They can’t . I had a brand new truck with some good highway tires and they were complete garbage . Popped on a very well traveled fsr near my house like right away . Went with a Toyo at3 now
Even bald worn out bicycle tyres can do light off roading. If the only off roading you will be doing is driving over straight gravel and light hills, H/T will be fine. Basically, any off roading that a normal sedan or hatchback can do without getting stuck, than an H/T will do the same. A/T Are a little bit better for offroading. These tyres are for when you intend to do more than just driving on off road gravel (Driving up hills/mountains, steep rocks, etc). The biggest advantage A/T have of H/T is that A/T are more difficult to get a puncture since they are thicker. But they are also less comfortable on the road because of that stiffness. If you are on H/T or A/T, Avoid lakes, swamps, or wet muddy hills whenever possible. They are okay in dry conditions, but once you try to cross through deep mud or a wet muddy hill, you are going to have a very bad day. I personally prefer H/T tyres. I do light off roading like only once a year, and the off road portion can easily by done be even small hatchbacks and sedans, so no fancy off road tires needed.
