I am happy my oldest who is in first grade was able to see them twice this year the second time she just saw them last week for a field trip now she has a stuffed animal panda is too cute
Oh no, I lived in Edinburgh from 2017 to 2021, & Edi Zoo was one of my favourite places to go as I love animals and Edi Zoo is reasonably priced unlike London Zoo (where I’m from and live now)… The Pandas were one of my favourite exhibits, I remember watching the “Panda Cam” when the Panda was pregnant, and then she gave birth, beautiful. So a real shame.
Not sure why they didn’t mention Ya Ya, another panda returned to China last year because of starvation and mistreatment. That’s one of the main reasons why people from China want all pandas to come home. Easy to find out on RU-vid.
All pandas were on loan from China including their offspring. Well miss them but hopefully they’ll be able to go somewhere closer to natural habitats. Obviously the pandas were supposed to go back three years ago so they let them stay an extra three years to properly care for their little one until it was old enough to transport safely. Shows that overall they are a cared for species by all involved.
I saw the ones at Zoo Atlanta (the last ones left) back in 2018 but I almost want to go again to see them one last time before they’re all gone for good.. But I also don’t get why they didn’t just let them live their lives here and then just not bring anymore here to the US after that if China does t want to rather than putting them under the stress of heading on a long flight.
The panda's are not going because of tensions with China. It's because of the horrific condition of YaYa and LeLe pandas at the Memphis Zoo! For a full year people kept begging the Zoo to do something about both panda's skin condition and starvation! Memphis was actually asking people to bring their bamboo to the zoo to feed them! They wanted free bamboo instead of paying to get the right bamboo in from China!. Poor LeLe lost his life just weeks before he was to return to China. We all saw him die on camera and yet the zoo took nearly a hour to check on him even though people were calling them LeLe had a seizure, went down and was not getting up. China sent people to Memphis to prepare YaYa's move to China and brought bamboo. Today YaYa's skin condition has cleared up, she has gained weight and looks great! Memphis claimed they couldn't do anything about the condition. So don't blame Biden for some made up tension with China. Blame Memphis Zoo for their neglect and abuse and death of LeLe and YaYa's near death from incompetence.
@@tvil8Have you researched about China’s panda sanctuaries? I suggest you educate yourself first before spewing out prejudices. And if you’re just talking about how Chinese people live, let me tell you, most American cities, towns, and neighborhoods are way way behind in terms of infrastructure, transport mobility, and urban convenience. Have you seen a high-speed train in America? None. China has lots of them. The place you live in for sure would look like a backwater compared to a Chinese city.
China should refrain from sending pandas to countries with hostile relations, especially when the well-being of pandas like Ya Ya at the Tennessee zoo is in jeopardy. Fortunately, a recently released video shows a significant improvement in Ya Ya's health after her return to the Beijing Zoo.
Memphis Zoo abused Le Le to death and Ya Ya. Smithsonian National Zoo at Washington neglected Mei Xiang and artificially inseminated her 18 times! When Mei Xiang was in old age, National Zoo still proceeded to inseminate her and put her at risk of death. US Zoos aren't capable of properly taking care of these beloved creatures! Return and let these giant pandas retire with peace.
MY QUESTION TO YOU IS: WHY? WHY HAVE THE PANDAS HERE IF THE KEEPERS ARE SOOOO BAD TO THEM? ...IF THEY'RE CHINA'S PANDAS, WHY ARE WE HAVING THEM HERE? SHOULDN'T THEY BORN IN CHINA INSTEAD??? THEIR KEEPERS GIVE THEM THEIR LOVE & CARE....THEY ARE NOT CHINA'S PANDAS. ..THEY'RE AMERICA'S PANDAS, AND THEY BELONG HERE. NOT IN CHINA! 🇺🇸
Hey there! so I can’t say anything about Memphis as I’ve never been, but mei was actually very well treated. Heck, she’s one of the oldest pandas alive right now. Plus, her and tian both had a full mating season and the national zoo was instructed to try and get mei pregnant by their Chinese colleagues. They are in close contact with Chinese experts and the one at the zoo said she was fine to do so.
not only the pandas, you also got cheap stuff in you local wallmart and more bilionaires that dont want to pay taxes by exploiting bilions of chinese hard workers for cheap labor.
@@tl1533 exactly, this is how capitalism works. but as americans are now finding out, the only ones that really profit from exploiting labor overseas is the already rich billionaires. And btw im not chinese.
@@tl1533Chinese are getting rich 100%, because they are hardworking, & the most important reason is NO SINGLE WAR FOR LAST 40 YEARS! money well spent on citizens!
There are many foreigners who speak Mandarin in China, including African for trading. In Shanghai, it's normal to hear foreigner speaking Mandarin, it's kinda like showing off their language skills 😅
@@甜甜圈-b1w Not really. Native Americans came here from across the pacific and through the Bering strait, so they are no more indigenous to this area than anyone else. They have just been here longer.
@@Waya420they’re doing it because of what happened to YaYa and LeLe in Memphis Zoo. YaYa looks a lot healthier now that she’s in China in a recent video compared to her days in the USA. And no they did not replace her with another Panda because all Pandas are documented and tagged so there is no way to replace one with another as there’s already so few of them.
If American zoo cannot managed to keep all of the pandas and the zoo is poor at management , Those panda better to be sent back home So the Memphis Zoo panda incident won’t be repeated
@@ANPC-pi9vuthen why does Ya Ya look so much healthier now that she’s in China? Please tell me why. She was malnourished and neglected which is why her skin condition worsened and went untreated until she went back to China.

While some lament that their children may never see pandas up close again, most lament that they can't even afford Panda Express (or any food, for that matter) to feed their starving children.
You sound bitter. What were you expecting, they are not clowns for your entertainment. Only having the luck of at least being able to see them you should be more appreciative. I wish I had the chance instead of it being wasted on you.
@@vaderladyl I don’t think ”bitter” is right, more like “jaded.” Everyone in my group felt the same. There were hot, crying children and terse ushers who constantly warned about penalties for photographing or even stopping in the line to look. You had to keep moving in a constant stream to allow everyone to see them in a tiny enclosure as they clung to artificial trees. Certainly didn’t expect them to perform or anything, but the one on display looked terribly forlorn. It was just sad. But having seen them in person and (much more and for longer) on video, I can tell you that video is far better. Admittedly, this was at least thirty years ago when there were far fewer of them. The viewing experience in recent years probably far outshines what I experienced.
Pandas have been an endangered and protected species for a while, in part due to the fact that they don't procreate often. The Chinese government raises pandas like these as part of its conservation efforts.
But its not really click bait. The San Diego zoo sent their pandas back a few years ago. Memphis already sent their panda back earlier this year. DC is sending theirs back now. And the Atlanta zoo has to send theirs back in early 2024. So yeah all pandas in US zoos are or have gone home. By the end of 2024 there will no longer be any pandas on US soil.
Although not all American zoos are as evil as the Memphis Zoo (we also saw many kind Americans in the Yaya incident helping to rescue Yaya so that Yaya can return to China smoothly, and we Chinese are grateful that these kind ordinary Americans can voice justice), I still firmly believe that sending pandas to the United States is a crime and shame that the Chinese government cannot erase, and I hope that our Chinese government will listen to the voice of the Chinese people and stop sending pandas to the United States after the Yaya incident is exposed. Animals should not be sacrificed for the political interests of humans, they are equal creatures on the earth like humans, they need the respect and love of humans, and they deserve careful protection in their own homeland. After all, we only have one Earth, and we should protect the Earth, not go around fighting wars and destroying the Earth like the evil U.S. government. The United States has good people, but the U.S. government will always wage bloody wars on the earth for money, slaughtering people in other countries, destroying the local ecological environment, and harming innocent animals.
As an american citizen, you are correct that we have been brutal colonizers, horrid to ethnic minorities, and destroyed parts of our environment. However, Chinese history shows the exact same things about China. You are horrid polluters, poach animals I'm other countries and your own to extinction, are colonizers and terrible to many non-Han groups. Neither country has a good track record and both should do much better. You have to have the freedom to criticize your leaders in order to make changes. Chinese have already long ago lost this freedom, and sadly it is being lost in America as well.
How are you even posting on here? This platform is banned in China. Also, wow, a pair of elderly pandas were dying of old age, how shocking. That could never happen in China! In China Pandas just live forever! /sarcasm
@@tl1533 Actually, is America lost money 💰 Or The United States is so poor that it can’t even afford to raise three pandas🐼. It has nothing to eat and it abuses them.
In order to display pandas in a zoo, the zoo must agree to pay $1 million per year to "rent" the pandas and send all babies born in said zoo back to China. Furthermore, China recalled the giant pandas from San Diego Zoo before the Memphis incident, back during the trade war under Trump (in April of 2019). After a panda died in Memphis earlier this year, their other panda was recalled to China. Now, the pandas in Atlanta and DC are being recalled, as well. It's probably related to tensions between the two nations, but it could also have something to do with the costs to zoos who's funding was likely hit hard during the pandemic. As much as I adore giant pandas, I'd rather see them in zoos under better contracts. The ones currently in use drain funds away from caring for animals the zoos can own. As cute as giant pandas are, they shouldn't be a proverbial cash cow or "carrot and stick". I just hope they continue to be cared for in China despite the economic issues looming worldwide.
Not quite right. We been fighting for YaYa and LeLe for nearly 2 years. We watched them on live streaming suffering with skin conditions and starvation. Even singer Billie Ilsh was begging for China to come get them. China finally decided to come get them Feb/Mar this year but 2 weeks before they were to come LeLe stroked out and died. In days China's vets were here. YaYa has no skin condition any more and has gained a ton of weight. Many of the pandas that recently returned the lease was not up. But zoo's agreed to let China have them.
Glad the pandas were thriving & happy in Washington DC, unlike poor YaYa (underweight) & LeLe (died) in Memphis. It’s too bad pandas must live in captivity because they face extinction in the wild due to China’s overpopulation.
@@Maspets I personally don’t feel suspicious. I believe the public statements of China representatives & Memphis representatives about Yaya’s genetic disorder and Lele’s fatal heart condition. But many people in the international community are suspicious, therefore I think that warrants more transparency about health records that legitimize what happened. The panda exchange is a public diplomatic program for world perception of relations with China. We should maintain a cooperative attitude and good relations.
“What is happening now is part of the plan.” What is the plan lady? You never said what the plan is so why would people not think it’s due to tensions with China????
They finally went back home. It was heartbreaking to see them having insufficient food and Xiao Qi Ji was so afraid of the zoo keepers when they approached him. Hope that they are going to meet loving zoo keepers in China and we look forward to seeing more videos about them after the one month quarantine
They were fed well, in the afternoon if you checked the cam (eastern time, US) you would probably catch them eating for hours. Qi Ji and all the others loved training with their keepers and actually usually are lured away when they have to do work to reduce potential risks. When Qi Ji was a cub, he would latch onto keeper’s legs like the ones in China.
@@kyorkyong5360no, pandas are actual literally stupid. They struggle to procreate cause they don’t know how. China literally shows panda panda p0#n to help them figure out what they have to do. Pandas simply don’t know how to survive and would go extinct even if there was never human interference
@@MaspetsMemphis Zoo shows you that Ya Ya and Le Le were very malnourished and uncared for. As soon as Ya Ya went back to China, her conditions have improved a lot and her skin and fur look a lot better than it did when she was here in the USA..
It's stupid to pay the CCP to rent pandas from them anyhow. There's plenty of other endangered species that those resources could be put towards saving.
