteller! Nice guy and everything but I hope without the chaperone? 🤞😝 Who needs him standing over yall while sleepin. hehe j/k✌
Great to have quick walk thru - thanks (nothing on STO site yet). What does it weigh - wet? dry? Any word on support for dual-receiver moto carrier (rear and/or front)? Any footage of the outside storage boxes (ie, with doors open)? Any word on their policy toward customizations (or are they "any color you want, as long as it's black")? Lastly, when you're driving on the rutted road, it looks like there is significant camper sway (despite the liquid springs) - did it "feel" like it was going to tip over? Any sense of its max rollover degrees (understanding lot os factors could change that number)? Is this a rig you'd take through Dedeckedera Canyon from Eureka Dunes to Saline Valley in DVNP?
I've been a big fan of EarthRoamer for a long time but one of the problems of had with them is their interior layout.... I love the layout of this vehicle and if they're willing to customize a few things that the customers might want this is going to be a serious competitor to EarthRoamer.
@@Weretherussos The rear dinette with big windows on three sides is a nicer layout... it just makes for a nicer, sunnier, airier, more pleasant place to spend time. It is a much better layout to optimize having the natural world as open, accessible, and visible as possible. Side dinettes with the rear of the camper used for baths and storage feel closed in and shut off. Also, the cabinet work is nice and reasonably understated (although the lighting at the floor is too much for me), and with the amount of natural light and the color scheme for the camper reviewed here, the interior just seemed lighter and more natural and fitting with being out in the natural world, and not so dark and McMansion lavish.
Well when I hit the jp..I know what home I am buying...this will do it..roomy, smart staged essentials and enough power...the truck is structurally sound, good power output as well as great solar and that dual alternator has me sold. I do not need dual wheel in the back...I relish the spare....the water grey water tank sufficient and love the 2 water faucets...drinking water and grey... External storage a must! Lockable and alarmable.... diesel tank... I wonder how much destruction the composite can take? I mean desert heat, extreme cold, pelts from hail..? Maybe want to get a In - A- Snap - Awning, for that little inconvenience weather surprise. Great video.
Only $400,00? In my opinion that's a steal. Storeyteller Overland should run a one day special where if you buy the GXV Hilt at full price you get the Classic MODE van at half price.
Beautiful truck. There's no way I would be able to go through that pass through door. It's such a good feature to add to these rigs, not having to go outside to drive away. Any plans on making that bigger?
EarthRoamer is the way to go if you're going to go into this territory. Yes this is cheaper but it shows and if you're going to blow half a million on an RV you can probably spend more if something like this is what you want.
Pretty neat but it’s too big, at least for me. A regular cab would suit me better. The 5500 is nice and the liquid springs. We have 2 5500 Dodges at work with liquid springs and have had zero problems. Not sure about that price 😂 that cost more then my ambulance. The windows, cassette toilet and capacities is nice. I will admire from afar because you ain’t buying that on a public safety paycheck 😉
I knew that STO and GXV were going to team-up and this first effort looks awesome! This is def. a vehicle i'd buy if I had the cash. Its a solid off-road beast...
125 gallons of fresh water, wow! I thought our 55 gallon tank is large. It isn't exactly the kind of vehicle you would pull in to a KOA. I like it but I think I would be self conscious of overnighting in places where it's obviously overkill such as rest areas. Thanks for the tour.
I prefer the Ford chassis, but this is a nice more affordable alternative to EarthRoamer. That said, I do wish someone would design a more moderate off-road RV that doesn't go quite so far overboard, for around $250k. I love this type of RV, but the truth is I'm not likely to utilize this level of capability. Personally, I'd rather have something a bit less capable, perhaps built on a 350/3500 chassis, but with similar electronics and interior features.
I am with you on that. Should be possible to make something decent on the F350 Super Cab and sell it for under $300,000. If the guys in Elkhart can make a 40' Class A with 4 slide outs piece of junk for under $200,000 it should be possible to make a somewhat decent rig for the masses. Seems like everyone is shooting for the super rigs instead of something more moderate.
@@Weretherussos I was thinking more along the lines of something purpose built (similar to this), but just a bit less 'monster truck'. But I take your point, you can certainly get a nice F350 and a top tier camper for less than $150k.
Amazing vehicle. I’ve been researching every Class B overlander available. This STO Hilt just got added to my list, definitely a step up and more capable.
Great vlog, yes please a more detailed walkthru, also focus on the roof, electrical setup, and how water and waste are moved to from rv. Lastly, driving impressions on the road and items such as fill ups, service stops, how tire would be replaced, height..& whew!😊
did I miss the cooker? with the wall ventilator in the bathroom in mind, I wonder whether the company can do custom jobs, such as fitting a slip cooker extractor over the cooker, with a wall outlet of the same kind as the one in the bathroom?
Awesome build, please show more. Tell me about the box construction, that’s critical. Also all the electrical components please. Oh and please ask STO to offer the Separett Tiny toilet option. That cassette toilet isn’t making me a happy camper!
Great quick review, Joe. Thank you. Yes, please do an in depth review as soon a you can. Also, reach out to the Supertramp folks as they have the new Megatron that will be a competitor to this and the Earthroamer. We've always enjoyed your review style and value your opinion, so please put in a request to get eyes on the Supertramp Megatron. Thanks for considering!

Such a neat rig and great video on it! After building out a van and a previous owner of a class A, I’m curious how comfortable the interior habitat is, what temps were you camping at in it, did it stay cool / warm?! Also is the u-shaped dinette a cozy lounge space or did it get uncomfortable?!
not sure if the suspension is working properly as it swings left and right going through the rough road. It seems like it could flip over easily with a little bit of wind and wrong swing timing on a steeper road.
First impressions are ok, I understand its just coming out. As far as the truck being unique it looks a lot like Earth Roamer and Earth Cruiser. Aesthetically I think the GXV Hilt is better than the Earth Cruiser Terranova. However Earth roamer's LTI is a lot nicer overall. The cost is very competitive being a earth roamer is 850k. The Earth Cruiser is about 350k. Granted the price of the GXV Hilt will likely change prior to release, it is a nice median price for folks who want that body style of camper. If you do a video on the GXV could you do a video on the Earth Roamer LTI; Earth Cruiser Terranova. Liked the video; look forward to more down the road.
Watching it drive over a few minor ruts, looked like the ride was way too soft. Almost scary. In my opinion it needs leaf springs to stop the side to side rocking.
I am still hoping someone will make something like this in a smaller format on the F350 or Ram 3500 chassis. I really don't want to deal with trying to find tires for these beasts at my local Discount Tire store. Still, it looks like a more practical version of the EarthRoamer LTi and for a lot less money. Just not what I was hoping for. The TruckHouse BCR may be a better option for me, but who knows when you will be able to get one of them either.
FINALLY!! Pass thru to the cab! And, I only have to spend $400k to get it Actually i was shocked when you stated the price, i was thinking it b pushing $1.1 mil. This is a rig that would get me wherever I want to go & won't make me vulnerable getting to & from the cab to camper in sketchy areas or, what I'm always afraid of, emergencies when your locked inside the camper. What's the bumper to bumper length?
@@Weretherussos I was comparing it to my old crew cab dually that's 24' & it seemed longer. My concern is that it's too long for some mountain roads, road could b a stretch. I suppose the weight might b an issue b4 the length. Sure would b comfy after a hard day of play!! I could easily live in it comfortably along with 2 Rotties. Filling a diesel tank would not b fun
