This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new Volkswagen ID. 7 flagship electric sedan. The all-new Volkswagen ID.7 all-electric sedan will hit dealerships the second half of 2024 and will be made in Germany. Pricing will be announced closer to the on sale date.
We tested the all-new Volkswagen ID.7 RWD model with a gross output battery of 82 kWh, usable 77 kWh. It has 282 horsepower and 402 lb-ft of torque. On the European test cycle, it gets up to 621 km/386 miles of range. The target for the North American market is 480 km/300 miles. An AWD model will be coming later.
The all-new Volkswagen ID.7 can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 112 mph/180 kph.
Standard features of the all-new Volkswagen ID.7 include a 15” touchscreen, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto an augmented reality head-up display, 10-colour ambient lighting, available 30-colour, navigation, heated fronts seats, a heated steering wheel and 19” wheels. Other available features include a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, 12-way adjustable front seats with memory, thigh support and a massage feature. I have to tell you the massage function is fantastic!
The all-new Volkswagen ID.7 is 195.3” long and 73.3” wide with 40.6” of headroom in the front row, 37.8” in rear. Trunk space is 18.8 cubic feet and overall space is 56 cubic feet.
The VW ID.7 has an 11-kW onboard charger and can support a 400 volt charging infrastructure with charging speeds up to 175 kW. With a DC Fast Charger you can charge this sedan from 10 to 80% in 28 minutes.
There is a new charging and thermal management function which pre-conditions the battery ahead of DC Fast Charging stops.
