Gilles Vidal (a young French designer who is the current Peugeot head designer) is indeed doing a fabulous job revolutionizing Peugeot's look. Thanks to him, Peugeot who was once ugly (207, 307, 407) now become beautiful (3008, 5008, 508, 208). Gilles Vidal is such a talented rookie. What's more impressive is that he's just starting his professional career some years ago. True gem. Chapeau to all his design team members too.

@@t-bone9239 VW goes for "boring middle aged man" designs. don't get me wrong, its a great car and in my third world shithole nothings considered as reliable as golfs or passats...but frankly they don't look timeless; they look boring even as prototypes. besides, show us VW that has aged as good as 206.

Love it, looks great, but what I find most impressive is that it has a water cooled battery and a 100 kW charger to refill its 50 kWh battery AND on top of that an 11 kW AC charger, that kind of AC charging speed is rare!. Peugeot has clearly driven a lot of electric cars and looked at all the flaws of the asian electric cars when it comes to slow charging, air cooled batteries that doesnt do well in neither warm days nor cold days... this thing is well thought through in terms of its drivetrain! Love it!

It’s got huge range, extremely fast charging, looks great, is probably overpowered for a non-sporty version, and it drives better than its old style siblings. EVs are about to take off. And this is just the beginning. They’re going to get way better still, which is nuts.

A real looker this. Those who call 208 ugly should better get their eyes checked. German/Korean/Japanese hatchbacks suddenly look boring, outdated and sometimes outright ugly. PSA is killing it.

With the e-208, Peugeot will loan you an ice 208 if you want to go on long journeys (or so i heard). I think this 208 will be as successful as the 205 it emulates in so many respects.

Give the guys a break. They are turning around material far quicker that anyone else in overcrowded far from ideal conditions. As for the car it’s a stunner. Peugeot are certainly on a roll at the moment. Piano black on the wheel arches is a howler though. I think Honda are making the same mistake on the HRV sport.

Viable for long trips Brian? This thing has 100kw CCS charging, and those chargers are springing up all over Europe right now with Ionity, Fastned etc. It’s going to be super easy to do long road trips in this.

Yes i agree, it has a very good range and fast charging. You can make with this thing RoadTrips with no problem. I drive a ZOE with 150km range. and only 43kW AC Charging, even with that car a made holiday trips about 650km+ on one day!

MrTechfreak95 When I had a first gen Zoe with 22kw, charging I did 450 miles (724km) in one day. That was on a 1200 mile road trip from South coast of England to the Scottish highlands. With this 208 it would be hilariously easy by comparison.

@@christill Wow, respect. Yeah with the 208 its just a piece of cake. :) Who need more than 400km / 250mi per charge... You have to take breaks anyways. I think we are now on the point where e-Cars getting interesting for the general public. And I'm happy to see that finally happening....

@@christill How? Is there sufficient infrastructure for electric charging across the United Kingdom? I live in Belgium and don't see that often charging points or more than 2 at one place....do you schedule your stops in advance? And how do you justify the high purchase price, an electric car is good for environmental arguments but in no means you ever win back the price difference compared to a diesel or benzine car.

Peugeot became synonym for futuristic design, Citroen for avant-garde and Renault for sophistication. I'm so glad they changed their design philosophy! New models look stunning imo.

the complete 50kwh battery modul is provided from CATL China. Peugeot is the first car, VW id will follow..

@@marcinsobczak2485 It is all about the implementation, not about the technic used. People are often fooled by that. Like many LED headlamps are worse than ever. Peugeot 308 is well known to have the best chassis in its class. Look att km77 in youtube for example.

This e-208 is very interesting i like it very much. :) And it should get 3-Phase 11kW AC Charging + 100kW CCS DC This in the video has only 1-phase. :( And it looks very sporty. I think Peugeot is on the right path with that one. :)) Finally a new e-Car that is not a SUV !!

I really like the looks of this car. And for the right price this will be a great car to have. A bit to small for a main car with kids but really good for the second car. Range is more then enough for everything with these charge speeds. Good job Peugeot

I love the new 208! The styling is terrific. It has just enough silhouette to harken back to the 80's 205 Classic without looking retro. Interior looks great too for a small car. I think they definitely have a hit on their hands here. I would take this hands down over the boring Polo.

The exterior design is great, it reminds me of the old 106 and 206 models, especially the back. Unfortunately, as in the case of the 508, the dashboard almost ruins everything ...

That colour is STUNNING! Best metallic blue I've ever seen on a car. The interior is superb and I love the front of the car. However, the rear looks a mess and those black wheel arch trims look awful too.

Love every part of the exterior. Not sure about the interior. It's interesting but looks like the inside of a sportswear shop, when it should have looked like a cool cafe. Peugeot did it better with the 3008 and BMW nailed it with the i3 interior.

I totally agree. The fact that they added both high gloss black plastic (piano lacquer look) and fake carbon fiber to the interior is reason enough to make me look elsewhere for my next car. I have a pretty strong aversion to both. The same goes for excessive use of blue trim in electric cars btw. but at least they didn't follow the examples of the German manufacturers on that one. 😊

This car will put the new Zoe 2 that was not really improved way behind. I come back from my Peugeot dealer with an offer for the GT e-208 with quite a lot of options for a bit over 30.000€. The 50kw/h battery is for me the best battery size for price/autonomy ratio. I'm just waiting a road test to take my decision.

I don't know why, but this car exterior reminds me a 205, but I'm not satisfyimg with the rear seats. I know this car would be a super sales series, but I spected an air intakes in the center console for real passengers and better materials in the rear Doors. Despite that, I lovr this car

smaller wheels are much better for BEVs. They are less noisy, less consumption and less bumpy.

I agree (in general). Actually one of the very few gripes I have with Teslas are the big wheels. They're bad for efficiency and comfort and make the cost of changing tyres much higher than necessary.

@@bmwman1981 Big wheels generally look better on Tesla's as well as on most other cars. I think so too. Personally I just care less about looks when you compare that to the significantly added costs, loss of efficiency and higher noise levels in the cabin. But each to his own of course. Many people make more sacrefices for vanity than I do. If it makes them happy I'm more than fine with that.

Brian - you start off by saying that you think that we are ready for the electric 208. Do you really think this? I'm afraid that I have to disagree to some extent. There are millions of potential customers for this car, like myself, who have nowhere to charge at home. The infrastructure for EV charging in the UK is, let's be polite, and say minimal. As for the car itself, it looks great in my opinion. I'll be having a test drive if Peugeot bring a petrol GTI out in the future.

Having experienced french electrics I would never buy a fully electric 208 it’s most likely as reliable as a chocolate fire guard and that screen is in a stupid place why didn’t they mount it in the dash lower down where I would expect it to be fitted and not plonked on top of the dash like they ran out of time to fit it

Admit it, it's all going to be about the price of the LLD (location longue duree) which Peugeot usually targets very effectively. Euro sub 150 a month with a small initial payment will get the sales (plus a strong second hand market) so, could be a game changer! Get the LLD wrong and it's just another electric car.
