This definitely feels like a unique moveset to the milady so I'd imagine the more traditional light greatswords will have a more grounded moveset which should be awesome
@@Invader_Hex Yes it's not my kind of fun. Previous FS games were unique and at their best when giving us semi-believable weightedness and movesets to weapons & actions. Obviously there were dumb meme exceptions like ninja havels, but Elden Ring has taken this ridiculous showy kitsch and applied it everywhere. They ruined the semi-serious combat aesthetic they had established with souls/bloodborne/sekiro with bullshit. That makes me sad.
*All Weapons w/Infusions and AoWs from the menu:* Lightning Perfume Bottle - Kick Red Bear's Claw - Red Bear Hunt Sacred Dryleaf Arts - Dryleaf Whirlwind Sacred Halberd - Aspect of the Crucible: Wings Magic Smithscript Spear - Impaling Thrust Sacred Smithscript Greathammer - Endure Magic Smithscript Axe - Wild Strikes Flame Art Great Katana - Overhead Stance Sacred Backhand Blade - Blind Spot Fire Knight's Flame Art Greatsword (Colossal) - Flame Spear Flame Art Claymore - Spinning Gravity Thrust Magic Milady - Wing Stance Longsword - The Poison Flower Blooms Twice Sacred Smithscript Dagger - Piercing Throw Every one of these new weapon classes goes unbelievably hard. They look just as good in practice as they did in the trailer
@@Kudmip It's the name of a series of weapons. Has me wondering who or what the Smithscript is. Excited to see what kind of story elements surface with all these new weapons and ashes
it seems to be an additional weapon type, as people have reported a number of existing weapon types that have smithscript added to them like javalins and great hammers and such. And they all universally have their R2 replaced with a thrown attack.
So crazy the number of new ashes of war. This is incredible but I have no idea how they are gonna balance all these different combos/weapons etc. Prob gonna be some stupidly overpowered interactions people will figure out real quick 😂 Part of the fun though…
Bro the great katana is literally straight out of sekiro, not only does it look like a katana a boss would use in that game, but the ash of war is actually the same animation the ashina castle enemies use, and dont get me wrong, I am not saying that from a place of “ugh fromsoft is so lazy they’re just reusing animations” NO I F**KING LOVE THAT!! PEOPLE CAN FINALLY MAKE “sekiro” BUILDS IN A SOULS GAME LETS FREAKING GO BABY THE SAMURAI BUILDS ARE EVEN MORE SICK IN ELDEN RING
If you reuse stuff to throw out a quick shitty game out of greed, that's bs. FromSoft doesn't reuse assets out of laziness, they just make cool shit, so I've never had a problem with it. I don't mind studios reusing assets to cut on development time if the end product is amazing. Go ahead and focus that talent on the new awesome stuff
@@lif6737”reuse out of greed” im not sure how reusing stuff they made constitutes as greed and more rather just being resourceful and working into something cool for another game (in the context of weapons anyways) but alright lol
I love Elajjaz. He's a great guy and very entertaining streamer. Does lots of variety and lots of scuffed horror games. Great community/chat interaction. Would recommend
I keep up with him through his RU-vid channel and the unofficial archive channel. Been watching since 2014. He got me into the Souls series. Great streamer, the only one I watch nowadays.
The Light Greatsword seems cracked, I love it already. The Great Katana feels like Owl from Sekiro, with the AoW being Ichimoni strikes. Awesome. Beast Claws were one of my favorite weapons in Bloodborne so I'm glad to see they're living on in some form. Stoked for that. The martial arts are hype, I will absolutely be using that. Assuming it weighs nothing, I will probably work it in to every build. Time to farm some smithing stones.
*this* is what Miyazaki means when he said/says ER is truly a culmination piece; it literally pulls and builds upon all of their games and I absolutely love it for it. My favorite game of all time.
To me it really feels like Elden Ring is meant to be a last hurrah. Like I don't know what they plan to do after this, but it feels like to me this was meant to be like the last greatest Souls like type thing. Maybe in the future they're going to have more sekiro style games, maybe they're going to keep doing one-off games like bloodborne. I don't know what's going to happen but I'm very excited, an elden ring is all I could have asked for in a Souls like to be honest.
@@Primalintent well, they did release Armored Core 6. So I could imagine, maybe they wanna put Souls-likes to rest and focus on their mecha franchise and perfect it and improve it the way they did with the souls formula.
@@Primalintent I think something of this scale won't be seen for awhile at least. Miyazaki has said he wants to rely on other game directors more at FromSoft, and he wants to pursue more passion projects for himself. What we're probably going to see going forward is smaller scale, but much more focused and unique games that wouldn't quite fit the mold of a Soulsekiborne Ring game.
Except for Bloodborne. Would've loved some trick weapons in this game. Ashes of war are fine but nothing has quite scratched that itch of a buttery smooth transform attack.
This is the weapon type I’m most excited for. I’m definitely more hyped for the others after seeing them here, but I can’t wait to play with the Odachi
The fire one is DEX scaling, lightning is DEX/FTH, I assume frost is DEX/INT. IIRC someone said there was a poison one which I assume is ARC or DEX/ARC.
I know an actual longsword type weapon the longsword in game is an arming sword not a longsword but balance and so on originally, plus from what i've seen while it looks solid im not so sure how well the weapon art etc actually does, the hyperarmor doesn't seem too special but it does look like it has some good true combo attacks.
@@KABLAMMATS yeah, and the movements look much nicer imo. I kinda hate how majority of greatswords in ER have that just "blunt" weapon apprach, where they will bang it on the floor. the banished Knight greatsword has a really nice "flowy" moveset, so the light greatswords really excite me.
@Ironfist_Alexander45 you're confusing 2 different weapons. There is no Smithscript sword shown. There's only the Smithscript Dagger, Spear, Axe and Hammer. The Flame Knights Flame Art Greatsword is the one with Fire Spear ash of war.
honestly it's getting rediculous how scared people are about seeing literally anything new before the 21st. Stuff that in no way whatsoever even *could* "spoil" the first playthrough lmao
I mean weapon types are cool but I wouldn't shit my pants over it, idk how you would in these souls games even with a boss weapon, like I can understand bosses but not weapons lol.
@@RLQFKthere is no fear. I clicked on this and paused it. I don’t want to see it until I have it in my hands. What’s absolutely nuts is how hostile or condescending people get about approaching the new content in their own way. Finding the new gear and tech is part of the experience I enjoy, and I don’t want to tarnish…that experience by seeing it before I can play it myself. So it “spoils” the experience of discovery. Not the lore or anything.
@@Spookdookin knowing the base moveset of a weapon type doesn't tarnish exploration at all, since there'll be several quirks-in-class as usual, also knowing the 8 new types names can't possibly spoil exploration in any way?? This is hyperbolic to the extreme.
I meanwhile made my first character with a motif based on Thor before just going for the Warborn/Vikings of For Honor (a game that I kind of suck at) as a whole. I already went through the Erdtree Burning and I really do hope I can step into the Land of Shadow despite that. No matter if I end up with a new ending relating to it or not (probably not), I want me those new weapons! Namely the Smithstone Hammer and Axe. TILL VAHALLA! WAAAAAGH!
Few things I noticed: -Perfume bottles can have ashes of war attached to them and seem to have stat requirments and scaling befitting the element. For example the Lightning bottle shown has C scaling in Dex and Faith. -Hand to Hand has very low stat requirements and can be ashed. -Smithscript Weapons seem to require a small investment into INT and FTH in order to wield, and can be ashed and infused. -Great Katanas are dex weapons that require a decent Strength investment to use, no different then curved greatswords. -The Flame Knight Greatsword has Faith Scaling next to its other stat requirements by default, and can still be infused and have it's ash switched out. This will make it an excellent weapon for STR/ FTH builds. -The light greatsword Milady has slightly higher Dex requirements then STR, meaning its a Dex weapon. I did hear there was a remeberence light greatsword that scales with INT/FTH though.
I love that the martial arts have Heihachi Mishima's up+forward 3, 4 kicks and then a tatsu. Them Tekken and Street Fighter builds are gonna go hard with those.
@@somersaultinggiraffe1901 I think From and Martin would need Bandai's permission for there to be a martial arts weapon based on Mishima Style Karate and Kazama Style Martial Arts if they want to go full Tekken.
@@opusmagnus26 DS1 had a Shoryuken fist weapon and DS2 had a full on Hadoken fist weapon. If Street fighter can be referenced then tekken is no exception.
@@somersaultinggiraffe1901 Good point. That, and Tekken is a Bandai property, right. So Tekken references in Elden Ring via the Martial Arts weapon class (assuming that Dryleaf Arts isn't the only one that exists) would be an inevitability.
So thankful to have a safe space to get hyped as fuck for the dlc without spoilers. Everywhere else just shoves the preview footage at you with no warning
Holy the light greatsword looked so fun. The set looks so fluid + that weapon art has a jump impaling thrust in it which is a personal favorite of mine on spears or halberds.
There's so much epic stuff to choose from that I can't imagine what I'm gonna do! Great katana, light greatsword, beast claws and martial arts all look awesome Backhanded swords, perfume bottles, throwing weapons and the dueling shield all look great too, but the former 4 all fit perfectly into what I already like
Dueling shield is actually a lot faster than anticipated. Short range but actually useable? I can see light greatswords will probably become the new meta though.
I can't wait to see all the new powers tanked movesets. Really hope there are more than one of each unpaired weapon type (I'd also like to see the one-hand movesets of all the paired weapons)
Very nice! Probably best to use a Vagabond save with even stats to try out everything first, then send in your specific builds afterward for efficient treasure hunts. This DLC will make build varieties skyrocket. What a great game.
All the new weapon types look amazing. At first I was extremely hyped for the bear claws and dryleaf arts - but now I'm very curious about the perfumer bottles as well. And the most interesting part is it doesn't require FP to use.
It seemed to me that the milady moveset looked unique to that sword, so chances are the more traditional light grwatswords we haven't seen yet will probably have different, more grounded movesets which will be epic
@@mickthick6170 Fingers crossed. Let me tell you, I didn't expect this much from the dlc. It never struck me that we'd get not just new weapon types and different movesets within them, but new weapons within the previous types with new movesets, and new ashes of war as well
Oh man, a lot of these new weapons are gonna be crazy dual wielded. Dual wielding in general in base game was crazy strong to the extent that the new backhanded blades will be at a big disadvantage unless their base AR is really high. I wonder if we get a nerf to dual wielding because of that 🤔
Those new weapontypes look super cool! Still a bit disappointed thet haven't added a kusarigama/chain-sickle (one of the weapons the Vulgar Militia use) though..
With how flashie the new move set look i really cant wait to see how the new sorcerie/incantation will look like ,so far all i have seen is the gravity ball that explode and the sleep wave in the trailer
Gonna use the dry leaf and a great axe for my "Son of Hoarah Lux" build I dropped it mid game cuz it didnt like the caestus moveset for it gonna fight papa axe to axe, fist to fist at last
As a ps curved sword enjoyer I was planning on using the reverse grip swords for even more edge but damb... That light greatsword moveset is hot af Also I wonder how viable the thrown weapons are in a melee playstyle lol
