Great video, it's great to see what kind of elevator's you have across the pond in the US. Hydro elevators aren't really common here in the UK as far as I'm aware, we mostly have traction ones. What type do you prefer Traction or Hydro? Happy New Year, Hope this year is a much better one for us all 👌
Glad you enjoyed this tour! Hydraulics are very common over here, though we are starting to see more traction on newer installs. It really depends on the elevator for what I prefer. I really love old traction systems, but the old rotary rotaflow hydraulics are awesome as well.
@@stlelevators I've only ever Ridden three Hydraulic elevator's, a Dover Impulse at the hotel we stayed on our holidays to Orlando in 2010, 2015 and 2019, however in 2019, they'd been modded by Thyssenkrupp and had different fixtures, and 2 old glass Otis ones in my local town centre, 1 of which was when I was a kid/teenager and no longer exists, the other one is currently out of service, I'm assuming due to Covid. We also have some old Otis Traction elevators in the town centre too, they're quite fast and are still mostly original, the only mod they added was a separate COP panel that features voice to make them compliant with latest regulations, but all the original fixtures are still there and work, they'd have been installed in the late 80's before I was even born. Yeah I can understand what you mean about it depends on the elevator, I like elevators and love watching vids of them that enthusiasts like yourself make, even though I'm not an elevator enthusiast myself and don't know loads about them 👍 Otis elevators are my favourite👌 What elevator manufacturer is your favourite? 😁
Cool! I’m looking forward to this! Mind me asking, what about the Roanoke Station Garage with the Black Button Dover? Is it defunct? broken? Or ripped out?
That’s a darn shame. It really seemed like a nice elevator. Hopefully if ThyssenKrupp modernizes it, they can give you parts for it like what they did at Elmwood. If it happens though.
@@stlelevators And maybe sometime with you, Andrew , Aaron and Evan. Also, I had this dream that I was with you guys especially at the elmwood parking garage and it happened that morning on June 9, last year of 2021. And I was happy to have that good ol dream.
Not quite. Some old elevator filmers who filmed those garages before the modernization of those elevators knew that was going to happen. At least the Elmwood Garage kept the old US bell lanterns during the modernization.
Elmwood doesn't how to do this because what is not going to do anything because it will be the elevator will be destroyed and the whole garage with be destroyed the park car lots not rest of the parking lot every
That is unfortunate that the Roanoke station (carpark) garage elevator is now defunct. I have heard that the condition and security of the entire garage is poor.
It's basically the same idea as an overhead traction, but instead of the motor being on the top, it is on the bottom floor off to the side. The roping is a bit different on them as well.
@@stlelevators it’s 30 years old now but I’ve seen lots of 30 year old elevators in much better shape than that I really like old Dovers but they could’ve kept the market garage elevator in better shape
Jason, I also wish you were on yo gabba gabba on the same episode in which Andrew teaches the gabba’s about elevators only you Jason will be a new dancey dance friend to teach the gabba’s a new dancey dance
10:14 It’s very hard to keep those impulse HIGHdraulics full of oil because the packing seals and power units tend to leak. The fact that a parking deck is able to keep it not low on oil most of the time is kind of an accomplishment because every other Dover HIGHdraulic elevator I’ve ridden was a varying degree of low on oil
