Bro what if its not all artic? In some sets there are not icey enviroments like the small boat, it has turtles, corals and etc, only that are 100% artic are the base and the seal one
The ship one may be somewhere in norway or uk and sweden, as the shipwreck is a viking ship, the submarine one may be there as well or more at the atlantic ocean, or maybe even pacific, but it may not in the artic, because in artic oceans there are not white sharks, and there are white shark-like sharks, the sharks that live there are groeland sharks, but the bottom of the ocean looks similar, so maybe its in the same region as the ship, who knows
Not a big set buyer and collector, but as a MOC builder, I'm glad LEGO is making these new City sets with animals like these Arctic sets (and like the safari sets from 2021) because I can just acquire the animals from the online PAB without having to buy the whole set.
I'm still salty that I was never able to acquire one of the grown elephants off of Bricks and Pieces. At least one part of it was always sold out whenever I looked, cause of resellers. I was able to snag the baby elephant, baby gator, some lions, and monkeys, along with having bought 2 of the small $5-10 sets, so I'm not lacking animals by any means, though.
With all the new animals LEGO has released the last couple of years, I feel a Zoo is almost mandatory in a city. And with many cheap/affordable sets, this could be achieved. On a side note, there are also anough animals to make a big farm.
I love the little sets, like the seal set in this wave, or the otter set from a few months ago. They're super cheap and have cute little animals in them. I got the otter set to add to my A frame cabin
Looking at these sets, I find the colors absolutely attractive and the ship design looks awesome too! Given the opportunity, I would 100% prioritize the ship.
I got the smallest and the one with the turtles, tried to get the big ship today at target but they wouldn't sell it to me as the release date hasn't hit yet in the US
First lego city wave i've been interested in. So many thoughts: 1) Subnautica 2) Look at that boat! 3) Simply delete the spam minifigs and shrapnel builds, leaving the two largest scenes. 4) That's a shelf! 5) I love the toyness / roleplay / toy purpose of these. 6) "Redundancy of star wars". Like. Yeah i don't know if kids would fantasize being in the snow but adult males who have watched one too many documentaries probably would.
Great run down, thanks. I like the sets, not too happy about the duplicate figs though, and I doubt that Helicopter on the front landing pad would survive even a mild arctic storm in such a place, that seems very silly to me, plus it blocks the view from the ship bridge. And the Orca should have had angry eyes. But still, great sets.
I love the sets but more than anything I love love love the sealife. Overall more animals please. Dare I say Lego, a goat would be a nice affordable animal to have in Lego form…. 🤪
Technically these are "explorer" sets with 2 previous themes merging, that being "arctic" and "deepsea diver". The ship really does merge the 2 themes with it being an arctic explorer vessel. While the smaller vessel is more of a divers set. As is the sub. While the lab and snowmobile are true to the arctic. So its 2 and a 1/2 set each. Being deepsea divers/arctic.
The small vessel really is tropical scenery with the coral hammerhead and turtles. They don't live in the cold. While the sub kinda is in between. Since sharks and jellyfish live everywhere. The big vessel is arctic only due to the cold weather vest the captain has and orcas mostly live up north. The 2 land based sets are arctic. But if they continue the theme next year perhaps we can get some more worldwide from exploration. Even jungle. I would also really love to see antarctic exploration. Penguins are awesome and haven't seen them for a while in Lego.
I think there's actually 9 different members of the team, the biggest set has 7, the blue haired diver, and the woman with long black hair that comes in 2 other sets
My guess behind the height of that mobile lab is 1. To look night with the arctic cat plow. 2. To hint that in case the base is left in a spot long term that snow buildup isn’t a problem for lore and 3. That if we get a wave 2 it will be able to hookup to it as some of the real bases at the South Pole and north are high up on giant legs
The large boat definitely caught my eye, definitely would have gotten it a few years ago when i was getting sets that were more geared towards playability.
I remember my son was young when the last artic sets came out. He was so excited about them but we never got any. The animals make them so great for play and give kids some great pieces to add to their collections.
I think the small glowing fish might be caused by the crystals. I really want to get them all after getting the sub and make a nice underwater area on my bookshelf
This looks really cool!! While I agree the large arctic boat would look very odd in the small pier in your Lego city, I like your idea for an arctic display underneath the city. I even think some of the aquatic animals might look better in a aquarium.
I got them all and I must say these are fine sets. The arctic/deep sea fusion is great. After all the turtle rescue and the sub are not arctic. While the other 3 are. It makes for a great theme and I hope they add some more.
i love these sets, have a lot of the previous waves of arctic sets and I hope I can get these too when I can afford it. Love that huge ship, looks like it is the same or a little bigger than the previous diving ship they made, and those animals are impressive.
I'm 50/50 for the arctic explorer ship. It's pretty pricey and it has a helipad in front of the bridge. It also has alot of empty space. On the other hand I love boats and I love the interior and the big size. I just wish lego would make more yachts and cargo ships.
Wanted to see the great white and orca molds side by side and what I see is pretty cool. Hope someone does an moc that includes a fight between them some day
I really like these sets and can definitely see the attraction of these sets to kids with great playability. However the one thing that seems strange to me is if it is and arctic line a few of the set features don’t seem very arctic centered. Is the there a lot of pirate treasure, turtles, and sting rays in arctic waters? Seems or tropical of a tropical location to me.
When I was a kid I was mostly into Space, and then later I got into Technic. But I absolutely would have loved these sets. Had they existed back then I'd probably have been into this series instead of Space. I was really into marine biology, diving, and undersea things and these sets really would have fit that so well. And the playability is great with all the animals, undersea structures, meteors, etc, to interact with. I think you're right that some of the features don't seem all that "arctic" but that also could give the sets some more appeal, since your play doesn't necessarily have to be limited to "cold areas" or matched with the earlier Arctic sets. You could play or display these sets with things like the Ocean Explorer, Sea Rescue, Pirate and Viking themed boats, etc. They could even be a fun match to play with others: Maybe the Coast Guard shows up to rescue the Wrecked Shrimp Boat at the Lighthouse of Darkness, and calls in the scientists to investigate the strange things found there. These sets are awesome in my opinion! So much play potential!
I made the suggestion on your live stream to do an underwater theme like Jang Bricks. I definitely will get all of those sets, definitely something different for a change like you said.
These look really good, but I'm just a kid, so...... these are a bit to expensive for me. I am looking for a good, fairly cheap Lego set because I have some money I want to burn. If any of you guys have a Creator Expert modular you want to get rid of,(why would you) then you can let me know if you would like.
That ship has to be the greatest floatable modern ship we probably have ever gotten. Previous ships have never really provided any interior space outside of a small bridge, but sleeping quarters, work stations, small dining area, AND a bathroom, on top of that they managed to work in functional doors, other ships would either leave it completely opened or rely on imagination and have it all sealed up since you can open up the ship. And as mentioned a place to store everything the set came with, a place for the sub, the boat, helicopter, and the scuba gear.
Do you have the old Lego City Ocean or Lego (city) Artic sets? Because together, they really make a nice line-up. They should bring out those old sets, if updated, a bit, would go well with these new ones. Lets be real, that new submarine, really needs that Lego City Ocean line, it's big exploration ship, since it won't fit in the new exploration ship, at all. It's too big. As for that mobile lab, the old Lego City Artic line, had similar builds across it's entire line setup, would work quite well together, there, a mobile base, like the british poolbase 6.
You don’t need to worry. If I worry about space, then it is impossible for me to buy any new set. Because I live in a very crowded city, I also had to worry that the themes of different set don’t match. However, I think the mismatch would make the presentation more interesting.
These sets look amazing! My son and I can't wait to get our hands on them! I am SOOOOOO sick and tired of the Hollywood movie themed sets Lego has been just dominating their lineups with. I loved Lego before it became infested with all these big movie deals. Let kids make up their own storys and themes with Legos, stop forcing Hollywood crap on them! It takes out easily 50% of the imagination that goes into what makes Lego awesome!
They are cool set’s don’t get me wrong. But everyone is going to have A: the desire for them or B: the space for them. Me I think they are cool and I’d like to get them. But like most people it’s ether the price or the lack of space that stops me from buying them.
I have got the biggest set BUT: DO NOT BUY IT IF YOU HAVEN'T GOT ANY OTHER SETS FROM THIS COLLECTION, YOU WILL GET BORED FROM IT IF YOU DON'T BUY ANOTHER SET FROM THE COLLECTION, TRUST ME!
I think that depends. Some people collect trains others ships of Lego. So that would be the factor. As for the play feature. You got 3 arctic and 2 deep sea sets. Turtles and hammerheads don't live near the Arctic. So it's a fused theme😊
