This is a Comparison of the three new variations of the Cooper Discoverer AT3. I like how Cooper has approached the tire delivering different features and benefits to different types of customers instead of having a one tire fits all type of approach. Cooper is a quality tire manufacturer that is based in the United States. See the links below if you want to look at the tires in more detail. If you need a set, click the Tire Buyer Link below.

I have a 2016 Ford F350 Club Cab with original tires: Tire Size: LT275/65R20/E Michelin - LTX A/T2 with 39000 miles on the Truck & Tires. A tire just blew on the highway today 6/17/2021 and caused quite a bit of damage to the Rear Fender. It was on the highway and the temp was 105 F and my speed was 70 MPH. Now I don't know what to do I don't trust the other tires on the Truck!!! However, they are supposed to run 60,000 miles. These are supposed to be the best tires you can buy. List price on these tires is over 500.00 each. but now I am thinking of changing Brands! Plus, I have all this damage to my Truck. I do have pictures of everything. Note: There was a very large Explosion when the tire blew without any warning. I was still about 100 miles from Home. So, I put on the spare, stopped at the first stop I could about 2 miles down the road to check the tire pressure on the spare. It only had 45 lbs. of air. So, I added air to the spare and continued home without any more issues.

Hello. I am leaning toward the Coopers rather than the K02 mainly for price but also because, I currently run Cooper and they have met all my needs. I find it interesting when talking about airing down the tire for more traction, you were on the XLT tire (which i think is 10 ply) I was thinking about geting a 10 ply tire, not for towing, but for increased traction when air down for increased traction, such as when you are stuck in snow or mud. I am at times out on off road roads or trails alone in my truck and getting stuck is something I try to avoid. But when stuck do you know if airing down a 10 ply tire versus a non 10 ply such as the AT3 4S is any difference in traction when trying to get unstuck? Thanks!

I've ran these Cooper Discoverer AT3 LT tires on my half-ton GMC 4x4 since 2015. I rotate my tires every 5,000 miles and I've gone through 2 sets since 2015. I live on 50 miles of heavy gravel, plus I hunt and get firewood so need off-trail in dry and mud...then head to town for groceries on the highway. I also live in Montana so have winter ice & snow conditions to deal with. I can NOT say enough GOOD things about these tires. I've had an average of 55,000 miles on each set. This last set that I'm about to change out has 61,000 miles on them! Great job on these tires, Cooper!

Good review of these tires. I have a full set of the AT3 XLT's on my 2015 Ford F350 which is a 4 door cab, 8ft bed, 4wd and electronic locking differential, and 20" stock rims just to set the baseline. I have towed fully loaded 5th wheel trailers through the mud in Florida after endless rainy days and weeks using these tires. I mainly credit the sidewall for being the reason I don't get stuck besides the obvious aggressive tread pattern. They handle great on the road loaded or empty. They ride very quiet and it has no vibration. I recommend these all day, any day, for someone who has trucks similar to mine regardless of brand.

Very helpful video. I'm looking for an American made tire that performs well on my F-150 4x4. Leaning toward a 10 ply E rating for towing stability and higher tire pressure when needed, Most of my time will be on the highway but occasional off road use. I'm leaning toward the Cooper AT 3 LT. Firestone and Bridgestone also offer nice tires. Not too aggressive but a bit of a rugged look. Not too noisy either. thank you!

Thanks for the video. I have BFG KO2's on my 2006 4x4 2500HD duramax, and ran them in snow and desert, towing boats and trailers, and I am replacing them after 9500 miles with the ATS3 Cooper, they are completely worn out even though I rotated them as per manufactures specifications. My Son's Truck is a 1/2 ton with a lift kit, and he didn't do much better with his KO2's. He also pulled trailers and such. My 1994 Jeep ZJ has the KO2"s, and they are fine after 15K miles. Pretty sure it has something to do with the weight of the vehicle, and towing / hauling. Going to give the Coopers a go because I have had good luck with the Dick Cepek Mountain cats that they no longer make, and they were a cooper tire made for Cepek.

I will be putting a set of the AT3 XLT's on my '99 Tacoma SR5 next week. Definitely a bit of overkill, as I use the truck mostly on roads, with some occasional trailer hauling in the summer, and part-time, too (it's my 2nd vehicle). But the LT is not available in 31/10.5R15 - a size that limits many tire options. I could buy 265/75R15, but those are usually STD range. I really appreciate this comparison review ... thanks!

I love my Cooper Discoverer AT3 LT's. I have a 1997 K2500 Suburban. We load up the family and tow the boat over several mountain passes here in Washington state. These tires handle everything we throw at them; snow, heavy rain, towing, forest service roads, slippery boat ramps, and long highway trips all with out issue and very little cabin noise. I've owned KO2 and hated them, couldn't wait to get them off my vehicle. I will be replacing my tires this fall and Coopers AT3 LT's will be going back on the Burban.

No dog in this fight besides just ordering the LTs, but I'm curious what made you dislike the KO2 so much.
@ericmccord
@ericmccord Год назад
@@anthonycrots2161 Totally fare question. I bought a pare for my Jeep TJ in 2004 timeframe. I know a long time ago and yes they’ve made improvements to them since then but the hype/cult following was the same back then. For me they gave my light soft top Jeep a very rough ride. They felt heavy compared to other tires I’ve had. The tried pattern clogged easily and became slicks. Even aired down they felt square, limiting traction. Now with that being said the Jeep is a very light vehicle. I’m sure I would had better performance in a slightly heavier vehicle. I’ve known a lot of Tacoma guys run them them and like them. But for me they didn’t work well in the Jeep and for even heavier vehicles like my K2500 Suburban I prefer the Coopers.

I have the Discovery AT3 LT in Lt 265-75/16 on my Silverado. They have been good tires so far, only had them for about five months. As far as noise is concerned, they do sing a bit, this is due to the tread being of a bit of an open design, I don't mind the singing, it's a good tune.

What I noticed right away after getting these tires oh, it was like as if the suspension was changed as well do I state-of-the-art off-road suspension, it handled potholes very well oh, they still do 5 years later. Hardly any mileage on them though oh, very good in the snow haven't gone off-roading with them have a quad for that what's mud tires. But they're very good oh, and they're installed on a Toyota RAV4 V6 with the trailering package. Great tires!

Dan Nakoneczny I also have a levelled Tundra 08 and have been running KO2’s for last 100k. I have no complaints other than loss of mpg’s and road noise from them. I don’t go off road all that much anymore but still like a fairly capable tire when I do. Am leaning toward these Coopers XLT’s but trying to get as much feedback as possible. I need a tire that wears well, and gets snow/wet traction more than anything.

For someone in a Ford F150 in Montana who spends maybe 30% off road and mostly on gravel roads do you feel it's worth going with an 8 or 10ply tire? I've been on the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3's and have no flats ever. No leaks or issues whatsoever. I'm considering the Discoverer XLT but wondering if I really need to go 10ply. Any thoughts are helpful. Your reviews are great, btw!

Hello - I'm also leaning to the cooper discoverer at3 4s - I have a 2011 Ford F150 4x4 Crew and live in Northeast Ohio - we get Lake effect snow at times - Go off road 5 %-maybe 10% - tow a little - mostly light loads (ATVs) - Have Michelin Defenders LTX and shoulder gone with 55K. Also considering Hankook AT2, Continental Terraincontact AT or HT, Firestone LE3 and General HTS60 - I saw you HT review - have not seen a AT review with above mentioned. Interested in your suggestion - I'm an easy going driver. Thank you Todd

Do you plan to do a video or can you comment on the new Cooper Discoverer Road and Trail A/T Tire? I have the AT3 XLT's and have been great tires going on almost 80k miles on them . I drive a half ton truck and do pull a big travel trailer in the summer months, but considering trying the updated new Road and Trail A/T tire by Cooper, have loved my XLT's but my biggest thing i would change about them is the stiffness of the ride. Question I have a 2010 Silverado LS. 17 inch rim with fender flares. My friend and I were using the tire calculator and found the two following options: 305/65 on a 17 and 285/70 on a 17 rim. would that work since that truck is rated at 265/70 on 17inch rim? Right now im using 245/70 on 17 inch. but the fender flares make them look incredibly small
