Lebron’s game winners are great but MJ’s game winners are definitely better. It’s no knock on Lebron. MJ’s game winners were mainly jumpshots taken in the face of closely contesting defenders, meaning the defensive sets were superb and did their job to stop ball penetration to the rim. So MJ deployed his clutch shooting greatness to do a better job than the defense. Most of Lebron’s game winners were layups at the rim. If a player is able to, in the very last seconds of a game, drive through the paint and score a layup at the rim to win a closely contested game, it means the defensive setup was poor. Good defenses do not give up layups at the rim especially layups that determine victory at the very end of the game.
