You have two sets of batteries in the machine. When the first set is fully discharged you take them out to the charger. Then you continue to throw snow with the second set which is already in the machine. If there is still more snow after the second set runs down you go in for a cup of coffee until the first set is fully charged; which will be about the time you finish your coffee.

Is this able to use the standard 40V batteries that I have for weed whackers, Leaf blowers, chain and chain trim saws? That way, those could be used in a pinch for extra time. EGO system allows this. Their smaller amp batteries for lawn mowers and such work.

Update. Already saw one at a pawnshop. Only 3 weeks old. Selling for the 1/4 of its price now $350. Resale value of cordless blowers is in the dumps now and lots of pawnshops aren't even taking them in and that includes cordless lawnmowers. They used the snowblower to clear the small parking lot. Only half hour run time plus the batteries get hot. There needs to be better upgrades for these brushless units.

Hi Lisa. I know what you mean about the instructions and the chute. Basically, it just sets down on the mantle and does not get bolted or screwed in. That I one thing that I am looking forward to seeing how it handles once it snows. The only real support it has is the handle Bae that goes in the middle of the blower. The attachment screws into it, but again, the chute does not screw into the base

@l337pwnage 2 года назад
The original Ariens were like that, and there are two wheel tractor systems around that are like that, but it's not common as the economics have changed enough that people can afford completely separate powered machines. Having a blower, a mower, a tiller, a lawn vac, all with separate engines isn't as expensive as it used to be.

Ryobo sent a truck with a replacement and told me to keep #2 for parts. 6 inches of snow last night. #3 was fabulous for about 30 minutes. I think the problem might be a weak internal shear pin. The only problem with these new two stage battery powered snow blowers is all the new advances in electronics. For instance the new technology lets you set any speed with the wheels with the little lever. And you can do the same thing with the auger. THIS TECHNOLOGY HAS NOT BEEN PROVEN YET FOR LONGEVITY IN THE COLD, IN THE MOISTURE AND EVERYTHING ELSE!! I could tell you building and fixing electronics for 30 years is a good chance that people have a lot of failures with circuit boards and things like that. Yeah they had a field day building these electronic advancements but I have a bad feeling long term.. Picture You're just snow blowing You go to push the lever to go forward and it just doesn't work. You don't know what to do. Probably a blown circuit bored or something else. Same thing with the auger. Moisture and water and electronics don't like each other.. usually doesn't work out well. And electronics over time the solder loosens up You get cold solder joints and stuff like that. And most likely these things are going to be in garages A lot of them are not heated so it's going to feel the extreme heat and extreme cold all the time. NOT GOOD FOR ELECTRONICS.. THIS IS WHY I LOVE THE TORO TWO-STAGE SNOWBLOWER THAT'S BATTERY-POWERED. They literally just took everything that's been working forever with their gas model I think it's the 824 or the 826. Using the disc and the rubber wheel method with the manual gears and auger, It has the automatic steering turning differential so you can do zero turns, the quick stick for the shoot that no other snowblower comes close, The anti-clogging system that's ingenious, Also comes with hand warmers!! Toro's stood the test of time some of them have lasted 40 years!! Yep Toro is so smart they were the first company to build The walk behind snowblower for the consumer in 1952!! Toro always seems to be the most intelligent and innovative when it comes to snow blowing. THEY UNDERSTAND WHAT MATTERS AND WHAT DOESN'T!!. So again they took their gas models with all the metal, built like a tank, AND ALL THEY DID WAS PUT A HIGH QUALITY ELECTRONIC MOTOR TO DRIVE EVERYTHING AND THE BEST OF ITS CLASS BATTERIES!! It could run on one battery or three batteries in the compartment.. The motor is designed to give more power when it needs it in less power when it doesn't.. But everything else works just like their gas mowers. If you break a belt, or anything else it's the same as replacing a belt on the 828 or 826.. And because the parts of been around for so long they'll be around probably forever just like most of their parts for all of their snow blowers. You can even get parts for snow blowers that are 50 years old and over!! YEP YOU STILL CAN. Let's see what happens when Ryobi, ego with this new speed technology, and auger technology electronics burn out or break!! GOOD LUCK FINDING THE PARTS FOR THAT AND GETTING IT REPLACED.. Not for the Toro If you want to be smart you can actually fix anything on the Toro yourself It's really simple. The technology has been proven works fantastic. And you could find tons and tons of people and RU-vid videos about how to fix anything on a Toro snowblower.. So in closing I definitely would not take a risk on a Ryobi all electronic new technology, or an ego. Seems like Toro did it right!! Taking a proven technology and just add a different motor!! ;) But the only problem with these new two-stage electric snow blowers. IS THE INHERENT NATURE OF BATTERIES AND POWER!! I DON'T CARE WHICH ONE YOU USE IN HEAVY SNOW THE TORO IS GOING TO BE THE BEST, BUT NONE OF THEM ARE GOING TO LAST MORE THAN 30 MINUTES WITH TWO BATTERIES!! Anything over 6 in anything relatively heavy at all IT'LL BE VERY SHORT RUNTIME. Then you have to go charge your batteries for 3 and 1/2 hours or if you're lucky to have a fast charger hour and 20 minutes go back out finish the job. In a big storm this could take all day. So you going to spend like $1,000 more to buy two more sets of batteries and the chargers. Maybe 2,000!! So you going for a product that cost $1,500 to $3,500. So if I had a big property I would definitely buy the gas version that'll cost you about $1,200. More maintenance but you're not going to run out of battery.. And you never have to stop really only to put gas. Don't get me wrong the Toro and the technology is awesome BUT BATTERY POWERED EQUIPMENT COST A LOT OF MONEY.. Peace out!!

Quit after 5 minutes. I think the pin which connects the motor with the auger broke. Nice machine, but obviously defective. Customer service not much help.

Exchanged it for another unit. 7 inches of snow last night. The second 40870 crapped out after ten minutes. Worked great for a while. I will return this after I dig out my 100-yard driveway by hand

Ryobi sent a truck with a replacement. 6 inches of snow last night. Snowblower #3 crapped out after about 30 minutes. Same issue, so I'm thinking this must be a shear pin thing. Auger motor sounds ok, but won't move the blades or the propeller. Shear pins appear intact. Batteries fine.

I dont see why anyone would want these tools that require so much battery power. It doesnt make sense to me at current prices and performance

I dont need to watch this to tell everyone that a Ryobi snowblower is thee worst investment you'll ever make. You better hope for powder to move any of it. Let alone their batteries dying within 15 -20 min.

Ryobi ain't the best brand. But it also ain't expensive like Milwaukee and Dewalt brands. That doesn't mean it's trash. I have the single stage 21 in blower and it clears my driveway with 3 lights out of 4 left on the battery.
