Kanto or Johto tho 💀 I appreciate the upload but it'd be nice if you could fix them as "Kanto-based games" and "Johto-based games". Because these regions don't have their own league, and both regions E4 are at Indigo Plateau.
What's worse is that we're also now just a single generation (i.e., about 3 years or so, give or take) away from there having been more generations after 5 than before (5 after vs 4 before)
gen 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8: welcome to the pokemon league, your last challenge before facing the champion gen 5, 7, 9: welcome to the pokemon league, now get away
@@Sp3ctralI they like those gens so they act like theyre special when theyre really not. The musics tonally really the same in all of them. Theyre all tense with moments of fun energy sprinkled in.
1, 2 and 4 were sadly reuses of the gym leader theme. not too bad in 1 and 2 since it was the early bit. but imo 4 does not have this excuse after 3 used a unique theme, and 4 just sped up the gym leader version a bit
When I think Elite 4, I think Hoenn. It really set the stage for a climactic struggle to the champion. It's opening is intimidating, the strings going up and down add a chaotic feel to it, but when the clapping part comes, it feels hopeful. It's really just the perfect theme.
It's so nice to have an Elite Four again in Gen 9. And compared to previous generations, we even got to meet them a little more in-depth. They felt like more fleshed out characters than before.
@@EmissaryOfSmeagol Well Alola was a baby E4 since it was the first Alola league, and Galar didn’t have a E4 since it was kinda just a 8-9 people tournament and you just kinda battled 4 to reach Leon so there wasn’t really a E4 there
@@urielhernandez4319 I liked Alola's E4, I don't think the fact that their roles were new negatively impacted them. And they had just as much, if not more establishment in the plot before you fight them in that role than the Paldean E4 (even the golfer girl gets foreshadowed if you talk to NPCs in the resort).
@@LoudWaffle Oh I agree on it being a good E4, but the Alola league isn’t formed until like half way through your journey, so unlike other regions where the E4 has been a status of power for years.. Alola just selected specific people for their current roles instead of holding some kind of trial to determine who would be the E4. And that made the League so easy to beat because at that point you counter every single one of the members except the Golfer but flying types are naturally easy to counter
The Paldean League in general was a bag of stress; between the interview and the battlefield straight out of “The Cube”, I think the theme here was a perfect fit.
One of the coolest things about Gen 2 is seeing people from Gen 1 get promoted. Koga went from Gym Leader to E4 and his daughter became the new Poison Leader. A few others polished up, like Blue becoming a Gym Leader, etc (poor Blaine lost his everything). It's also cool to see it in Ruby/Sapphire to Emerald, and Iris in Black/White to Black/White 2, etc.
A crossover they should have thought of would have been making the other leaders part of the Elite Four. The Sword E4 would be Bede, Alister, Melody, and Raihan.
My kids are getting into Pokémon and I can’t wait for them to feel the pain of the elite four. Also when they beat the game I’ll laugh and then tell them how can the be a champion when they’ve never defeated me.
I love that Bruno's here twice. He just keeps coming back, present for the first five generations, and returning in Let's Go, meaning the only gens he's not in are 6, 8 and 9
The original elite four music is so good. Funny story, as a 7 year old I read that “if you lose you have to start all over” and thought that meant from the beginning of the game so I said goodbye to all my Pokémon just in case. After you win and beat the champion, you’re still sent back home so I thought the game glitched out anyway LMAO
When I was little and I played black for the first time I thought it was game over if you lose to N. I thought there’d be an alternate ending where you had to release all your Pokémon. Alder asks you to take the light stone and you’ll battle N if N defeats Alder. If you push no then he says “so you’re just going to let N separate pokemon from people?” I lost to Ghetsis so many times so when I beat the game I checked if all my Pokémon were still there. 😂😂😂😂
I've completely forgotten Gen 8's elite four and their theme. Gen 9's however really took a step up. They were so fun to watch and interact with each other for one.
How the time flies 🥲 Silver was my introduction to Pokemon although I was pretty bad at it my first time around and only played casually lol Hoenn League was actually the first one I successfully passed and really that was the generation that I always will have the strongest nostalgia for because that's when I started to play seriously and battle my friends. Gen 3 will forever be my favorite because of it 😁
Gen 3 Hoenn one will still hold a special place in my heart for the nostalgia alone and how bangin it is, but man, gen 5 and 7 really came to play with those insanely hard hitting baselines and fast tempos. Def my current favorites
I played my first pokemon back with Red version before I could really even read properly, but hearing that OG gen 1 theme brings my right back to the first time my Venasaur, Pidgeot, and Nidoking became League Champion. How amazing.
That's why I like Galar more - it was a completely different region. The idea of a tournament in a huge stadium where everyone can show themselves, especially a champion, is much better than five people who spend all day standing in a dumb room waiting for someone to finally come to them
Unova had every reason to go so hard. God damn bro. Kalos is a special place in my heart, I did really love the way one of the E4 members was a Team Flare member, really cool. (Also my First game)
Gen 1 is my all time favorite since it's the one I grew up with so it holds a special place in my heart. But without the nostalgia goggles I'd say Gen 5 and 9 are my favorites
Caitlin is front and center because she is the greatest E4 member out of all 36 of them. Great lovely, sleepy design, cute, and all of her Pokemon just match her design and vibe. I love how she has this sleepy design - like how much of a baddie do you have to be to be sleeping in your elite chambers??? She sleeping on these hoes! The incredibly upbeat and intimidating E4 theme heavily contrasts her delicate design I feel, so it makes her striking
Gen 7's E4 theme goes SO damn hard! I have a feeling that it may become a meme similar to Vordt of the Boreal Valley from Dark Souls 3. It's THAT intimidating!
The original e4/gym theme, and also the champion theme sound super air-y, it gives me the same vibe as the slumbering weald but with a completely different beat and style.
Gen 9 did an almost perfect job with the elite four. Penelope is a bit of an oddball, but it is theorized that she will turn up again in a future game or dlc as an older, more fleshed out character, so maybe itll turn out to be one of the best elite fours in the series.
When listening to rumors or hypothesis, check how many things have to go right for this to be true: 1) penelope shows up in DLC 2) DLC has a time skip 3) They will flesh out Penelope's character 4) Gamefreak planned that from the start
That sinnoh theme..make me got a strong feeling about the previous time when i was playing my nds.. Dunno how to describe that feeling..its just so memorable..i miss that moment.. Classic pkmn game is the best..
I feel like there needs to be more interactions with Elite Four members during the story to give them more character depth that being just a person in the way to the champion. It’s gotten slightly better in the more recent generations but still in almost every game there’s constant interactions with the champions so why not the Elite Four as well
i've had gen 5 league in my head for ages now and i thought it was a team admin or a legendary battle, but i mixed it with the kyogre groudon theme in my head
ahh yes my favourite elite 4 member, Bede xD in all seriousness, it sucks gen 8 didnt really have an elite 4, i know it was a different vibe but man i love the e4 battles, the Mysterious Strangers before the end of a run
I like that in Gens I-VII the Kanto Elite Four shares the same theme as the Kanto Gym Leaders, the same applies to the Gens I-IV Johto Gym Leaders and Elite Four.
the Hoenn Elite 4 theme got the best music IMO but its also the most nostalgic for me. Galar has the most changes which is cool but isnt as epic (sounds happier), Unova has the best bridges and Kalos region is super dope in general and has the best meme potential, I dont really like Sinnoh's Elite 4 music but the Piano when you enter Cynthia's room and her battle theme are unbeaten by any other Elite 4 / Champ track.
Although I grew up with Gen 1 and 2, Hoenn is my all-time favorite, as this was the starting point of defining the Elite Four and has a cool beat. Don't get me wrong, Gen 5 is great, too.
