Another fantastic review, the depth and quality of your work is top notch. And bonus points for your lively and humorous banter! Thank you, from SoCal!
I am still honestly shocked at how good this car is. Even with the A-Pillar quirk and the dash quirk, and the lack of headroom due to the design. I am HAPPY that designed something with character and didn’t just chase function over form. I think it’s a perfect balance.
This is a fabulous looking car and glad you got it back to test drive. Zack looked a bit figity with the excelleration from pull away, smart colour too 💙
I drive 80% of the time with my windows down and arm hanging out sans a.c. and I live in FL. I'm glad you covered that. It would be a deal breaker for me.
One thing I’ve never understood is why some vehicles have tiny back seat room. I’ve never heard someone say they wish they had 5 inches of extra cargo room but that would be amazing added to a back seat. Or make back beat slide and be adjustable. Nice to see Toyota giving decent room in the back.
Some folks don’t have kids so back seats are useless. For the rare times you have to hall passengers, it’s only for short trips. Also, it was made primarily for Japanese, shorter on average. It’s an amazing commuter car for the typical Japanese solo driver.
@@Shabbir-A.Well I heard them say that the A-pillar view is poor, the noise on acceleration isn't great, that it has less rear seat room than a Hyundai Nero, that, for the price, it should have an electrically adjustable passanger seat etc. Sure they pointed out many good attributes but I heard some negatives too. Not sure why they'd start criticizing You Tube in the context of a car review. What would you have them say?
Thank you for the great review. The camera work & editing is excellent. Kudos to everybody involved. Getting in and out by tilting my head to the side would drive me nuts, Def not for me.
Well that’s rude! I love S for Subscribe! Love watching these videos. You guys go BEYOND excellent with the details, pricing, etc. I very much enjoy both of you adding information together and pointing out different aspects that one of you notice but the other doesn’t. Very well done. Perfect! 🖤
I spent close to 20 minutes at the dealer trying to find the right driving position. Granted, I have mutant long legs. But if I had the right spot for the instrument cluster, the B pillar was in the way (so was the A pillar). If I placed the seat not to be blinded by the B pillar, the wheel was right in front of the instrument cluster. When the dealer told me I MIGHT get a 2024 model (most probably a 2025), I tapped out and pulled the trigger on a RAV4 Woodland sitting inexplicably at the dealer. Ok, the RAV4 is the epitome of boredom. I admit. But when I give a look at that fuel gauge never ever going down, yeah, I smile and I have fun. I sincerely tought it was broken…
Along with the difficulty or impossibility of finding the right driving position, the instrument cluster looks unfinished. Almost like they forgot some trim pieces between the wheel and the display.
@@kevinb2844 Liking it or not ain’t really the point. It’s an efficient and cost limiting appliance. You won’t have fun behind the wheel: it’s boring and unflavoured. But if you get the point of this thing, it’s magnificent.
Yes, at 5’2” I could not find a position that worked for me. I’ve owned a couple Prius and was disappointed with the ‘23 new model. The dash design is awful. I like the exterior. I am happy to see Toyota changing to a full monitor across dash in the ‘25 Camry and Crown. Hoping they upgrade the Rav similarly…. It is really a dated dash design.
You two are the BEST! You do a fantastic job of reviewing cars, and your fabulous relationship allows interruptions without slapping the offender - ZAC! I love your summaries of the vehicle and competitors. One question that may not be able to answer easily. How well do the cars you test handle snowy weather. We have watched our families who live in Denver embrace Subaru’s since they are great in the snow, but I have not watched a car review on any RU-vidr provide that information on a regular basis. We test rented a brand new 2022 Prius on Oahu in January and Zac’s description of planning ahead for acceleration was spot on! One thing that is interesting - while it took the 2022 version awhile to get up to speed, it had not problem maintaining that speed. The rental got over 60MPG, which is probably the only reason people purchase this vehicle. Perhaps you could provide an estimate on height and width limit for occupants of these cars? IF Zac’s “giant torso” = about 6’ total then recommendation would probably be for buyers under 6’?
Coming from an upright CUV to something so restrictive low slung would be a problem for many baby boomers. And the ultra sloping front windshield restrictive A pillar can be a deal breaker for many. Thanks for pointing out these problems.
Between Prius hybrid and prime, I believe on a long highway drive (8 to 10 hours) the fuel economy of the hybrid is better than the prime, because of the bigger battery in prime makes it heavier. I prefer the hybrid.
Thanks, I'm a new viewer and I learned what the "pillars" are, I never heard of them but if I heard A pillar I would've assumed there's some pillar shaped like an A. 😅
I love my 2023 mini cooper countryman all 4s , but here in the Ny suburbs I have not seen one new Prius just to look at they must be hard to get, All the best to you guys& jack!❤🙏👍
@@phillipbanes5484 I sat in it at the car show here in Toronto, the whole steering wheel/binnacle setup was really off. I couldn't see the speedo. And the rear seat is like the Model 3, ie tight. The sloped roof is an issue. The new exterior design is really nice though. The Crown sport SUV adopted this design. That would be my top pick.
I understand the whole industry is starting to change over to fix a flat cans over traditional spares,,(especially in hybrids) so your enjoying the 55 MPG’s,,road tripping and 200 miles from your house you get a flat.😢 Good luck!
Great new design. Impressive changes. But three words continue to come to mind…. ‘Too much money’. Nearly $50 grand to get pretty decent mileage, just doesn’t make sense… for an city commuter small car It is only a boring Toyota after all, despite it’s cool(er) design. Maybe Lexus should sprinkle some of their magic on it. But… then it’d probably be well over $60,000! Which sounds even more insane…. doesn’t it? I’d have have a very difficult time (consciously) recommending it to anyone … regardless of their income. Too bad. Thanks for the video.
Prius is gorgeous.. $43,000 Canadian I put a deposit on the 2024 Corolla Hybrid SE AWD. $35,000 Canadian I wonder if I should have chosen the 2024 Corolla Hybrid LE AWD $33,000 Canadian I could have saved $2,160 when comparing SE vs. LE MSRP. Too bad I'm not flush with cash. If I were - I'd splurge for the Prius with .5L/100km better fuel efficiency.
there is another alternative choice: Hyundai Ioniq which is a great Hybrid with even better fuel economy than Prius hybrid you shown and at a little bit lower price
The volume knob is way to far from the driver. It’s basically for the passenger. Seems like they just didn’t bother to move it from the right hand drive models.
@@genericreference6969. I’m sure there are. However…an actual knob is far more efficient when you need to adjust more than one or two notches at a time.
Can’t they make the door openings higher and into the roof (like an aircraft style doors) in order to ease ingress and egress? The contrasting black and white instrument displays is a real eyesore. Make them both with the same background color.
I've had my 2023 Prius Limited since early June. I absolutely love the car with one exception that I can't see any change ever happening. In order to achieve the MPG and the overall design, try just one time cleaning the inside of the windshield. I think I'm going to have to go to a zoo and hire a chimpanzee to do it for me.
I wish the Prius had more ground clearance in the AWD version. I didn’t like the RAV at all, but I Love my Forester Touring, but I wish it was a hybrid
@@ms.b9093 Fit and finish, comfort, engine and road noise, rear outward visibility, seating position. My 11 RAV4 Limited 4WD was everything that the 22 was not. The quality of workmanship was horrible in the 22. The Toyota Venza was a total contrast from the RAV, except for the rearward visibility. Also it costs Less to insure a Subaru than Toyota. When I bought my wife her Outback in 21 for her 50th birthday and we dropped her 18 year old Camry our insurance premiums DROPPED by $300. The same savings happened when we dropped the insurance on our 2011 RAV and added my Forester Touring. Had we of bought the new RAV, our insurance premiums would have gone UP by $700 per year. When we owned our RAV. We had to put studded snow tires on every year, but with our Subie’s we simply drove on the factory tires year round until they wore out. I would recommend the Forester over the RAV any day.
Who doesn’t like the “S” bit I ain’t even subscribed to y’all and I say “lemme put it in S for subscribe” to myself almost every time I hop in my car 😂
Been a minute since I spouted off about this car, so :) lol First off I LOVE Prius. Biggest reasons, mileage and car camping with climate control. Next, this car "looks" WAY better than my 2019 or my 2022. Now, most people buy a Prius for fuel economy, and for this one to not go up a good chunk, but in fact, stay the same, was a fail #1 As for the huge increase in HP, if you wanted a sports car, why the heck would you buy a Prius ??? Nobody can convince me that if they had shot for a small increase in HP... maybe say from 123 to 140, that they could have gotten an improvement in mileage, from like 52 to 58 or 60. Fail #2 Again, it looks great, but it now has less headroom, and maybe more importantly, less trunk space. fail #3 Will definitely keep my less attractive, more functional 2022.
Great show Andrea! Yea a few minor things didn’t work for some people like the pillars and like Zack, he would bang his head on the pillar like that. For Zack’s case, he is tall enough to have his hair touch the ceiling. Also the driver display doesn’t work on me as I noticed that. But other that great vehicle! ☕️☕️
Weird decisions like the manual drivers seat, one zone climate control, no map pocket behind the driver's door, no rear vents and hard black plastic in the rear makes the car not as good as it should be. It's still a huge upgrade and it's mostly styling, not practicality, and performance that are upgraded. But some of the decisions made are head scratching.
I really want to buy Prius but with that insane mark up price 5k-10k. I don't want to buy Prius to promote this kind of greedy mark up price. I think I am gonna find other brand for hybrid.
Thank goodness for Andrea! Ha! I agree regarding the passenger seat. It’s 2023…passenger seat should not be manual. Dash board material on passenger side is so strange. Wish it was solid black. The mottled black and gray makes it look dirty or dusty. Hope I’ll get used to this. Wish the blue didn’t show dirt and scratches. Pretty color but I don’t have a good place for watching. 2023 Prius has just received high safety rating except for the headlights. Wish it had more traditional headlights. More options for XLE would be great! Thanks for your great reviews!
I don’t see any of those others to be a better option. I’m definitely not buying a Hyundai. If you’re going to get a Corolla you may as well get the Prius for a little more. And I don’t think the accord is worth 6k more. Prius all the way.
