When I was not living up to standards, I felt humble but not confident, a failure. I discovered, however, that the gospel contained the resources to build a unique identity. In Christ I could know I was accepted by grace not only despite my flaws, but because I was willing to admit them. The Christian gospel is that I am so flawed that Jesus had to die for me, yet I am so loved and valued that Jesus was glad to die for me. This leads to deep humility and deep confidence at the same time. It undermines both swaggering and sniveling.” - The Reason for God, p.180,81

As just music? This is beautiful. As theology? It is atrocious. No one can deny the capacity every person has to sin, but Christ followers are not licensed to continue in the habit of sin. Read I John Chapter 3. Jesus set us free. Free from what? Not just death, but sin and death. We declare victory in Jesus. What victory? Over both sin and death. A new creation? Yes, who is no longer prisoner to the flesh. Ultimately, it comes down to the fact that God has not only the power to save us, but the power to change us. Don't let people fool you with neo-Calvinism - you are not a prisoner to total depravity. That is what the Holy Spirit came to do. That is what being born again is all about - becoming a new person. "Sin I will, Sin I must, If I don't, I'll surely bust" is a defeatist attitude. And no, believing that the God who told you to "be holy" will empower you to live a holy life, does not amount to self-righteousness or salvation by works. This is why so many people who identify as followers of Christ live such shallow unfulfilling lives. I work at a university and the reality is that with rare exception you cannot see any difference in the habits of students who profess Christ and those who don't. And you can talk about grace all you want (It is real and beautiful), but at some point there should be a difference. Those 12 guys who followed Jesus around were not just forgiven, but the way they lived was radically changed.

I just recently graduated from a recovery ministry for those struggling with addiction and alcohol and this was one of my favorite songs we listened to during our morning chapel services. yes we are sinners and he will always forgive us if we are genuinely asking for forgiveness but we should not abide in sin. If we live in sin we are not of God. Christ said we are in the world but not of the world. we sin but we should not abide in it because the grace then becomes useless. Grace is not an "ok" for sinning. Christ must be at the center of our lives for us to change and we must want it. This song is beautiful but do not let it be misconstrued.

I am broken, but with the gospel I am saved. I can never escape my sin, but with God's grace and mercy I can overcome through the Holy Spirit's guidance. Jesus is the way, the truth, the life. Stumbled across this group on Pandora. This group has opened my eyes to all the great singer/songwriters in this genre of music. This might be my favorite music genre now - I'm a new fan. This group has such incredible lyrics and harmonies they are almost haunting. Watching You Tube is a bonus because you SEE the passion they have for their lyrics. I first heard this only a few months ago and I instantly related to the honesty of the lyrics. God's Love changes us ETERNALLY!!!

I never had a family. I Was Born to a family but they weren't there. I was conceived in violence. A house divided against itself. Fighting always the mother and the father. The brother that was 9 it was treated horrible by the father. The brother that was nine suffered was picked on and dehumanized. Self-esteem was something we never would have. I asked my mother during a blow-up fight why why did you have me? Didn't by Brother suffered enough? Is it a bad one child had to be born into this family? Why in God's name did you ever want to bring another child into this house of hell? And my mother said I was going to leave your father when I got pregnant for you. That made me feel good. Cuz if I was wanted and then treated like that I wouldn't understand. My brother blames everyone for everything except herself. She was a victim true. A young girl who got married at 20. Both lost. Both anger no mercy and in denial. I was told all the fighting was always my fault. But I realized that was happening before I was born. And it was happening before my brother was born. And if you pull the root all the way back it goes back to those two people in the garden. I know the scriptures and I have a great savior. I see where it says even when my mother and father forsake me then the Lord will take me up. I know someone loves me. This invisible God loves me. But my heart will always long for my mother to be sincere for my mother to have natural affection for me. She knows how to handle it because she's really good to my brother. He suffered 9 years more than I did. I learned forgiveness. I forgave my father and took care of him on his Deathbed. I actually had to protect him from my mother. My father did not deserve any special treatment at the end of his life. My father was a nice person by himself so was my mother. Together they were toxic. None of us deserved love from God but he gave it and so I did too. Now my father's been dead and my mother soon will join him. My mother this is my brother who's been gone since he graduated. He is such a broken lost man :-( and my mother doesn't want anything from me because it makes my brother look bad. But I stay faithful because I love my mother. Even though she tried to hurt my father I love her anyway and I would give her the very best treatment on her deathbed to. But she hates me and she made my brother and my relatives all turned on me. She is upset that I gave my father love. I understand the pain she feels because I too felt it. But she just buried my father I am his blood. I miss my father very much even though he never gave me presents and he wasn't a father who was there for you when you needed a good talk. Both my parents have no affection for closeness. I didn't want to be like that. Anything to make my mother happy I make it happen. Anything that I would be happy with my mother takes it away. I don't even have the privilege of moving her car after I shovel during the winter. And you could things I do she doesn't tell anyone and if there's cards and flowers they are quickly hidden. I always include my brother on any gif. I don't want to say goodbye to my mother before her time. She is alive everyday I wait for her to call me. When she does it's a quick conversation that she really did want to make. I make her food every day because I feel guilty eating foods that my mother will never have. I write a Bible verses but she doesn't like scripture. She doesn't hear me. I am stripped of any kind of pride. I tell her I love her and I'm sorry if I've done anything by being born. Her lips say she loves me but her actions says she despises me. my heavenly father gave these things that I will never understand. I never had to be broken of self because I was taught I deserve nothing and I am nothing. My father said to take it will always hurt me if I bother loving just my brother is so thick that no one should have to live through. I forgive them because I think people will be going to hell. How could I be mad? How can I be sad. If she dies or if she lives she still my mother and I am still her daughter. I will remember my mother when she was nice to be when my father was alive. She was nice to me because I was a distraction to my father and my mother could get things done. I know my mother uses me but it's better that. Having my mother do anything. She will sell her house the thieves with my grandma and grandpa all the things from their life. Good things that I can teach my children and my children's children. If there's a future left. anything to make my mother happy I would give her and everything that makes me happy she has taken from me. I feel so guilty being 30 years younger than her and being able to live more. she loves this life so much. When my mother dies there will only be memories of stuff it didn't include me it's like she can't take it with her if she will give it to me. I don't want anything material for my mother I only want askance here hug. One that doesn't feel like it's being repelled. if I dyed my mother would be very happy. if I was up by Beth but my mother would let me suffer. If there was a choice between saving my brother or me she would choose my brother. These are thigs let me realize what her love means . the heart is desperately wicked and deceitful Above All Things just like Jesus wrote. Help me Lord to love you more then my mother my brother or my children. Help me Lord not to live in fear anymore. I am more than a sparrow. I do believe there is a curse on my family because of witchcraft. There's always someone make a life Impossible for me to live freely. men and women become obsessed with me to the point where I have to hide. I live my life the opposite of how I Learned. People like that and they can be very controlling and possessive with me. I don't want to have people around me all the time because Better Off Alone. I like to be around my people which are nursing home people. those people are my mother and my father. I'm broken but I and finding the pieces through the King James Bible to put me back together again. I don't think God wants me to stay in my apartment with the blinds closed cuz the neighbors look in my window. I can't go to my mother because she doesn't want me there. And I've done nothing to deserve that. I never partied or done drugs or any bad thing I got saved in 1985 November 10th and I'm not in a very good place right now because my mother she is all I have in this world that's part of me

Such a powerful chapter in the book of Romans (chapter 7). soo often i find myself taking what Paul says here for granted, i feel soo horrible, knowing that what i am doing at time is displeasing to God. But, yet He still loves me, and has and will NEVER forsake me. why? because i confess my sins to him, no matter how dark, dirty they may be, He loves me. i am cleansed in the name of Jesus, the Lord of my life who gave up His life so that I could be washed clean and forgiven of my sins. I am set free from this world and i am 100% sure where i am going when my time on this earth is done. where are you going? who is your savior? Jesus. He's the answer, The Way, Truth And THE LIFE IN THIS AND THE NEXT
