All Our Horses Are Lame? Day 215 (08/04/20) 

Laura: “Gabby is hoping to take Chino or Finn in a couple weeks to do something she has always wanted to do.” Storm: ease dropping on the conversation-“She what? She isn’t taking me?! I thought I was going to go! Gabby is my girl. Huh. I must devise a plan to change this.” A few hours later... Storm: “Come on boys I am going to bite your butts and take you on an escapade to get you both lame so I can go!!” Mission accomplished Storm. 🤣🤣

Just a tip Laura. If you are really done with the horse attitude you should ask one of your trainers to do a lesson on groundwork. It makes a HUGE difference. Your horses will respect you more. And it will be useful for every horse you handle.

Laura, I wish you'd go to the doctor. If all the home remedies haven't helped your hearing, then something more serious might be going on. If the sinus pills that the pharmacists said to try doesn't help in a day or so... Please see a doctor. Much love , prayers, sweet girl

You should get round pen gates then put them in the back of the arena for little stalls for the ponies for feeding!!!! Then when you have too you can fence off parts of the arena on rainy days so they can all stay oit

OMG I think I finally made it to a vlog in time! Normally it's 3 35 AM for me when you post your videos, it's 6 13 now when I'm writing this. That's why I don't normally post comments in your vlogs cuz when I would have posted them you would have not seen them, but today I made it! Maybe you should start using horse boots for jumping...

I’ve been doing courses on horse hoof confirmation and they’ve been getting slow Mo videos to see how the horses land on their feet and the pattern of swing, you should try that with Chino and see where he’s landing on his hoof and how his foot is working in swing and stance phase. Maybe work with your Ferrier and see what he thinks about how chino lands I’ve done some courses on the FEI campus online and they have videos on it definitely recommend checking it out

I can fully understand your dilemma about Chino. Bruising can sometimes take a while, or you think your horse is ok one day and then lame the next and that carries on for a while. Other than x rays and possibly nerve blocking etc I’m not sure what else your vet could do, other than from your point of view, it may give you some peace of mind to have him look again and if that makes you feel more comfortable, then there’s no reason why you shouldn’t contact them 😊 I’m glad to see you put them out again, lots of grass there to occupy them and definitely a good idea to walk your fence lines regularly to check for any damage etc. I’m not quite sure how your electric fencing is hooked up, but that is a lot of electric fencing to check that it’s all working, keep you fit though 😂 another thought I had was, perhaps make where you have the 3 paddocks in to 2 for the rest of the summer, it will give them a bit more room, just a thought 😊 As you only have the one shelter, if you could move it slightly ( not sure if that’s possible), you might be able to section off your paddocks so that they could have access to it from both paddocks nearest you, as there’s shade in the furthest one and the new one you’ve created, using electric fencing ( if that makes any sense ), just moving it as necessary. One more thought, if you think Storm really doesn’t like getting wet, put a light rain sheet on him if the forecast is rain and it’s not too hot, he’s such a diva 🤣 Finn didn’t look too bad, if you think he slipped over, it might be that’s how he got his injuries, as he went through the fence 😟

Love y’all, can’t wait to see your new horse, and I can’t wait to see the horses running free in the paddock, also not surprised if their all lame they had a good run the other day, but I think mainly Finn or Storm but I do think Storm had a good go at it😂I love the long videos also. With the vaccine it’s age and dosages with larger dogs they need a larger dosage and a puppy could become overwhelmed especially if she already got some.

I would also like to suggest soaking Chino's feet in fairly warm water and epsom salts. Extremely good for bruising. They are probably all stiff and sore from their great escape. Stretching and light exercise would probably do them some good. Also untill you put better footing in maybe the farrier could suggest some form of shoeing that raises the frog a little bit higher off the ground so it doesn't strike quite so hard.

I definitely think chino is lame and Finn might be slightly lame but I think Storm won’t be lame and this was all part of his plan to show you guys how amazing he is and that it’s his time to shine🤩 Edit: Woah I actually got it right😳 but I definitely think Storm purposely made the other boys lame so he could get all the riding attention😅

I agree about not being able to go into the vets, our cat is old and sick and it's so hard to figure things out from the car. I hope that changes soon.

I’m actually Almost crying because I hate when your horses are lame because you guys have the best horses but you guys take really really good care of them so that’s good love you guys all my heart

One of my horses like a month ago was lame. He pulled a muscle or something while running in the feild. He's fine now. For Finn a cut like that on his leg I think he'll be fine I use swat to put around it so bugs don't infect it.

Laura haul Chino to the Vet and get X rays. Period. You can hope and prayer he will be sound in a few weeks and if not, then you take him in and more time has been passed. Now a days they have injection for heal pain. Also they use stem cells in horses for lameness just like the stem cells in my knee. Helped a bunch. A good Veterinarian is s horses best freind. I can’t wait for it to start going down to the 70’s in Delaware because all summer it’s only been 80’s-100’s and I’m over it it’s so hard to ride in it because breeches aren’t the thinnest so it’s just a sweaty catastrophe but its ending soon so gotta be happy for that

im so sorry about your ears! a few years ago i went swimming and ended up getting water stuck in my ears that was blocking the wax from coming out and i couldnt hear for close to two weeks. once i went to an ear doctor he flushed everything out and it worked super well for me. if you can i would recommend seeing someone. i hope this helps you!

After 11 years of riding I got a horse 🐴!!! Her name is Penny and she is a 15ish hand 6 year old chestnut thoroughbred 😁

If your farrier thinks its bruising then i would trust him , they are amazing, knowledgeable people. they will know whats causing lameness because of the way the horse is wearing its feet.

Just a suggestion but you could take horses to the water say twice a week it would be good for them if ur can’t ride them xxxx

I was in a situation like yours with one of my horses. He had BAD bruising and was barefoot we put shoes on him to help it. And the farrier said they should help with in 2 weeks so we waited almost a month and was still lame so the vet came and did all the flexion and lameness exams and he looked the same so he thought it might still be the bruises too but then said at a month it should have grown out enough to be better and it was not. So he recommended xrays and we did it and found out he is Navicular in his front right. And the coffin bone in his hoof is what was causing the bruising cause the coffin bone was rotating and putting pressure on his sole. we had him at a friends place and we brought him back home because the vet said it may have been caused by jumping on hard uneven ground. So I don’t jump anymore unless I’m in a well groomed arena

laura look up what wax candling is. it basically brings all the wax that is in or stuck in your ear and puts it in a tube, its pretty cool!!

If Chino doesn't have a pad with his shoes you might try packing and wrapping his feet after he works. Magic Cushion works for me. Draws out soreness and might help heal the bruising in his feet. Just a thought.

maybe you have a middle ear infection and if your eyes are affected it could be sinus press your cheeks see if they are tender and pop along to the docter i would beef up the fence line even if it looks ok horses will push through bushes no matter how thorny if they think they are going to do a runner finn is a little lame chino could be a little freer in movement ps/ we got the snow the neighbours and i were up at 2 in the morning playing in it short vid available feel free to check it out

Hey Laura you should try ear candles they are pretty beneficial however if they don’t work at least you know then!

Laura use wax candles me and my family use them and basically what they do is as the candle burns out it melts and sucks up the wax from inside your ears and after it has cooled you can actually open it up and see what has come out your ears and even though it sounds simple it works wonders their amazing

Laura, go to the doctor.. they may be able to pull the wax out. They did that for my son. And oddly, when I thought I had plugged ears from a cold, they pulled cotton out of my ears from using cotton swabs!

Hi I just wanted to tell you when my horse was lame with bruising on her hoof it took 8 weeks to get better and then it happened again a month later and this time it took about 10 weeks to get better🐎. At the time of the second bruised hoof she was it full time work and I was giving her biotin plus after and she has now been bruise free for a year now. I think Finn is only sore from running on the road and a few days he will be fine as he is a strong horse.

***LAURA be careful with your ears. I did all you have said with my ears, water blasting and olive oil and I think i gave myself tinnitus or caused wax to go deep in my ear....try youtube videos eustacian tube dysfunction exercises or clogged ear exercises. I recommend doctor which I have not done

Chino looked pretty good on the lunge, in another week he might be OK. Maybe leave him in his scoot boots out in the paddock in case he is walking on rocks

Laura .I have the same problem with my ears like u do.one take a shower point the water to your ears . Plus take a hairdryer to ears. If that doesn't work you need to go to war and nose doctor they car pull the ear wax out or give you shot you could have fluid in your ears I lost my hearing for 6 months please have a doctor check you thank you

Maybe you should try a second opinion from a different vet. Wouldn’t hurt and they may find something else the first vet didn’t.

If that does not work try an elephant squirter what you do is you put it in your ear and the water clean’s your ear and wax for fall out
