@@sihTdaeRtnaCuoY Well, you see, this is the first time ever making a comment towards him and I don't work as a Video Creator, which is know takes a ton of time to produce. Which is why I'm curious how does he have time to watch and comment on all the videos that I also been looking at.
@@Flawskiii It's called marketing. These people go around commenting on other channels so that people will notice them, and come check out their content. He is literally working. You are just watching videos and commenting. And it's effective. You and all these other people are noticing him and talking about him.
Zeratul’s speech on knowledge and experience towards Aldaris is one of my favorite quotes in Starcraft... He says it with so much conviction it’s chilling...
It really amps up the horror too, since when you see this speech, Zeratul sounds and is a badass that seems to know everything. Yet, in Dark Origin, even he was terrified by Duran's experiments. You can only imagine the implications when something scares Zeratul of all people.
@@AugustAutumn he has indeed as well watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. But srsly i love how Zeratul's dialogue has some inspiration from Blade Runner. SC1 was such a masterpiece
@@LuminousLead it's about the prophecies about the Zerg-Protoss hybrids, the Void, and the return of Amon (who's basically a evil-incarnate of the Xel'Naga, and basically the Legacy of the Void plots Zeratul had seen in prophecies way beyond any character in the SC2 universe could)
@@tarvoc746 they already had the hybrids, Xel'Naga, and the prophecies at SC1 but they're most likely to be very subtle details because the stories of each races were focused on something else (The Terran with the Dominion, Zerg with the rise of Kerrigan as Queen of Blades and the destruction of Aiur, and the Protoss with the death of the Zerg Overmind. The Brood Wars, as well). On that note, Blizzard may/might have concocted SC2's stories because of these small details.
Can't believe we went from this Zeratul - wise, experienced, haunted by the past, gentle yet firm, well spoken and clearly ancient - to ooga booga Friend Raynor ooga booga in SC2... If Blizzard really dropped one thing during the development of SC2, it was failing to invest in writers that truly attempted to understand the characters they were writing for.
I tend to agree. Even though Zeratul have been clearly shaken to his very core from the events in SC:BW, his personality in SC 2 deviates far too much from his original self. When listening to him I was left with the impression I was hearing a madman rambling, instead of the wise and experienced warrior he used to be. Coming to think of it, Blizzard did pretty much the same to Medivh. From a revereed and respected sorcerer to a mad Prophet.
Considering that Zeratul literally saw visions of the future where everyone he knew and loved died, then it's understandable why he's become how he is. Literally no sane individual who can actually comprehend the weight of the situation could remain unchanged to what Zertaul have gone through
Space opera product made more subdued for a more unified experience was a terrible idea. Political and social forces and how they manifest in a cast of characters and factions/races is the cornerstone of the genre.
@Tadashi Minami Don't fool yourself into think censorship wasn't around back then. The only difference is that back then is was the conservatives that were saying video games would turn us all into serial killers. Just look up 6 days in Fallujah. It was a game that was going to come out in 2009, but Christians and conservatives pushed so hard to censor it, that the publisher dropped it entirely. Now it's coming out today, and liberals are the ones saying that incels are going to turn into mass shooters because of it. It's 2 sides of the same coin, and both sides are full of shit.
I love this dialog. Zeratul finally confronts Aldaris and the feelings are exchanged. Zeratul is angry, but also caring and respectful. Excellent writing and voice acting.
Dude I didn’t know what any of this meant when I was younger, but then when I kept playing it, it started clicking in my head until finally I went bonkers with how much zeratul shit on aldaris
Zeratul: -" insert pretentious speeches " Aldaris and everyone: TLDR. Zeratul: FINE! "You are wrong, Judicator!" Ok everyone? Happy? in SC2: Zeratul: Ah...the human from farther space where your ances- Jim Raynor: Make it 10 lines or get lost. Zeratul: .....FINE! Kerrigan must live or else we die. Jim Raynor: Thanks for the concise point and OMG!OMG!OMG! We are dying? No WAI!
Zeratul: Call off your guards and stand aside, and you may yet live to play Diablo 2 Resurrected. Aldaris: I will not be addressed so by one who hasn't played Diablo. Zeratul: You speak of knowledge, Judicator? I have journeyed through the darkest, between the most distant stars. Aldaris: I have ventured through all 16 levels of Tristram and even beyond, then wrote tomes about it. Your argument is invalid.
Aldaris is like a 1800s delicate beautiful French girl who never stepped out of her father's mension. She is beautiful so she has always been kept inside by her family, only to let her become ignorant of the reality.
Zeratul in Starcraft 1: So fucking cool and majestic that made me pick his name as nickname since then. Zeratul in Starcraft 2: Old man without any follower with a story that resumes to: i need to tell Raynor and Artanis to save everything because he can't do shit. Ah... dies in the second missions for fucks sake!!
This may be the greatest line of dialogue in any Blizzard game, maybe even on the entirety of gaming... it’s by far my favourite moment on all of sc1 and one of the reasons why i think of sc1 (not bw) as the best story ever written by Blizzard, not even Alarak itself ever reached this level of badass
@@Vorox17 DuGalle being a dumbass or Fenix/Raynor/Mengsk spreading their legs to Kerrigan without taking any kind of counter measure first... Among the others also Raszagal that gets randomly mind raped before Ep 4 even starts
If i'm being completely honest. I really think it was Zeratul's dialogue and the Nerazim's POVs, that started my journey to questioning and trying to understand Religion as a whole. Which ultimately led me to leaving my own but harboring no ill will towards those that found safety, security and contentment in their own. SC writing back then was on fucking point.
It is interesting that the protoss seem to have views of Taoist concept of Yin and Yang. While the Dark Templar seems to be influenced by Buddhism and Bushido. The concept of nothingness, warrior spirit and self growth is very prevalent in their lore. Zeratul reminded me of Miyamoto Musashi. They have striking parrallels in their story. It must be kinda intentional. Oh! THAT IS WHY the writing was so good in SC1. Protoss was influenced by a lot of ancient philosophy. While Terran is influenced by US history...and the Zerg...i believed was a fear out of the concept of evolution and biology. SC1 was a masterpiece. P.S Even the Conclave seems to be Confucius government approach (with a dash of Catholicism and Hindu system)
@@dustypaint ...oh. but why. Zeratul like Musashi went on a journey of perfecting his belief. Musashi was an avid follower of Buddhism and believe in nothingness Mu which is similar to the protoss dark templar Void. Zeratul and Musashi both went on a journey of self discovery and have very similar traits as a wanderer learning about the world. Dokkodo is very similar to how Zeratul lived I think Alarak concept of dueling and perfecting himself is similar to Musashi too. But then again this is fiction of course it is not a 100 percent translation. I just see similarities lol . But i see how certain traits of Alarak and Zeratul is similar to Miyamoto Musashi.
@@Pemmont107 lol Yang is the white part. So Khalai is supposedly white. I am Chinese from Singapore so it is easy for me. Yin always sound more darker and feminine i guess?
Of all the dialogue I've heard in all of Starcraft, this is probably the best. Zeratul was still such a new character, he just walks in and says "I'm in fuckin' charge here."
my favorite mission in all of SC/BW/SC2. Tassadar in prison, Zeratul afk, two warrior/military dudes doing the real work and Zeratul showing up at the end to put the kibosh on all this shit
A “Negative” Sun is one that has been recently discovered, it’s called a Boson Star, well, it wasn’t recently discovered, but it was recently proven they exist, they aren’t made of traditional matter, they are instead made of things like protons or gluons. From what I understood, they are everything that a star is, but without the flaming ball of super-heater matter. Edit: Funny how blizzard nailed an astronomical concept 24 years prior to its discovery.
How have we ignored the fact that zeratul told us he has witnessed another realities? that would make a great prequel campaign, zeratul's life and adventures, and alternate realities
Aldaris: "You will learn that the will of the Conclave is absolute" Me: "You're talking mad shit for someone within attack range of a dozen carriers". But really the forces that show up to "trap" you at the end of the mission are laughably small in comparison to the army I build up to steamroll the enemy base.
I think I went in with a relatively small force because for some reason it felt right and appropriate. Why would I suddenly be building the world's biggest army in that situation
the german version back then was even better imho. Not that heroic but more dark and sad. I loved that game and played that mission for this dialogue many times.
This is exemplary why Sc1 outshines sc2 in story and story-telling. The writing is on a whole level beyond the cheesy “superheroes save the day” BS and cheap dialogues of sc2.
Am I the only one who thinks the big wall of text Zeratul says is copypasta material? Like, I could see that being something like the navy seals copypasta.
ZERATUL "What in the name of Shakuras did you just say about me, concubine of the Terrans? I will have you know I graduated top of my class in the Nerazim, and I have been involved in numerous secret raids across the galaxy, and I have over 300 confirmed kills..." (Yes, this IS meant to be a parody of the Navy Seals copypasta.)
