whoever decided that Dameon Clarke was to voice Handsome Jack should get like, a bunch of gift baskets cause that was a bloody brilliant choice. also fun fact, the 'These pretzels suck' like wasn't scripted, that was Dameon Clarke adding it in.
I heard he grasped the character from the first audition they did and started ad libbing and changing lines all the time. Gearbox just gave him total freedom from there coz they were amazed at how good he was.
"The Warrior was practically a god! HOW?! HOW IN THE HELL DID YOU KILL MY WARRIOR?!" By standing underneath an archway for 5 minutes unloading all my ammo into it.
People say they want Morgan Freeman to nattate their life? I however would want Handsome Jack to fill that row ;) he'll insult me alot but I wouldn't care lol I would love every second of it!
His tone when he wants the peaple to stare at there freaking lungs as he ripps them out is fucking heavy and disturbing that is some strong words for a guy who betrayed his own friends the actor in real life would be crazy if you killed his family as you watch your lungs being ripped out of your chest lol
@@SubBubz But she did kill her mother from her overwhelming powers. Perhaps Jack enslaved her for that reason among others? Well, as well to power the vault key too. LOL.
God I could listen to this guy all day, it's just something about his voice is so uh how can explain this AH Handsome yeah totally something handsome about this guy.
They say any TV Show/Movie/Game is only as good as its villain... and Handsome Jack is THE absolute best villain I've ever come across. He's such a bastard but I absolutely love him.
I love Jack even though he killed my entire product line if I sound pleased about this its because my Programmers made this my default tone of voice I'm actually quite depressed
I love how diverse Dameon Clarke is in his voice acting. From Perfect Cell to Younger Toguro, to this. Honestly, until this year I didn't even realize this was Dameon Clarke, despite how much I played Borderlands 2.

18:50 am i the only one who actually wanted to show mercy to angel? I feel like a total weirdo being the only one outta my friends who still forgave and felt pity for Jack. (even after Roland)
I love when he talks about how he rips out a fathers eyes out right in front of his childeren and he’s just hysterical. Jack is easily the best “villain” ever.
I know I am a few years late, but that wasn't his humanity talking. Angel wasn't a daughter for him, only a vital asset to reach his goals. He wasn't crying for his kid, he was crying because of losing a precious object.
I just love how childish and desperate handsome jack gets when he is on danger or its watching something that he cant belive. That voice actor its gold to my ears
God its been years since i played Borderlands 2 and the speech from 27:29 onwards still gives me CHILLS. The emotion in that voice, the knowledge of all you and Handsome Jack have done to get to this point, it's almost terrifying... how can a video game make me cry with so little context
What about the one in The Wildlife Exploitation Preserve where he goes: 'Seriously why are you having me read this crap, they know we're gonna torture them why lie to them
"Funny thing? You wanna destroy a man, you don't need to kill 'em. You just need to kill what he loves." God, I love the foreshadowing behind that line. Jack acted like such a bastard before AND after the Vault Hunters killed Angel, but compared to how cocky and charismatic he was before, Angel's death really did destroy him. He became far more unhinged and psychotic, it's such an amazing piece of foreshadowing and karma. I love this game so much, especially Jack!
There were about 3 stages of character changes. Before the trap in sanctuary he’s all in control and playful. After his trap fails and learns Lilith is alive he gets pretty angry and desperate. Then of course after angel he becomes unhinged.
Handsome Jack is by far my favorite villain in any video games. He's just such an asshole, but he actually has a really tragic backstory. Oh, and he's also fucking hilarious.
uh, how would you know that? The universe is crazy big and keeps growing,. Heck, borderlands 3 states that civilized life exists in six galaxies. That's... not even half a percent, not even... one percent of a half precent. Basically, if you can imagine a more powerful being it exists somewhere, and I imagine emperoes of entire galactic empires. Jack is a small fry. Also, we killed him. Brutally.
tbh i think jack is still the true hero, he wanted to install colonies that could live free of pandora's monsters and violence, but he had no choice but kill off the bandits, they were a threat to everyone. ok he didn't exactly have to remove a poor man's eyeballs with a spoon to achieve that but that is due to his highly unstable background, in fact i think he held his sanity pretty well for everything he had to go trough, he could easily had been just another psycho on pandora or a cannibal vault hunter (looking at you, sal) but his ideals is was kept him relatively sane trough it all. look at opportunity, yes it was dictatorship but everyone had high class life too. it wasn't just some communism like we see IRL it was literaly the perfected version of it. (way better than pandora's wastelands full of psychos and aliens imo)
Wind Element in the presequel I say he was but after being betrayed by a lot of people he was changed and became a villain in all honesty you can count Lilith as the villain for the ps
Please don't make statements like that if you can't even apply basic freshman logic to it. Jack didn't just want to kill the bandits, he wanted to kill _everyone_ who didn't agree with his views and swore servitude. The bandits are literally milllions, killing them all would be a genocide dwarfing the holocaust many times over, and they became bandits because Dahl left them there with no way to earn a honest living. They know of no other life. If you wanna change things for the better, you get to the root of the problem, which in this case is a lack of a social structure and educational system that actually provides for the people. Crime becomes a last means of survival. Life under Jack's rule would have been one of oppression, because he doesn't value diversity and opposing points of views, his truth is the only one to him, because he's the "hero". He was willing to do anything to have his way and never opened the door to input from other parties. He could have tried to reason with Sanctuary, maybe stopped dealing out death sentences based on his own ideals. I mean ffs, he turned his daughter into something she never wanted to be (and that was before pre-sequel) and strangled a man for mentioning his wife. Heroes don't do that, self-obsessed tyrants does. As for the high class life you speak of, yeah, everyone who agreed to be his property, thralls to never question his decisions or be allowed to have any control. Would you wanna live such a life? When you demand that people surrender their freedom you are trying to make things out of them. Things that servers your ends. Pandora isn't great but it got potential to one day get better. People value their freedom and friends more than being inside a comfy cage where you are never treated as a person.
nope, before it was an Dahl mining and research colony, however when the creatures came out and slaughtered their guards by the dozens, if not more, so they pulled out their top level personnel and unlocked the gates on the mining camps, which used convict labor
27:55 Me and Handsome Jack can relate. We both pretend to be heroes when we really aren't, we both have deformed faces, and we both wear headware that covers our faces.
BL2 would still be an incredible game but it definitely wouldnt be my favorite game of all time if Handsome Jack werent made and Dameon Clarke werent casted for him. its such a perfect video game to me, the infinite replayability, the crushing and aweing atmosphere, the insane ambient breakbeat music, and the greatest villain of all time. just wow. what a one in a fucking trillion game man
