When you said it doesn’t have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto I was a bit surprised, even an S-Presso has that these days , they really need to update their infotainment system.
its all about tarket market! there's this almost inherent attitude with these clowns that they know whats good for a specific market. if they bothered to do a bit of research they would know where the consumer is in terms of tech. how many times we buy their cars only to throw their stone-age sterios out and spend even more on an all-inclusive Navigation car system. compare what they send here vs what they send to indonesia, thailand , Europe n US.
No android auto or Apple carplay. That's a big problem for allot of people. I think Honda really need to up their tech game and smartphone intergration
Honda has hybrid tech in their brand, and has for a while. This BR-V would be a really hot contender for larger families if it had some hybrid electric power to up the torque a bit, and make it capable even with a larger family with luggage. Missed opportunity. Loving the practicality. I've always preferred non-SUV alternatives for larger families.
Waiting for you to review the new very over priced Nissan qashqai’s. South Africa are charging R100k (on average) more than the Australians and took out some of the features.
I drove the HR V with the same engine/transmission combo up here in Joburg and even with 2 people this car was a slug. It struggled on the highway and well it simply wasn't a good experience at all. Sadly it dropped off my buyers list as I like the rest of the car.
there seems to be an attitude with these manufacturers towards certain countries. Honda Seriously needs to up its Game in terms of Torque!! Whats the Obsession with 88/89 KW! HR-V with a price Tag of Over R500 000 only Boasts 89KW power! Is it contempt for the RSA market or what? Haval H6 OR HONDA HR-V?
@@neptunia4551 can't agree with you more. It's the same with the Mazda 3. Those puny 1,5l engines are so underpowered it's ridiculous. Again it's a lovely car let down by the wrong engine
What in the world is a BRV?! This is so strange. It looks like a cross between the USA 4th and 5th generation CRV. At first glance I thought it was a CRV but with a different name, until I realized the body style was different. It's always interesting to see another country's interpretation of a particular car model.
Great review Ciro - would be interesting to know if your opinion changed compared to what Hannes found. Maybe some B-grade roads are required for some squeaks and rattles? The Suzuki Ertiga is not pretty - and as highlighted only has 2 airbags - but it's only R316K. Mitsubishi Xpander way better looking - and it's R350k. They would be much better " Value" 7-seater options - but other than people movers with 7 airbags - not sure it's worth the premium for this. At R460K - Honda is being very opportunistic.
I had no idea this car was on sale outside of South East Asia. It's a car that would be awesome for Europe: roomy yet narrow, efficient, simple and predictably very reliable.
It's mind boggling how they put such a small engine in this car. Is no one at Honda saying hey guys shouldn't we put something with more oomph in. Really now.
Cool review. I like your laid back approach. Always! but as far as this car (MPV) is concerned, I'd pass. I mean, it looks far better than the last rendition, but moms would probably be happy about it instead.
i thought only Philippines is getting the short end of the stick when it comes to features and performance from Japanese cars but i guess you guys are too.
It's a bit confusing as to why they would try and pass this off as a crossover SUV. It's really just an MPV or modern day station wagon. It doesn't look bad at all, but it would make more sense if the engine was an 1.8 or a 2.0L. Considering it's 2022, the infotainment screen size is laughable and and the lack of Andoid Auto and Apple Carplay is a serious omission.
Looks like a great option for a Family car, Though it falls short in a few aspects, for one the CvT And the infotainment system which looks, as mentioned, pretty after market and does not even have android auto or Apple Car play. I guess that if a face lift can fix these issues it could be a genuine contender. Perhaps offer a manual transmission or dct.
The previous BRV looked nicer from the front. The manual is way better!!! You cannot fit a towbar Ciro, oopsie there mate… I don’t understand why Honda can’t spend another few ronts and install a proper infotainment system. Upgrades like blind spot detection and cruise control over the previous generation is nice. Sound insulation is not up to scratch Honda! The engine and economy balance is perfect, power is only available high up the rev range, but it’s a Honda and will last forever. Handling at highway speed with four kids is poor, and with no luggage space or ability to tow, I sold my previous gen. Why not test a mpv with passengers? Also, Ciro needs a gym after lockdown!
I think the formula for this car is off. For the price you're paying it needs a more powerful engine and better infotainment system. I don't know why they can't use the one in the Fit and Civic. If they decide to stick with this formula, then they should atleast try and bring the price down. If it was a sub 400k car it would be a very difficult vehicle to beat and you can overlook some of its shortcomings.
there seems to be an attitude with these manufacturers towards certain countries. Honda Seriously needs to up its Game in terms of Torque!! Whats the Obsession with 88/89 KW! Even with their BIGGER NUMBERS! HR-V with a price Tag of Over R500 000 only Boasts 89KW power! Is it contempt for the RSA market or what? Haval H6 OR HONDA HR-V? They FKED UP with HR-V. DAMP-SQUIB!
A nice car let down by the underpowered engine and the CVT gearbox...personally, i wont touch a car this big, with such a small engine or any car with a CVT or DSG gearbox!
Honda! Please just stop using these naturally aspirated weed eater engines. Just pop in a turbo honestly! Drop a cylinder and add a turbo. Give and take.
Love Honda's, but they might as well withdraw from SA. Most are overpriced and underpowered. Kia and Hyundai rules here, and the Chinese offerings are getting tasty too. 145 nm, nah, rather walk, ty...
I am certain that more people will definitely be buying this one instead of the outgoing model. Honda is definitely improving in terms of design as opposed to Hyundai.
disappointing that such a well put together SUV which is practical has no Andorid Auto and apple car play and also the power is rather low for such a big SUV. it will struggle when fully loaded.
Even a Suzuki Baleno GL which costs R 225 900 comes Apple Car play and Android Auto as standard, the media screen isn't really appealing. For a car in its segment, the power is really low. Honda missed a lot of things that other similar cars have and cost less. It's a boring car, at least it looks good on the outside.
Glad to see you driving through Century City perfect place for this vehicle 😅🤞🏾🙃 Awesome review. I guess this will be a favorite for driver or shuttle services 🙃but sub 500k😳🤔🥺🫣
