Riley and Westphal were drawing up plays on timeouts. The coaches should do more coaching and bench players not making an effort. That is how to improve the intensity in today's game.
90s NBA all star games were so much better than today’s all star games. NBA on NBC was the bomb in the 90s and now they can possibly be revived in 2 years.
Totally agree. Cleveland took him as the first pick over Len Bias in the 1987 draft as they wanted a man in the middle. Too bad injuries forced him into early retirement. He was such a great passing big man and probably the best at that time.
Great game! Love the intense ending. Ewing’s automatic from the right block. Jordan in control. Stockton superb. Riley play calling. Price shooting the lights out. Malone Chuck & Shaq banging the glass. So cool.
@@Justhoops1 it used to be exciting as it should be. Can't really understand why y'all are defending all-star games these days. Don't y'all like to see the best pickup game the league has to offer ??? I don't understand really 😕 😐
After watching the trash show of the 2024 NBA All-Star Game. I had to re-watch this game to remind myself of what these games should look like. You can still have high scoring games, but at least show effort.
If I knew just how lucky I was to grow up in the 80s and 90s, I would have done my best to appreciate it a lot more lol Pop culture everything, movies, music, sports, it was all so rich and colorful, just amazing.
FIRST PLAY OF THE GAME, GOAT MJ - the greatest offensive player this side of Wilt- makes an immediate defensive stop. Because he’s also a GOAT defender. 🐐 🏀🔥🥶
@@ArribaCULICHI420 he has more money than most people but most people would rather be themselves than a narcassistic crybaby ped using cheating pos just to get that money. Some people have morals and values unlike that pos that sold his soul for fame. Lots of people make enough money to be happy and live comfertable without having half the world hating them. What good is his money when he's gone and burning in hell? You delusionals have to wake up to reality at some point
Oh, I thought zone defenses _didn't_ exist in the 90s & teams _couldn't_ send double teams, but would you look at that... This must be some alternate reality or something...🙄. On a serious note, look at how much more competitive these games were compared to today's garbage. Damn, I miss the REAL NBA.
It's caus the league has been ruined w soft floppers crybabies entitled stat paders that want the easy way out by stacking teams and begging refs to bail them out. The league is a complete joke now it's very sad to see
The best part of the all start game was we got to see teams that would never happen and they actually tried to one up each other Nowadays most of them are already on teams together and don’t even try to make it competitive.
Prior to One and Dones.. players developed in systems as collegiate athletes. Fundamentals first, made a better game. Now the NBa is watered down with basically the same player archetype..
I understand I stopped watching the all star game in 2007 because they stopped playing defense. So glad I recorded all the game up to and before so that I can always watch I’m moving towards putting the ones I have up on the channel I just have to get them and begin this process it takes a while but once they are up that will be cool I can rewatch them a bit easier. They are on VHS and time to do this I’ve had the tapes for some time as far back as 1986 and hopefully I can get the tapes to work to copy them to RU-vid the last time I made these were a few years ago. I have lots of other games as well just a tedious process and life kinda got in the way but I’ll begin uploading again I didn’t want to lose a lot of the videos I’ve got some things people probably don’t have or the NBA or NCAA has not posted on RU-vid
@@strictlyvintagebasketball354That would be great anything from 1986 on and kind of a reach but march madness final four from 1990 on ? Whatever you get to will be much appreciated by all who are chafing under the current nba 3pt. yawn Athon. Thanks !
All these guys were fierce competitors. They may be friends off the course but they hated each other on. No building super teams everyone was going after Jordan.
When the all star game was worth watching from tip off till the last second!…. The all star game died in the last Game Jordan played!….After that it’s become a joke just like the NFL pro bowl!…
Im old af 🤷🏽♂️ I legit watched this live..like 2am cuz I'm in the UK 🇬🇧 and I had basketball training at 11am...got in there HYPED Lol. Mad thing is my favourite players to watch was MJ and AI but I'm a lifelong Knicks fan. Mike killed us so bad 😕🤷🏽♂️ the All Star games since like '13, '14 are mf'n vanilla. I miss the east coast west coast ting
ISIAH, not ISAIAH - wrong player. Zeke’s name has often been botched. But now that there’s a Isaiah Thomas… you REALLY MUST RESPECT THE LEGEND!!! Although I love Isaiah also and he’s a GOAT amongst PGs my size! I’m a right handed version of younger I.T. 🏀 🔥BALL ON!
This all star game had a lot of narratives. MJ was trying to outshine Drexler. The Centers were going at each other. Shaq was a rookie. Stockton Malone and it is in Utah.
Wow. Jordan has said that he’s hated Isiah since 1991 but right after the game goes to OT, Jordan and Isiah are on the bench and Jordan doesn’t look like he hates Isiah. It looks like they have been friends for years. Jordan’s full of it
True, but Reggie Lewis played pretty good this year, which, unfortunately, would be his final year. Lakers wouldn't have an allstar again until 95 when Cedric Ceballos made it. Don't remember right now who the next Celtics was that made allstar game again.
Just searched it. No Celtic would make allstar game until 98 when Antoine Walker made it. Crazy that it took 6 years for a Celtics player to make allstar game.
I wish the all-star game was played like this. Today, it's like a bougie slam dunk contest with random deep 3s with no defense. The NBA should make the all star game rights for home court advantage in the finals. Like baseball. It'd be dope to see them play each other hard and serious for a change.
Its crazy how because the players a lot of them were on the og dream team and they had monte carlo, this all star game they were playing hard the whole game lol

16:32 oooooooh boy....what a difference a few years make.....if he only knew what the future held (in no way a rip on Shaq, one of my all time favs...but damnit ya gotta call em how they are!)
Everybody talking about the defense. Apparently it was strange for them to even be playing defense. Did you not hear the announcers? Everybody was SUPRISED THAT DEFENSE WAS BEING PLAYED. Must be watching with the sound off
Michael and Isiah in that first quarter were scintillating. Can you imagine if they were teammates? The highlight reel would be insane. No one would be stopping that sh*t.So sad, there's beef between them 😒.
can someone help? what is the song played when the introduction begins…there is a sample from JAM of Michael Jackson and the beat is Mary had a little boy- so it s a some kind of remix. TY very much!!
I'll send you this link to this song this is the Steve Hurley Remix I know because I DJ on the side and personally Know Steve Hurley I live here in Chicago and He is one of the founding fathers of House Music if you would like more history please ask. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8mL64NqJA0U.html
