Attacks restored by Skawo, which has been made into a playable mod. Download the mod here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PG3MwHyRKFQ.html (Btw, I should mention that the dialog is made by the mod developer, it wasn't originally in the game!)
4:47 I really like that attack, because it gives some legitimate payoff to the armcannon that the smaller shots don't really get across to me. I really wanted to see it used in some really threatening capacity since Mettaton Neo back in the day.
7:16 This attack most certainly went unused because of its difficulty, I'm shocked that something this hard was considered for Chapter 2 I'm a really huge fan of the Kirby reference at 3:33, glad that was the dialogue for the attack that feels like Kirby Super Star's Heart of Nova
Toby had to try to communicate to other team members to get attacks in for Spamton NEO, he himself said it was difficult to get them to do the fight exactly in his vision since Toby had a really bad wrist during development so he couldn't program in attacks himself.
Shame a lot of these didn't make the final cut, there's many creative attacks and I would say none of them are unfair and if Toby thought they were too difficult he could just put them on Snowgrave and no one would complain.
if some attacks are just made a bit easier to deal with they could fit right in (like the one with the rotating columns and spamton heads i really like that attack)
I think Toby made the right call with alot of these attack: 1) A couple have bad design, either requiring a Big Shot (which none of Spamton's attack actually do) or overly punishing you for using the Big Shot (which Spamton's attacks on do sparingly) 2) A couple look straight unfair (that gun attack with the moving box definitely springs to mind) 3) One or two are out of theme (Like the one where Spamton disassembles himself) 4) And the rest just look... boring. Too easy or predictable to ever really deal damage.
3:38 THIS IS DEADUP A REFERENCE TO HEART OF NOVA/GALACTIC NOVA NUCLEUS OH MY GOD the paraphrasing of the Kirby's Adventure intro really sells the reference too, thank you mod maker very cool
[3:31] - This dialogue and the attack right after are amazing. I love the Spamton's Adventure reference in the dialogue and then the homage to Nova's final phase in Spamton Super Star.
I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone say anything about how spot on the dialogue is, this has to be the most faithful mod (dialogue wise) I've ever seen
2:49 Ok this dialogue is great, even if the setup is unbeliwvable 3:42 Yeah that would have been too hard of a similarity with the damned [Clown around town) 5:57 How could Toby design all that? 7:37 Truly amazing 9:03 Lore?
I can already imagine that when the full game is out one of the challenges will be a Boss Rush challenge. Where you fight every end chapter boss in a row without stopping and they have new attacks
Love how theres the nova reference from kirby and it makes sense since toby and sakurai are friends due to sans being in smash (also the fact that deltarune and undertale are on switch) would of been cool to see in the game
It's weird to me that Toby would consider another carousel attack for the secret boss. Was "THE WORLD REVOLVING" supposed to invoke this weird cylinder pattern?
These attacks are making me think originally you could fire normal and charge big shots faster originally, and it was slowed down along with the rest of the attacks to make the players not have to react as fast
The out of service elevator bit was funny but I really love the part before it: LEGS? KRIS AS YOUR [Medical Expert] SALESMAN I RECOMMEND [Skip Leg Day Memes]!
I hope we can get a boss rush mode of some kind at the end. Maybe a main boss rush mode (King, Queen, etc.) and maybe if you master that, a secret rush boss mode (Jevil, Spamton, etc) it would be hard as nails but I’d love to see everyone together like that…
not even just the battle itself, but the dialogue box and what spamton says inbetween moves, its so similar to what toby fox would actually write, it makes this subtly so much more impressive
7:14 I actually liked this. The secret boss of each chapter steals the battle style of the previous secret boss and at the end we see a battle style that is a mix of all the secret bosses. It could be nice.
Man, I'm glad Spamton's attacks weren't ever used. He's hard enough as it is. It's also really neat to see that some of these were used in A Different Snowgrave.
Why do I feel like there's going to be a secret boss rush/rematch in one of the later chapters that uses these (finished versions obviously)? Especially considering how absurdly hard almost all of them are.
Fun fact: There is a fangame called "a different snowgrave" where Spamton Neo(giant) uses some perks in the unused attacks, like red heads and red bombs and that attack with the heads closing and u have to shoot the heads to open
Yo a double Kirby reference at 3:31. Specifically what Spamton says is very similar to the intro of Kirby's Adventure, and the Attack is similar to the second Nova boss section in Kirby Super Star.
