I believe that Val and Janel had real chemistry, just like Maks and Meryl. I wish one of the couples would have kept dating. In the end, Jenna made Val happier and Peta made Maks happier. Oh snap! 😐

Wow I just read an article where Val admits that he knew janel was catching feelings but he didn’t take the time to pull her aside to separate the personal from professional because he was so focused on trying to win so he just let the lines blur.
that's interesting because when i was watching this season, i got a vibe that she was into him and he wasn't but then he looked SO jealous after that burlesque with Artem that i wasn't sure. at the same time, it looked like he was acting so i was led to believe he was milking it to higher their chances of winning. guess i wasn't wrong!
He talks about it in his book saying that Janel fell in love with him but he didn’t want more than to just dance with her and win the mirrorball trophy, so he played on her affections and used it with the media hoping that would help their image and get the win. He says that he was too weak and stupid and trophy hungry to just tell her that he really didn’t want more. He sounds very remorseful and sorry about the whole thing and said that after that experience, he would never mix business with pleasure in regards to his partners ever again

sometimes they do this thing called “switch up” where the dancers switch partners for one week for a dance. i guess it’s just to see how well they can dance with someone other than their normal partner
