I love how in this season Callum and Rayla are healing their relationship. It was a great chance to show us their unconditional trust in the other, friendship, understanding, teamwork and communication. These are the base to a stronger relationship, in my mind, the flower we see in the last minutes of "Old Wounds", it'll bloom as a symbol to Rayllum's New Romance Beginning for the Season 6🌱🌹💖
Unfortunely I got to the other end of the stick. The unconditional trust only felt like blind love to me, specially considering the events of Season 4. The whole thing feels so rushed considering not a season ago they were still on bad terms PRECISELY because of things that Rayla STILL do, and instead of remeding it, she just... continued to do it, while Callum just went with ''yeah i just have to swallow the tears'', like he's the only one who shouldn't have acted like he did - specially the way they frame it during the season, its ALWAYS Callum talking about how he's learning to trust and respecting her boundaries, but never the opposite.

Literally loved this season. Rayllum moments NEVER felt forced, or too stiff like in season 4. Callum is actually how we remember him, empathetic and protective of his loved ones (including Rayla). I really missed this in season 4, but I can understand why he was stubborn in season 4. I just felt like it went on for too long. All in all, Season 5 has to be my favorite season thusfar. I will never grow old of these two. ❤️🤍
The fact that he would do anything for Rayla is amazing. Using dark magic for her twice now and giving away a super dangerous spell. I’m glad that finnigren died so he wouldn’t be able to ever use that spell. THIS IS FHE BEST SEASON EVER I LOVE RAYLLUM. THEY ARE SO CUTE
The fact he used dark magic again worries me for their relationship but I'm hopeful that they'll see past it. After all the conditions for when Callum used dark magic this time were far more extreme than before, he was badly beaten up, none of his own spells could free him and the one he loves was threatened. He was desperate and out of options so let's hope that Rayla and others can see that.
I think one of the most important scenes in this series was in the last episode where Aaravos was pressuring Viren to kill their “child”, the being that was the caterpillar in the earlier seasons. Viren had a lot of thoughts going through his mind and when he saw how innocent his child looked at him and the amount of dark magic he’s used in the past, he decided that he has had enough of dark magic. He looked as if he’s absolutely horrified by everything he has done and how he led Claudia down the same path before he told Aaravos that he was done with him. That whole scene was really unexpected because I noticed how hesitant he seemed about reusing dark magic in season 4.
@@beninnes2656 If Rayla doesn't see it, he should ditch her. Him using Dark Magic to SAVE HER should be celebrated. Meanwhile she lies to his face three times, breaks her promise to him, leaves him for two years, comes back expecting nothing to be different, steals his shit, and chooses revenge over him again. Rayla became a disgusting abuser in just two seasons. It's so sad what they've done to her. She was so amazing in S1-S3.
I imagine that Finnegrin wouldn't have been able to use the spell regardless since the avengee is long dead and thus the window to get the dying breath is long gone... unless *any* dying breath would do.

Yess i watch it all (season 5) last night and watched it all over again today. But now we have to wait so long!! Rayllum is so beutiful and the trust so so presious! Love them

I feel like the scene where Amaya talks to Callum is the most heart warming scene in the season. I know a lot of people want Rayllum back to where it was before in season 3, but we need to give them time to build their relationship up again. We see that they trust each other a lot, but they still need to build up their relationship slowly so it doesn’t mess things up.
I think the time apart was vital, and a huge problem was that they (the characters) rushed into things without thinking. Now, they're both more mature and aren't so dependent on each other, so the relationship can grow into something healthier.

an apology from rayla doesn't have to be put into words. she showed immense maturity by taking Amayas advice to heart and telling callum about the coins, and the way she went about telling him was also very mature. she asked for consent of his help before showing him, and to me, that's a HUGE difference between the rayla we know now, and the rayla from the past who always just thrust her issues onto callum. a verbal apology would be nice, but in my interpretation, I think they've both realized that they're both sorry. 😁😁
Why didn't they kiss?? Anyways, this season was far better than the 4th season, I just want them back to being like they were back in season 3 (my fav season, btw).
Rayllum this season was beautiful! While Im sad there wasn',t a kiss I can understand why‚ and they didn't need to have one to show how much they still love each other. It was so beautifully done and such a cure for their stance in s4. The "I would do anything for you" will come back at them in the future tho haha
But why is nobody talking about how much their dynamik changed in comparisson to season 3? Now it feels like their both equals in their relationship. They are both experienced, mindful, calm individuals and both strong leaders this season. Whereas in season 3 Rayla was portrayed as competent, confident and appeared more as a woman while Callum seemed to be more clumsy, incompetent,dorky and more like a young boy who needed Raylas protection (I know he was able to handle things on his own,but they always put him down for comedic relief). I always thought it didn't make sense for Rayla to like him back then, since I felt like she saw him as someone she had to constantly look out for, like a babysitter. But this season, they are really able to see eye-to-eye and they have amazing chemistry that feels like the firm ground a relationship could build on.

It would be great in a future season Rayla deeply apologizes saying she held it in and wasn’t sure how to be sorry for lying to him and leaving him behind, and that she realized he is strong enough on his own. Then Callum leans in to kiss her like she did for their first kiss and says he accepts her apology

Woke Netflix is never making a woman apologize, LOL! They keep pretending Callum is the problem and has to grow up. Why is it that Hollywood's idea of a man ''maturing'' is always him allowing a woman to do literally anything she wants? I saw it in Insomniac's Spider-Man 2 with Peter and MJ as well. It's always the guy having to just grovel like a dog and tolerate anything while telling their gf she's literally perfect and better than him and that he was wrong and insecure for ever standing in her way about anything. Disgusting writing, especially for a kid's show. If boys grow up aspiring to act like Callum to their gfs, they'll never have a good relationship. They'll be taken to the cleaners, used for dinner dates, and get cheated on and walked all over constantly.
I thought their relationship was handled better in season 5 than it was in season 4. At the same time, I read an interview with the creators recently and they suggested Rayla and Callum still have things to work through. And I hope we get to see that on screen, because I agree that they do. Like, they REALLY have a lot to work on. I think Callum this season came to the conclusion that he would love Rayla no matter what and that in order to keep her in his life, he would need to accept her as she is (which in a way, ties into his studies of the Ocean arcanum). But the idea of Rayla being intentionally deceitful to Callum and then STEALING from him --- only to have him say he trusts her unconditionally and then even stop her from trying to explain herself --- is pretty problematic. It's one thing to accept someone as they are and to trust that they have good intentions, but another thing entirely to take that kind of blatant disrespect and act like it's okay. I feel like the scene where they talk after she's arrested would have been better if he had said something more like, "I trust that you didn't have bad intentions, and you don't have to tell me anything you're not ready to tell me. But don't lie to me or disrespect my boundaries like that." The way he reacted said to me that he still didn't have a strong grasp on what a healthy relationship should be about. It's not about trusting blindly or letting someone walk all over you, or enabling them to make destructive choices. And I hope that we get to see them working more on this in the future. I was at least glad to see Rayla trying to be more open and honest with him later in the season, because it showed she cared just as much as he did about repairing their relationship.
This is probably one of the most intelligent comments I've ever seen on this topic, because minus some word choice, I 100% agree with you. I did somewhat find that Callum disregarded his own self respect this season when it came to how he treated Rayla, and I do also hope (and believe we can expect) to see Callum's side of this more clearly in the coming seasons, especially with Aaron saying that Rayla would apologize soon... So we will see what happens!
Why does it sound like you're blaming Callum for the way he's being treated, and not Rayla for treating him that way? Yes, he should have boundaries. But this is victim blaming.
Rayllum was great this season they even had a “inn” scene like Suki and Sokka tent scene.😂 But I still can’t believe that Rayla still didn’t apologize to him for ghosting him for 2 years. And Callum act like he is the one who must apologize.

I'm noticing them slowly upping the violence compared to previous seasons. I seriously don't remember a single drop of blood in the first few seasons, so its cool to see the show trying to age with its audience.
2:02 I love this moment and their conversation after so much! I got so worried the writers were gonna pull one of those 'miscommunication that takes till the end of the season to fix'. Then the 'you don't have to explain anything, you can tell me when your ready.' I love how much trust they have with eachother, even when their relationship is mending. By far one of the best fictional couples!
Spoilers: I’m really hoping that rayla talks to callum about his second use of dark magic and know that he did it cause he loves her enough to do things he never wants to do. And to not have this overdrawn anger moment with their relationship. Callum already started that she trusts her unconditionally, there should be a moment where rayla feels the same
It’s amazing that Callum apologized to Rayla when Rayla is the one who should apologize to him. If they don’t write Rayllum good in the next season then it will be too late for the show.Almost everyone watches the show because of them. The next season will be only for adults and darker I hope we we see some angsty and romantic moments of them.

I really like Callum and Rayla being together, I was surprised that the new season came early instead of 27th july, watched all the nine episodes of it, I was shocked for what that ocean elf did to Rayla, like he was bloodbending her, and I'm also glad that she's okay, if Rayla died, it would break my heart
It's absolute certain they are getting back together next season. All those comments made by the authors about Rayllum beit platonic, clearly describes the in between phase. They just didn't want to blow the whole load im a single season. That is why they haven't fully made up. But lol they have said all but outright they love each other. All cuddly, holding hands. I loved it

These two are still immature young adults and that's okay. I like how the show kind of soft-reset the relationship from it's very cute but very rushed romance in season 3. Now it's more of a slow progression of two people who clearly love each other, are growing with one another and still learning how and when to place boundaries and, in doing so, trust one another. Rayla's dishonesty and theft in the early part of S5 shows that she doesn't completely trust Callum yet and that's okay. Trust is something that requires a foundation to build upon. And as their adventures continue it looks like it's well on its way to doing so. Callum on the other hand trusts her too much and needs to learn the essential key to any long lasting relationship, and that is to stand up and set a firm reasonable boundary with her. But like I said, this is something that is learnt. And seeing that Rayla is his first ever girlfriend, it's something that will come with time if the writers continue to prove their compentancy. I imagine S6 will address Callums dark magic usage, but it is my hope that Amaya's words got through to Rayla and instead of berating him or, worse, leaving him again. She'll accept that this is just a burden for her and Callum to share. It will certainly show a good sign of maturity on her part, which is something her character desperately needs right now in this relationship.

I dont know what hurt more, knowing Callum was being tortured or that in those few seconds Rayla was being hurt he would have taken anything just so Rayla didnt have to go through it. I want the next season already, but the Rayllum moments will be enough for now 😢💔
This season had many nice moments but until Rayla and callum have a complete discussion about how relationship they can’t get back to the way were at the end of season 3
Everyone says that in S4 and 5 their relationship is toxic but honestly its NEVER BEEN MORE REAL OR HEALTHY. These two are such a green flag couple. They trust each other unconditionally and would do anything for each other. Seasons 4 and 5 just felt so realistic with their relationship. Callum felt rightfully hurt she left but they're back and they're trying to heal. "Its an old wound thats healin'" represents not just the bridge between Katolis and Xadia but also the bridge between Rayllum. Its so perfect to me and I love them with all my heart ❤

@@thunderlion6909 They give the side couples so much more story more than the main couple Rayllum. Why? The other side plots ruined the Story and the main couple.
The extent to which Rayla took Amaya's advice to heart is very reassuring, especially since in the past Rayla has often challenged or misinterpreted advice if it clashed too much with her personal beliefs. In this case, even though Amaya's advice about being strong together completely contradicts what Rayla's believed for years, she doesn't challenge it at all. She immediately accepts it as the superior view of strength and better yet she acts on it immediately by telling Callum about the coins.
When I saw that scene in The Dragon Prince season 5 episode, Finnegrin's Wake, I was satisfied that Callum literally punching Finnegrin in the face for torturing Rayla, which I feel bad for her the same way Callum did. Because I'm getting tired of kids movies or shows having heroes standing in front of a villain and does nothing to him/her after his/her friend is tortured. Thank goodness the writers aren't shy enough to show that in a kids show, and I love it!
I'm currently watching through the entire show again, and I am going to read all 3 Graphic novels as well, and I haven't watched season 5 yet and I am really excited for it!!!😊🤗🤗
I'm pretty sure season four was mostly clean up from the mistake they made in season three, this being the Raylum ship. I think they wanted to leave off on a sort of Nick and Judy situation where the two leads were definitely friends with just a couple of implications that something more could happen later, but they rushed because Netflix was on the fence about continuing the show, and TTM was a hasty reset button that bled into season four with natural consequences. I think the Raylum in this season was what they wanted to do all along; a nice slow progression that leads these two friends to realize their deeper feelings for each other. It's implied the books are a sort of soft reset, so maybe we'll get that story in the books.
I am very impressed with Callum for not freaking out about Rayla stealing and going behind his back, like I woulda considered blowing her out the building or something
On a Completely weird note the translator for Callum’s aunt (I forgot his name sorry!) is the speaking voice for Tony Stark in the iron man armored adventures show! It’s sooo nice that he sounds literally the same after all these years!❤😂
While I love Rayllum I wished Rayla was more transparent with Callum. All this secrecy and shoving her disappearance under the rug doesn’t feel right. Especially for 3 seasons they’ve been together trying to unite the realms. Hope the show maintains a serious tone and addresses character dynamics such as this.
