Of course, but more than one thing can be true: transparency into their build process with passionate customers, sailors, and creators is smart and strategic on many levels. I don’t think they’re trying to hide it.

As a retired engineer and keen sailor I’m fascinated with the build and assembly process, as well as your reasoning behind each decision. I’m loving your videos. From my perspective you cannot put too much boat building detail in these videos. RR2 is looking great! I have surprised myself by how much I am enjoying the bits where you share what your life in Vietnam is like. Because of your videos my wife and I are looking at joining a tour of Vietnam and Cambodia in November.

Differing thicknesses in foam enhance bending stiffness, not so much physical strength, increasing thickness will add substantial stiffness whilst minimising weight as core is of minimal weight. Mitre or bevel on foam enhances bond of laminate to existing surrounding solid laminates and reduces air voids in laminates at this junction. Great video, great to see the tooling and resultant modules. Cheers Guys.

Interesting comment from Nick, this is the way to build a boat. Close, they are using the best known techniques for building composite structures of reasonable cost. Why would I know? I worked at Boeing in composite manufacturing. Boeing is not cost sensitive. They are weight sensitive. But as a research person, it was my job to know many other focus points. Simply, the SeaWnd people know how to build a balance of low weight and reasonable cost. The computer design gives lowest reasonable weight given the cost constraints. Nice job SeaWind.

I currently watch another couple building their own Cat and then watch you all. The impressive feature is the labor involved. Many perhaps just don't understand that. Even boat repairs such as Parlay Revival and others is a dedication of love BUT the effort to complete the task mindboggling ................................. enjoy

Very interesting to see the parts being made ready for the construction. The cut lines in the foam for drawing the resin through is genius. It's incredible seeing the thought process for placement of jacklines and preventer lines. I'm so used to seeing completed boats where these decisions were made long ago that it never even crossed my mind how much thought would go into their placements. Refits usually don't come across the placement issue other than to shift lines a few cm over from the original position.

Super interesting. Back 40 years ago, at various fiberglass shops we talked about the pros and cons of different boat building methods. Infusion was brand new. Going moldless was a big topic then, because of mold cost. This was before CNC machining was popular.

Engineering of these boats makes so much more sense than what I have seen on other boats brands. I am a nerd/geek, so I am looking at everything really closely. Always fabulous.... but as someone who has fallen overboard and just about died (I didn't just for reference) may I suggest doing the best you can to get the jack lines as far inboard and central as possible. You don't want to ever drag in the water.... you should be able to construct a system whereby if you fall you can NOT go over board or if you do it is just your legs. Trust me.... watching your boat sail away without you is no fun.
