@@Keaks_ I feel bad for him... for those specific things. How he handled Shrekling (a combination of Shrek and heckling) is what made me lose respect for him. Imagine if Rick Astley became a giant cunt every time he had to play Never Gonna Give You Up, and then got off stage to fight the hecklers. It wouldn't respect him at all if that were the case, regardless of his situation.

@@avihs92 no, I don't actually. Addiction is a mother f#cker, and I have seen it's effects first hand. It's sad, it's painful, and it's difficult to watch. Additionally, I really enjoyed Smash Mouth. Great band. I do hope he is able to get some help to overcome the addiction. I really do. Heck, I would drop everything to help him if I could. Support is the key. We all gotta be supportive to our fellow humans.

Through the heartbreak and the recoils, only choices made by the ones afflicted have made an impact. By that I mean, no amount of rehabilitation or programming was going to save me or my brother. We had to fight ourselves, once we decided we wanted something better. So going back to your original comment, when you say “why allow him to drink alcohol on top of those issues,” I find that statement rather belittling to the other band members. An addict will stop at nothing to get what they desire, so, I don’t think it comes down to “allowing,” anyone to do anything. You are part of a band, you have deadlines and schedules to meet and you can’t actually control what another member does. At least not without destroying the integrity of the band. So, that’s why I said what I said. Because you implied (said) that somebody else’s decision could dictate an addicts moves. I disagree unless you lock them or bind them somehow, because he must want the change himself for it to occur.

@@avihs92 I didn't mean any offense. I too faced a terrible addiction on pain pills. Got hurt and my doctor prescribed them like candy. For 1.5 years I ate them like candy. One day I decided to quit taking them. That was the absolute worst night of my life. So bad, I considered my pistol to end the pain and misery I was experiencing! I couldn't comprehend that I was addicted to these things. It also taught me how easily one could become addicted and not even notice they are. It's easy for me to armchair CEO the bands response. I know it's not their fault. I can guarantee they tried everything to try and help him. Again, sorry if I came out too harsh. It wasn't my goal here. I'm sure they were horrified to see their member in such a miserable place. I do hope he has reached out for help.
