Toyota has unveiled a new truck aimed specifically at “emerging markets,” and it’s exactly the utility side-by-side we wish it would sell. The 2024 Toyota Hilux Champ was developed with lots of input from Toyota engineers in Thailand to suit the needs of blue-collar Thai workers, but the truck should see duty in other emerging markets. It’s about as bare-bones as a car can be, with very few options and very few creature comforts. That also means it’s cheap-at current exchange rates its base price is just north of $13,000.
