seeing the dumbass inkling scream on the floor after losing made me so mad in 2015 i straight up ripped my tooth out. don’t know if it was a baby or not. i was one crazy mf
I think so far Splatoon 3 has helped because in Splatoon 2 if I lost I just got very upset but in three it makes me less angry and I’m calmer and congratulate the other team
@@grapejuice3943 Game showing your team's "lose" animation: "Well, what can you do? You did your best. Better luck next round!" Game showing the other team's "win" animation: "GET OUTTA HERE, SHITBAGS! THIS IS WHERE CHAMPIONS STAND! YOU DON'T MATTER! YOU DON'T EVEN EXIST! DON'T EVER SHOW YOUR STUPID FACES AROUND HERE AGAIN!"
The losing music in 3 really doesn't feel all that dramatic unlike Splat 1's which had the best effect of feeling a loss. But Splat 3's is still a banger
i have war flashbacks from splatoon 1 loss theme. its the nastiest most irritating thing you could hear after a losing the game, if anything it made me angrier than the actual loss
I loved the defeat music in Splatoon 1. It was a silver lining when losing that I got to hear it. Every time I lose in Splatoon 2 I expect to hear it just out of instinct, but am pulled out it and end up disappointed. Would be nice if you could just customize the defeat/win music.
Splatoon 1: "Your life is nothing, you serve zero purpose" Splatoon 2: 🖤💔Depression💔🖤 Spatoon 3: "That was an amazing killing spree... by the other team!"
Splatoon 1 feels like the team is blaming each other and fighting to see who has more fault Splatoon 2 is accepting defeat and being okay with it, but still being disappointed at the fact that your team lost Splatoon 3 is basically "Great work team! There's always a next time!" "Let's try that again ;D" "GGs"
@@uvuvwevwevweonyetenyevweug6314 YEESS THANK YOU. That’s exactly how it made me feel in the premiere. Like, I don’t want to seee the jackasses that just beat my team, I wanna see MY team.
Yesss hahah I'd love that tbh, I mean sure it would suck but I kinda love how in Splat 1 and somehwat in 2 it was a big ":(" moment whenever you lost. Kinda miss the losing animations too xV
Splat 1 : *absolute rage fills your body* Splat 2: "well shit we lost I guess we can get them next time" Splat 3:"Dude they won so cool but we can win another game next time gg"
I'm surprised at what wonders the splat 3 defeat music does for one's mood after a loss. It made me feel fine to keep playing without being angry and thats very important
@@Purple_Sloth Not seeing your team upset is honestly better as well. It basically tells you to be salty and upset, instead it feels more like 'damn, that could have been us'
@@SethAbercromby Honestly, I see it the opposite. It's that same feeling you get when you are at like a reward ceremony and you got absolutely nothing, while everyone else does a synconized anime dance on stage. Not so much a "that couldve been me" as much as "oh *brother."*
@@Purple_Sloth Different people different reactions basically. I feel better with 3's cuz it doesn't shove the loss further in my face making me think "Oh… that was bad & sad… yeah…". Seeing enemy team win reminds me of the goal of becoming good enough so I get the winning pose more often. It makes me think "GGs, good for them. They must've done something right/took opportunity in what my team did wrong; I'd improve if I can figure those out."
as someone who hasn’t played since Splatoon 1, the whole video I was like “ugh this is awful! a defeat theme isn’t a defeat theme if it sounds so bloody upbeat.” but then I realized that perhaps many of my overreactions to the loss of a game in my younger years (screaming, throwing things, attempting to break my Wii U in half) could have been avoided if the theme that played didn’t sound like it was simultaneously spitting in my face and trying to gut me every time. smart move, developers. respect.
@@eeeeggnog._.3's either sounds like a Congratulations to the teams for doing so well or a "Congratulations players, you managed to fail spectacularly" depending on your mood
2 was my favorite. Not a celebration of your failure like 3 and not brutally insulting like 1. Some sadness but telling you you can go and do it again.
Until you get dabbed on by someone that squidbagged you But, I see what you mean. Still makes me wonder if there's an unused loss theme somewhere in the files
In theory, yes one could get that feeling. But when you lose 12 times in a row in Anarchy (series) and have to *watch your rank points plummet by hundreds into the negative zone...* Yeah, it starts to sound less like "hey remember to have fun winning isn't everything" and more like "Hey, way to go you dumb bastard! Looking forward to the next hilarious, fumbling disaster!"
For some reason Splat 3's loss irritates me more than 2. Like seeing my guy go "Damn" isn't as irritating as watching the enemy team celebrate in your defeat
With me personally, the first two Splatoon games don't really let me keep my spirits high, whereas in 3's loss screen, it makes me want to wipe the smug grins off the enemies faces and makes it a lot more fun for me to move onto the next match
At first I wasn't sure what you meant, but I think I understand. They definitely did a good job with the losing theme for Splatoon 3 cuz it doesn't get me as mad / upset anymore. The other ones made me feel like a failure for losing, but this one at least just makes me feel like we'll do better next time. 😅
100% agreed. Wish you'd see a lose animation for your team if you lost while also showing a quick glimpse of the enemy team showing of their victory animation. The losing animatioms were always quite funny
Honestly? Splatoon 1's losing theme is my fav, even though the music angered me millions of times, It had a special place in my heart, it made you FEEL like you truly lost, it was an excellent bop to listen to tho, (Outside of playing splatoon) Splatoon 2? well...I mean...It kinda hit but not as much as splatoon 1, it kinda just sounds like a song you would play for a 24-hour studying video. Splatoon 3 is just a kick in the face IMO, basically just says: "Hey it's okay-! You tried your best!" which really doesn't help when losing a 100x battle, I want to KNOW I lost, not a gentle pat on the back to reassure me.
The splat 1 one just makes me feel like a failure, splat 2 just makes me think "eh better well next timw" and then splat 3 is just like "eh we did our best i guess"
I haven't played Splatoon 1 in years, or heard it's soundtrack in years. That defeat theme awoke serious flashbacks all the same. I think I hate it, it's like it exists to make you angry. I know the Wii U is borderline indestructible and all but maybe it's not a good idea to make someone want to chokeslam the pad. Really like the second game's loss theme though, it just dissolves any salt you may have had. I just jive with it, it's a good bop. Melancholy, but fairly respectful, it works well given the more refined and less childish reactions of the new kids on the block, the Octolings when they lose as opposed to Inklings usually absolutely losing their shit like toddlers who were told they couldn't have McDonalds for tea. And honestly, the third one isn't quite as good, but it's alright. Could be worse.
Splatoon 1: BAD ENDING “GET BETTER AT THE GAME, YOU’RE THE WROST, ETC” Splatoon 2: GOOD ENDING Somber yet encouraging, you know you lost, but you can always try again ❤️ Splat on Splatoon 3: NEUTRAL ENDING Admitting defeat doesn’t mean that the game is over, just next time you’ll try again but with experience.
1 feels absolutely devastating 2 just feels sad 3 puts the focus entirely on the winning team, which I think makes losing have less of a negative impact
Splatoon 2s makes me want to cry while Splatoon 3s increases my salt and toxicity level at the same time If I see a whole squad of people dabbing on my broken rank I will throw my controller
I love how Splatoon 3's defeat music is actually fun and doesn't make the player feel bad!! it makes losing less frustrating and makes me wanna try again
The start of Splat 2's defeat music fooled me into thinking it was gonna be just like Splat 1 when I first heard it. Splat 3 just makes me want to try harder, but also happy for the winning team
How Splatoon 3 conveys both music and animation when removing the ones when you lose is something else, I'd say-both normal and Splatfest versions. 0:57 Also, ignoring the roller that is just laid on the far left there.
Here’s the thing with splatoon 3’s theme. It has a really chill theme for loss compared to the other two but losing by less then a percent and watching the other time dance is perhaps the most mad I have ever been at a game.
Splatoon 1’s is the embodiment of sadness/anger Spaltoon 2’s is the embodiment of depression And Splatoon 3 tries to make it seem like you didn’t lose to make you feel better
Sploon1 was the epitome of salty, it got me legitimately mad Sploon2 was very chill, it just made me sigh and go on with my day Sploon3 got me saying a sarcastic “good for you”
I like splatoon 3's approach the best. It turn somethign negative into something more positive, channel that loss, learn from your mistake to win next time kind of vibe. It's much more healthy. And for having to see the team dance, its dirve you to be like "i wanna be the one shown there! So ill try harder next time". It can become unhealthy after several loss in a row but the base of it is being more encouraging in its own way
Splatoon 1's is like, that staredown at your enemy wanting to rip their soul out. Splatoon 2's is a Mellow 'bummer...' Splatoon 3's is 'Hey, we tried, we'll do better next time. I prefer 2 to be honest. I like the mellow sound...
i completely respect that they made it upbeat to like, lessen the blow of losing, but like. damn i dont want to be pat on the head like “good job champ!!! you gave it your best!!!!!”
God I always despised the splat 1 lose theme. It always made me feel like the game was laughing at me and I would lose my shit every time. Granted, I was like 9 but still
Thank you, this video is really helpful for players who have never lost a single game since Splatoon 1. It's nice to know what the defeat songs sound like now!
Splatoon 3's watching the enemy team vibe makes me so much more wholesome and calm after a loss. Like I HATE the losing music and it genuinely always soured my mood, couldn't skip past it. 3 tho we all just vibin so, Idk how people think this is worse than having to sit through that awful momentum killing sounds, I'mma call em high for that.
Splatoon 1’s defeat soundtrack is something I’d search up on RU-vid for giggles, but I’m glad that I get to listen to Splatoon 3 version if I get defeated. Helps ease my mind after a hard fought battle that didn’t go my way 😅
Not a fan of the losing music being removed in favor of the other team celebrating in your face instead. Splatoon 1 was my favorite because it felt (and looked) like the game, your inkling, and the inklings on your team were just as pissed as you that you lost. Splatoon 3s whole “YAAAY be happy for the other team because they won yaaaay!!! :D Congratulations other team! You beat me! yAAAAy” just annoys me. It looks like they’re taunting you. I don’t care that they won, I only care that we lost. Maybe I just love competing a lot, idk.
