well, he's a totally different boss in his second phase, other boss's second phases usually add more moves and keep some, but maliketh doesn't have a single move that resembles his first phase

Rykard didn’t realize who’s really running the show until he can no longer realize it

In a sense, both the serpent and Rykard got what they wanted - a win-win situation. If I recall, Rykard wanted to be one with the Serpent as a method of immortality on top of being able to join forces with an entity that could rival the Erdtree. Another thing to consider is that the serpent was the size of a normal python when it ate Rykard. The Great Serpent's power seems very much based in its immortality and ability to grow. Give it long enough, and it would theoretically surpass the other deific beings of Elden Ring. Rykard was basically a growth pill, and what he got in exchange was immortality. It does beg the question whether the trade was really worth it, especially considering Rykard's... less than fragile mental state, but they did both get exactly what they wanted. Hurray for symbiosis?

Yup. Mechanically this makes a lot of sense too, both have immense resistance to Holy, but while the Elden Beast does almost nothing *but* Holy damage, Chadagon's got some non-Holy in a lot of his moves. So he can punch through EB's defenses easier.

@@Dranikos yeah but lorewise he could never turn against the greater will, the entire plot was machinated because marika/radagon themselves were powerless against the elden beast. even at this point where they are just a fractured, crumbling zombie they're forced to fight against the player tarnished.

After watching that last fight I really really REALLY want a radagon spear incantation, flying into the air for a second to wiz a holy beam at high speeds 🥵

It's likely because, while both of them have crazy high holy damage resist, Radagon actually mixes up physical and holy attacks fairly evenly while Elden Beast spams holy attacks and rarely actually swings its physical attack sword for normal attacking (almost every attack it does using the sword is to spam more holy attacks). You can just facetank Elden Beast and beat it with very little effort with Divine Lord's Fortification, but that won't save you so hard if you try that on Radagon (it helps, but not against those hammer smacks to the face).

he even killed it with the damn teleport. God I hate the teleport.

@@joshuakim5240 It's a very funny fight to watch because they both do lots of holy damage but are also both borderline immune to holy damage, so they're just throwing completely useless attacks at each other a lot of the time.

I still firmly believe that Malenia was originally meant to be a sekiro boss that Miyazaki decided to port straight to elden ring without even reworking sekiro's moveset to fit in elden ring

Radagon is extremely resistant to holy damage, and well Elden Beast deals mainly holy damage. That's where Elden Beast's trouble comes in

Others prefer to use weapons in a fight because it gives them better chance of winning and/or surviving. Godfrey prefers to use a weapon because otherwise he would win too soon for him to enjoy the thrill of the fight

+10 runebear can do it. It’s honestly just her scarlet aeonia she starts off with that deals the buffed rot effect. If she misses that, the contender normally gets a way better chance at beating her.
