EXPOSING all the jobs I had as an artist 👀
Looking back, I was always bummed to have never received a storyboarding internship and truly thought I would never make it as a storyboard artist. After I graduated, believe it or not, I made my friend @noorrasoull hold me accountable by saying “If by December (2018) I did not have a story revisionist job, I am going to switch to become a character designer.”
But by the grace of the universe, I eventually landed my first story revisionist job (to be revealed in part two), before that happened, but imagine what a change of my life that would have been if I let my lack of confidence get to me back then. Not only have I been able to work in animation as a storyboard artist, writer, and assistant director, but I also got to publish a BOOK, and build a community online sharing STORIES of my life through comics and videos.
For some time I thought storytelling was not my thing. I still even remember on the first day of my story class at CalArts, I was the one student who DID NOT go up to tell a story because I was too shy and anxious to speak in front of a group of people. Now my life’s job is to literally continue making stories and share them with others so hopefully someone could learn something from my experience.
Anyway, while life sometimes seems like it won’t work in your favor, don’t lose sight of hope cuz we all may have a little luck dragon like from the Neverending Story to sweep you up from the swamp of sadness 🐲✨
