Of all the new cars that has come out this impressed me the most. The design is actually very simple/focused and effective with little go-fast dress kit, fake intake, mufflers and all like some manufacturers are putting with every new model. Shades of Opel Insignia with the "coupe" sedan-cum-hatch opening. The dash/interior is Wow! Some of the finish/tech intuitiveness may not be up to scratch but overall is a very special place. Peugeot should just ditch the gloss piano with a matte texture or something different that can also give the interior a more natural feel. Hurrah for the spare wheel. Think this car has got a lot of class and presence more so than Citroen DS brand in comparison and a couple of other brands. Have to add am quite positive with what PSA will do with next iteration of a French built/designed Insignia. Love your work Brian! Tops.

It really does have the character of a 1980s Citroen! Quirky, strange, cool and awkward all at once. More interesting than the bland model it replaces for sure. Though the outside is definitely more cohesive than the inside.

I'm so sold on this.... and i only ever owned german cars... Thats A5's Cayennes, 4 Series etc. Only downside if i have to point out for me is probs from the b pillar backwards its slightly too saloon-y looking for me, i wish the roof lines were a bit more coupe/sportback like.

I really like it. I’m a fan of French design and I do like the back a lot. The Peugeot rear lights are so cool and on the saloon it looks like a Mustang. The interior is one of my favourites. The digital dash is fantastic. I don’t know why French cars seem to be so quick in adopting digital on more affordable cars but I love it. And it’s a hatchback. So it’s pretty practical as well. The perfect non-luxury saloon.

I agree with most here. Really interesting design wise. They seem to have hit the mark here. Hopefully this also will translate in sales for them. I disagree with Brian about the back. I think it looks unique (not easy to do these days) and has a couple of interesting ideas. The interior looks interesting. I don't understand why glossy black is making a comeback. Didn't we already decide years ago that it was terrible? Or are there certain markets who do like it and are just so important that the manufacturers are aiming their design on it (the Chinese market for example)? I don't like the 'tablet approach' when integrating a screen into a car.

As an owner of the 2017 peugeot 508 2.0 Bluehdi i hope that the quality of the new 508 is better. Ok, it looks nice but when the quality is like in the older model the "First edition" is WAY TOO overpriced. What's Your opinion? For this Price you can get nice A4 b9 2.0 tfsi, giulia, or even stinger 2.0 T :-)

Petrolhead No1 I'm also an owner of 2017 Peugeot 508 SW BlueHdi Allure automatic with full LED headlights, parking camera, blind spot monitoring, etc. and have no problems with the car or its quality. I'm intrested where are you from. Maybe it was made in different factory, because they were producing it for different markets all around the world.

Melania Izsevnice I have fullLED, blind spot sensor, rear view camera and actualy everything works ok (only handles with keylessgo works bad at winter). The quality I mean some plastic rattle noises, or the ECOleather on the driver seat after 30kkm looks not good. I am from poland. Previoust generation had quite good price so some things can have small quality fails, but only details. Overall the car is nice (Engine is VERY good).
@melaniaizsevnice8207
@melaniaizsevnice8207 6 лет назад
Petrolhead No1 I undrestand. I also had some squeaking noise from drivers seat, but now it's ok. What version of engine do you have? Because I saw in some reviews that they still offer 2.0 diesel with 163 HP engine after midlife update in some markets , in our country (I'm from Slovenia, so hi to brother Slavs😉), you could get 2.0 version with 150HP or 180HP with new Aisin 6speed automatic.

Just like with the Talisman, I love this new design. Just like with the Talisman, I actually love the back! And just like with the Talisman, I think the back looks better than the front because of the weird headlamp lines, like these saber teeth on this Peugot, which I find the most pity design feature of the entire car.

In order to make room for the expanding model family, cheaper models such as the world car 301 will always carry the "1" in the back.

Unfortunately and sadly, build and assembly quality and details you do not first think about or notice, does not hold high quality, some details are cheap. It's apparent that they saved money where they know that most people won't discover it... A car that is not so well built and lavishly as the surface gives the impression of, well, it feels very unpleasant... Are they trying to fool the customers with dazzling fireworks? If you don't believe in this, spend a week with exclusively a study of the body and the car - and not the equipment... It is very clear and easy to see. Very sad, sorry for such a fun car. But PSA does not prioritize quality, just productivity and low costs. - and unfortunately... That priority is visible if you look for it...
@hvbel6993
@hvbel6993 6 лет назад
How can you write something like that, without take place inside (and probalby see) the car in reallity. Absolutly unsuable comments. (Do you know that some German car makers, supplied their interior at a French supplier Cie, partially owned by PSA ? )
@Djeseret
@Djeseret 6 лет назад
Oh that's easy, I am an expert in studying such things, and apparently you are not. It is obvious that the one who has expertise in an area can do what appears impossible for the one who misses the same. Study the car and you'll see that it's right, if you can not see it, Unfortunately, that's just your problem. Individual components and how the car is being built and designed are not the same.
@hvbel6993
@hvbel6993 6 лет назад
My question was how can you explain something without seeing really this new Car ? Can you not imagine that Peugeot make prgress ? I do know a lot of expert of everything, also in my Company. It´s funny sometimes how the conclusion are made. And at the end, the Price Level is also an issue. I wait for 80.000 Euro something perfect. For 40.000 Euro I would can accept some less Points. I am activ in a technology which are also made for the car industry.
@Djeseret

It's no problem, there is incredibly much information available on 508, but you have to find and pick it out yourself, that's where you need the skill. It's not easy for those who have never done so before. To search and find and process information is an extremely important ability in today's complex society, but sadly also a very neglected ability that means that people do not have access to full information - and it results in that you draw conclusions and form an impression which you think is correct based on what you know, but you do not know all the facts and therefore your conclusion is wrong. See what Sherlock Holmes says about it. Peugeot is making progress, 508 is the best car they ever made - but it does not change the facts, one cannot ignore reality, There are many shortcomings in execution and construction Carlos Tavares constantly criticizes Opel for too high costs and poor productivity, but if you look at the cars there is a big difference in content, execution and technology, Opels cars are so much more advanced and expensive and PSA so much cheaper and more primitive which makes Travares criticism completely misleading then the cars are not comparable at all - and It is caused by that PSA does not prioritize advanced performance and great care, just productivity and low costs. Progress with 508 does not change this at all, instead, simplification continues and the care of details decreases. The money is invested instead in modern equipment that attracts attention, but the car itself is simple and primitive. But people never discover such because they cannot get that information and they still would not understand it. Certainly you can look at details and say “look what care for details, what a impressive car”… And that is true of these points, and you're supposed to think so, one wants that you should think so. The meaning is that the impression will make you feel impressed so that you look positive on the car and not begin to review it critically. Because if you do, you will discover less impressive details and the whole car is carefully designed to draw attention away from these less impressive details so you do not notice them, just the spectacular design serves partly, but only partially, this purpose.
