Sonic sneezing was prob used when you enter a boss fight because in the comics when sonic senses danger he sneezes it also might have been used for that butterfly enemy because it drops dust on you
@@pieofchart I actually think it could be from that little detail, in the opening of sonic cd sonic sneezes right before the mountain blows up (it’s super fast and hard to notice but I promise I’m not lying)
the sound in 1:12 could also be a sneeze, which could also go with the unused sneeze sprite. the sneeze was his superpower back then, and whenever he sneezed it meant danger was nearby. the reason the sneeze was removed was probably because it would’ve happened often since there are lots of badniks in the game
@@boboley if that was true then we probably would’ve seen unused dust sprites Also him sneezing when danger is nearby makes more sense, since they added a clip of him sneezing in the intro animation, which probably means they were originally intending to add that sneezing sprite in the game

46:23 Im pretty sure that both of these voice clips were meant for tails. It sounds like they belong to him. While im not too sure exactly what they were meant for, the "hey!" Clip maybe would have been used if sonic carried tails and hurled him into an obstacle that caused him to lose rings or die due to how annoyed the clip sounds. The "lets go!" Is even more of a mystery, but i think it would have been used in the same vein as how sonic says "yes!" When you get an extra life in sonic CD.
I remember the time I was playing sonic 3-D blast for my Genesis and I accidentally hit the cartridge and the congratulation screen popped up, and I almost crapped myself. It scared me so much.
Either I'm "mandela"ing, or, the heart eyes were totally used in the original PC release of Sonic CD I had as a kid, as I remember, if you stand still, she'd kiss sonic, get the heart eyes, then chase you around with hearts coming off her the whole way or until you ran far enough away.
@@ashcyr3711 I get that, but I never actually bothered to stand still to see that interaction in the re-release, I mean the one from the 90s, as I never owned a Sega CD as a kid, but I did get the game on PC.
Now that I think about it, I have an original copy of the pc release, I may get to figuring it out when I have the chance to answer this once and for all.

In my opinion, the Sega logo voice in the finished version of _Sonic 3D_ feels like a reflection of the turmoil Sega of America had at the time in hindsight.
Cybershell pointed this out in his Sonic 2 movie review, but there’s an edited/recreated Super Sonic 32x sprite in the credits of the second movie so it got some nice use eventually.

How did he not notice that for the first prototype the star links are different than the final version in fact I think that the sparkles that he assumed was for supersonic is that and the sounds of someone saying hey and let's go I believe is Tails it sounds like him and it was removed from future builds because Tails was no longer playable.

it checks out that none of the s3d prototypes have the 3d intro yet, IIRC one of jon's gamehut videos mentions that he had been saving space on the cartridge during the entire dev cycle and he dropped the intro in unceremoniously in like the final week of development in order to surprise sega, and reportedly they liked it
4:24 That's in Sonic Mania, you can only access it from Debug Mode, but it forces Sonic to transform into Super Sonic, forces meaning that it can happen without the Chaos Emeralds, when you trigger it that way, you can still go into the Emerald stages, but you will need to use another one of those to trigger the transformation again...
Is it just me, or does anyone else think Tails' Stage in Sonic 3D looks like Windy Valley from Sonic Adventure? Looks like music isn't the only thing they redid for Adventure.
2:50 These were almost certainly for the special stages in the game, not some unseen top-down segment. It's likely the top sprites were when Sonic hit something he would fall back on his butt, and the bottom sprites were an alternate jump or even bouncing from a spring.

Majin sonic from CD was just a nice easter egg the guy put in for fun and wasnt meant to be creepy, but the design itself and the american ports changing the song that was supposed to play there (iirc its the boss music) made it creepy, creepy enough to be in alot of Sonic.EXE Material (endless, anyone?)
