The all new Hardy Marksman Z is the killer new flagship rod for the legendary Hardy lineup. This rod is much faster and boasts more power than the previous Zane Pro.
The Marksman Z comes in 6-12 weight 4 piece options. Then for 1 piece, 8-12 weight. This rod features many of the same characteristics to the incredible Zane Pro, like the titanium ceracoil, recoil, and snake guides, but with added power and a faster blank. This really helps in windy situations, or when you're throwing large flies. But, with that added speed and power, the rod is still delicate enough out near the tip to provide a nice soft approach, lessening the chances of spooking fish with a hard presentation.

@Tailwaterflyshop , you guys have REALLY been delivering lately. I've been waiting for somebody, ANYBODY to do a review on this rod assuming everyone who is a Hardy dealer would be reviewing it, not so much. Figured you guys would be out in front of it. Suspicions confirmed - i assumed they'd go back toward the Proaxis "speed" as they've softened the Zephrus and then again the Zane Pro since then. I love my Zane Pro 8WT and contrary to everything i've seen and read, feel it's an absolute cannon. Water loading 40-60ft of Infinity salt or Flats Pro and rocketing it back out to 90-105ft on a pick up is as easy to me as an NRX. That being said, i want the Marksman Z in 9 and am very happy to hear that they re-tuned the taper on their saltwater rods. Very excited about this rod, genuinely feels like its time Howard Croston, Andy Mill & Hardy in general get their due flowers for the saltwater rods (specifically Tarpon weights) that they've been building the last 10 years or so. This rod finally feels like THE rod people will be willing to overlook the "Made in Korea" badge for. Thanks for the review.

After watching your review I was curious about the 7wt. I cast one this afternoon with an older version of Rio Bonefish Quickshooter (this is a bit lighter than the SlickCast version). With very little effort, I was able to make long and accurate casts. I did cast the 8wt the other day with a Cortland saltwater line, but liked the 7wt more. As a wading bonefish rod, this would make an excellent choice.

One day ill spend 1k on a rod 😆 my max is under 700 bucks .. bit silly with the cost but that's them along with others, sure people will still buy 1k rods I just think that keeping it under 800 maybe will be more fair

The Zane Pro at the price they're going for is bonkers. I own 3 rods I bought on closeout, an 890-4 Sage ONE, an 8WT Zane PRO, And a 12WT one piece Proaxis X, bought them for $1300 combined. Theres always that option for people.

@@tailwaterflyshop I "liked" Hardy for years, but stuck to their "fishing tools" I.E. 11+12WT's rather than their "casting tools", big miss. I bought a Zane Pro on closeout and man, that rod is criminally ABSURDLY underrated. Have everything from Meridian's to NRX's and everything in between. What kept me from the Hardy's was the cork shape/quality and the word on the street that the Zane Pro was "soft". Soft in deflection maybe, but my very.first.cast. with Flats pro was about 95-100 ft. It's a cannon when allowed to load deep a la the Scott Sector. Really glad I didn't pass on these like I did the Zephrus, still kicking myself in the ass for that move...oh, and they slimmed up the cork grips and went to quarter inch rings. Didn't even know that, big win.
